Do irish men generally prefer tall blondes?

I know each person supposedly has different tastes in what they like or don't like but it seems a lot of irish men (esp in the celeb industry) seem to go for tall, blonde women. These woman can often have very plain or masculine looking faces but still look relatively nice due to being blonde.. is there any specific reason behind this? I know everyone might have preferences but to that extent where it's such a strong preference? Just curious :) thanks

With prince harry (not irish) but seemed like nearly every woman he dated was tall and blonde, yet he went for very dark haired meghan in the end and committed to her more than the 10 or so blondes he was with before.

I think talk blondes are more standoutish so maybe it seems like that? Am Irish, know people married to talk blondes but don't see a trend or anything?

poppingoff · 26/02/2019 23:26

Irish or Northern Irish? I hope OP
isn't out to split up Eamonn and Ruth Sad

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/02/2019 23:30

Katgurl · 26/02/2019 23:32

What is this madness?

CoffeeCoffeeTea · 26/02/2019 23:33

I always thought for Irish men 'black is the colour of my true loves hair'.

ElspethFlashman · 26/02/2019 23:33

But don't forget, you have to have Man Face. Apparently that's essential.

To get an Irish man, it's not enough to be tall and blonde, you have to be fugly too.

Moralitym1n1 · 26/02/2019 23:34

Paddy McGuiness

He's not really Irish, is he. That's like saying Dermot Mulroney or Patrick thingamy from Grey's anatomy are Irish.

Brian McFadden's second fiance (delta), second wife (vogue williams) and current girlfriend (so clearly it doesn't always work out lol) and Ronan Keating

True, but the they're ex boy band members, btgry shouldn't count Wink.

Colin Farrell

He's been with all different types, has he not.

And Liam Neesons deceased wife

I always thought Natasha Richardson was brown haired (aside from a couple if roles).

Acalavero · 26/02/2019 23:35

Why on Earth is everyone being so bloody callous on here?!?
I am sure the point of MN is to ask questions you may not feel as comfortable to do irl and also because it goes to a wide range of people.

I am honestly interested as well, I'm ethnic and do not know of any Irish men with ethnic women. However, two of my uncles are married to Irish women. And btw these Irish Auntys of mine also said the similar thing about how Irish men were very traditionally into their Irish women. Seems it may be a culture thing?

I think the reason the op mentions tall blondes as an example is from the likes of the most famous Irish celebs- Colin Farrel, Roman Keating, Paddy Mcguiness etc all seem to have similar looking wives...

It is an interesting question and perhaps she is looking for some anecdotes

Moralitym1n1 · 26/02/2019 23:36

I think it's more - ex boy band members and D list celebs, who happen to be irish, like tall blondes with man faces.

mysteryfairy · 26/02/2019 23:37

My dad's Irish and my mum is tallish (5ft 7) and was blonde.

I'm taller and blonder than my mum and lived with an Irish bloke before marrying my (not Irish) husband.

My daughter's taller again, but actually looks more stereotypically Irish as she has my Irish pallor but with dark curly hair...she has never had an Irish boyfriend.

None of us ever dated Prince Harry or persuaded him to commit to us.

Do we prove the theory in 3 generations?

ElspethFlashman · 26/02/2019 23:38

Anyone else wearing socks? Right now in bed? I love a nice sock, me.

Moralitym1n1 · 26/02/2019 23:40

Is Colin Farrell now with a tall blonde - I didn't even know he'd ever married, he had a child with a petite (I think) girl of Eastern European norigin who to my memory was not blonde.

Moralitym1n1 · 26/02/2019 23:40

I am,Vectra fluffy ones.

LovingLola · 26/02/2019 23:40

But Brian McFaddens first wife was Kerry Katona. She’s not tall.

Moralitym1n1 · 26/02/2019 23:41

Colin Farrel - think he shagged Britney Spears back in the year of our Lord, 2005, but other than that is always with darker women?

Ronan Keating - may well be the object of the OP's affections

Paddy McGuinness - He is English! We are not taking responsibility for that twat.

Acalavero · 26/02/2019 23:42

@LovingLola

But blond tho. Let's just forget the height for now and refer to blondes. I think maybe that's the gist of what she was getting at

Acalavero · 26/02/2019 23:43

Paddy McGuinness - He is English! We are not taking responsibility for that twat.*

😂😂😂😂 fair enough

Quintella · 26/02/2019 23:45

Acalavero next time you're on a work night out, sit next to your Irish colleague and work your charms on him. Because you won't be able to tell from reading a MN thread whether Fiachra from Finance fancies you.

poppingoff · 26/02/2019 23:45

She said "tall" three times. She's been very clear!

CoffeeCoffeeTea · 26/02/2019 23:45

harold yes most American Presidents claim Irish heritage, however Donald trump is Scottish not Irish.

Moralitym1n1 · 26/02/2019 23:45

Again, paddy McGuiness is not Irish.

And seriously, the most famous Irish celebs are Ronan Keating, Colin Farrell etc?

Not Gillian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson, Ciaran Hinds, Jamie Dornan, Pierce Brisbane, Liam Neeson, Van Morrison, Gabriel Byrne etc

BartonHollow · 26/02/2019 23:46

Pierce Brisbane !!!

The unintentional hilarity of this thread is awesome

Quintella · 26/02/2019 23:47

Ciaran Hinds! I'm sure his wife is Asian, possibly Vietnamese?

Ta dah!

Moralitym1n1 · 26/02/2019 23:47

*Cillian, not sure who Gillian Murphy is.
