Do irish men generally prefer tall blondes?

I know each person supposedly has different tastes in what they like or don't like but it seems a lot of irish men (esp in the celeb industry) seem to go for tall, blonde women. These woman can often have very plain or masculine looking faces but still look relatively nice due to being blonde.. is there any specific reason behind this? I know everyone might have preferences but to that extent where it's such a strong preference? Just curious :) thanks

With prince harry (not irish) but seemed like nearly every woman he dated was tall and blonde, yet he went for very dark haired meghan in the end and committed to her more than the 10 or so blondes he was with before.

I’m not a tall blonde and DH is not Irish.

I think this supports OP’s theory, because someone out there must prefer tall blondes.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions - I think you need to go and have a lie down.

My sister knew Georgina when she was younger and she's definitely a natural brunette. Not sure why you need to get so worked up about it Hmm

TheSpottedZebra · 27/02/2019 10:23

I feel the need to point out, on this bonkers thread, that surely everyone is tall next to Aiden Turner.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 27/02/2019 10:36

Shes definately not - i think your sister needs to go have a lie diwwn as do you

I lived in malahide and know both yvonne and G

NewFoneWhoDis · 27/02/2019 10:37

I'm neither tall nor blonde and still a ride like who's never had difficulty catching the attentions of an Irish lad with all his faculties... even managed to nab a few that had frontage too.

He's 6 foot! Not exactly short? (I googled, I don't just know heights of random celebrities. Or know everything about Aidan Turner)

Quintella · 27/02/2019 10:55

There's NO WAY Aidan Turner is 6 feet tall! Grin

Actors' 'official' height is never their actual height. I'd say he's 5ft 7" or thereabouts.

Sakura7 · 27/02/2019 10:56

Sure thing Naught. Even though in the few pictures that exist of her as a blonde she clearly has darker roots. I suppose Cel982 needs a lie down too? Hmm

Anyway, not going to get into an argument about something so ridiculous!

JustHereForThePooStories · 27/02/2019 10:57

Are we Irish at all, I wonder? My whole belief system has been shaken

I’ll have to administer The Test

Hold on there while I hook you up to a blood pressure monitor and show you pictures of wooden spoons.

Quintella · 27/02/2019 11:02

Lol @ wooden spoons Grin

Another one for me would be the Mass Test: 'and what did Fr Murphy talk about during the homily, hmmm?'

MumsyJ · 27/02/2019 11:11

Well, I once dated an Irish man and I'm not blonde, yes I'm tall.

My 3 lovely Irish mates, their significant others; one is brunette, one is Black (African decent), the other mixed race... Do these make them non Irish, OP?🤔

What a thread! Ha

ThisisanEcumenicalMatter · 27/02/2019 11:16

I'm tall and blonde and can't move for potential Irish suitors Nigerian DH's sports paraphanalia

EntirelyAnonymised · 27/02/2019 11:33

Paddy McGuiness is not really Irish is he?

He’s not Irish at all. He is English. From Bolton. He may have Irish relatives but he is English.

Baffling thread.

CassettesAreCool · 27/02/2019 11:39

Absolutely at a loss as to why this is even worth speculating about, especially citing 'evidence' from the reported preferences of a bunch of losers celebrities. And isn't it a bit racist to try to stereotype a group in this way?

kenandbarbie · 27/02/2019 11:43

I'm brunette, brown eyed and tanned, short and fat and married to an Irishman, his other girlfriends were Spanish or Portuguese and looked it. He isn't famous though, but he did have his picture in the paper once.

Pierce Brosnan has a curvy brunette wife. Also these are also Irish men famous outside of Ireland. Most famous Irish men are probably famous only inside Ireland. What about dathi O'Shea and that fit weather man on tv3? Or tubridy. What are their wives like? Gerry Ryan's wife was brunette wasn't she?

EntirelyAnonymised · 27/02/2019 11:44

Of course it’s total nonsense, anyone with half a brain knows it and the posts on the thread ‘citing evidence’ (aka taking the piss) prove it. I don’t think anyone needs to get het up.

EntirelyAnonymised · 27/02/2019 11:45

EXCELLENT use of italics there.

JaneJeffer · 27/02/2019 11:47

As pp said tall leggy blonds are the western media's ideal for women aren't they, they are what men are 'supposed' to fancy. I would say that a lot of Irish men would go for an exotic, dark skinned woman if they got the chance, as most Irish women are blue eyed and fair. You can keep Paddy McGuiness, we have enough wankers thanks. And Irish men are not short btw.

BabyBlackCat · 27/02/2019 12:01

My Mother is neither tall nor blonde, yet she and my Irish Father have been married for 15 years Hmm

PineapplePower · 27/02/2019 12:06

There was a trend a few years back (I think) where girls sported peroxide blond hair, orange skin, and nasty Ugg boots. It was considered beautiful 🤷‍♀️

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 27/02/2019 12:12

Having read all the above I feel compelled to add that a neighbour of mine used to have a tall blond dog, an Afghan Hound it was and we once met an Irish Setter who went bonkers for her.

Not sure it helps the OP.

KittensAndCake · 27/02/2019 12:13

I'm tall and blonde and I am not beating hordes of admiring Irish men away.

Probably because you don't have a plain man face 🤣

This thread is nuts

Quintella · 27/02/2019 12:17

Well I'm afraid that in the eyes of St Patrick and St Brigid that is not a legitimate marriage at all.
