Oh Lily I wish you all the best, glad to hear that you have finally moved, but sorry at all the work you have to do I'm afraid its usual with an older property, but I'm sure that one day you will sit back in your lovely new home and feel very proud of yourself and how far you've come.Flowers

madrose · 12/11/2020 20:36

congratulations - I'm sure in no time at all, your new house will be pristine. Good luck in your new home.

Lily007 · 14/11/2020 11:20

Hi All

Thank you so much for all your good wishes.

I’m spending the weekend stripping wallpaper which I absolutely love.

You’re all absolutely right that not having to rely on KH any longer is a massive bonus. I’ve certainly slept better since I’ve moved in 😊

@PurpleTrilby I’ll try to be kind here too, I’m sure there are many homeless people who would feel you should be grateful you’re in a position to rent! Count your blessings 😚

Hello Lily. That was a nuisance having to replace the boiler and shower, but at least that's one job which won't need doing for a long time.
Also do you strip walls using a steamer?
It's very satisfying when a big lot comes away in one go.
Welcome to your new cosy home 🏡

Lily007 · 15/11/2020 21:23

@TDogsInHats. Yes I use a steamer and I know what you mean about it being satisfying. I’ve only done 2 walls, actually stripping the paper isn’t a problem it’s the cleaning up that takes the time 🙄.

My hands are like sandpaper and I was absolutely filthy. Also lots of plaster came off with the paper which is a pain but I’ll get the walls skimmed after the damp course is done.

There’s quite a bit needs doing to the house but once it’s all done I’m sure it’ll be worth it 😊.

Lily! So pleased you are in your own house. When all the issues are all dealt with it will be so much better. You are on the up! Fantastic.
@PurpleTrilby, that’s not nice, Lily needs our support, we all need to encourage each other. Lily, keep us updated if you would. 💐

littlebitupset · 16/11/2020 16:48

Lily007 · 22/11/2020 15:08

Thank you @Redland12 and @littlebitupset 🙏

@Redland12 Is everything still going well for you, apart from the Covid lockdowns etc? 😊

Redland12 · 23/11/2020 23:16

Hello Lily. Yes thank you. All is good. House is done and I’m very happy, best thing I ever did .I enjoyed decorating and furnishing it. I can’t believe I’ve had this house a year! You will be the same! I hated lockdown first time! This seems a bit softer. But to be honest I’m on Tinder and having the time of my life!! I can thoroughly recommend it! But yes Lily, I’m absolutely fine thank you. As I say, please keep us updated. 💐

Redland12 · 21/12/2020 08:29

Morning Lily! How are things? Would absolutely love an update. Hoping all is going great guns 💐

Lily007 · 24/12/2020 14:27

Hello. Merry Christmas everyone.

Had a damp course done at the house 3 weeks ago, it was horrendous 😫.

Next job is a new kitchen, decorate everywhere and then flooring. I’m quite settled now and looking forward to the nice bits.

Still working from home which is a bit boring but I’m just thankful I still have a job.

I’m going to my son and DIL’s for Christmas Day together with my doggie, only 5 of us this year which will be strange.

Hope you all have a nice Christmas and a very happy new year 🥳😊x

Great update Lily, sounds like you are doing really well. Wait for the sales for all your nice bits. I’m so pleased. It’s strange times and I hate it. Merry Christmas to you and a happy new year 🥰

lilylongjohn · 26/12/2020 22:24

Hi Lily, I've been following you under various names and it's great to hear you're getting sorted. The fun bits of the house will start soon with the decorating. Glad to see that kh hasn't put in an appearance

Can I ask roughly how much you paid for your damp course, I'm looking at buying a similar property and it's likely to need that doing too.

Redland12 · 18/01/2021 23:30

Hello Lily. How’s it going? Would love an update. Hope all is well 🌹

Lily007 · 14/02/2021 16:24

Hiya

I’ve been really busy with the house. I had a new kitchen installed last week so I’ve spent all weekend getting straight.

@lilylongjohn my damp course cost £6,000 although that did include some outside pointing. It creates so much dust and mess, I wish I’d been able to get it done between exchange and completion but that wasn’t possible.

Most of the decorating is done now. The next job is the flooring, I’m thinking of having either Amtico or Karndean downstairs and then I’ll having new stair and bedroom carpets.

I also had the front windows, front door and porch windows sprayed a couple of weeks ago. The windows were dark brown wood effect Upvc so I had them sprayed anthracite. They look amazing 😊.

I’m hoping I’ll be completely finished by Easter.

I probably mentioned that KH is supposed to be getting married in June/July this year although whether he will in view of the pandemic I don’t know and I don’t really care to be honest.

I hope you’re all keeping well and sane and, like me, looking forward to better weather 😘

Redland12 · 14/02/2021 17:24

Great update Lily. Sounds like your on top of it all. Well I didn’t know you could have the windows sprayed! That’s amazing! It’s lovely choosing all the stuff for the house. I bet the kitchen looks lovely. Tough shit if he can’t get married, who cares indeed. Let her have him he’s a dick. Glad your ok Lily. Yes, definitely looking forward to warmer weather. Keep in touch.🌹🌹

KeziaOAP · 14/02/2021 18:21

Good to hear from you and you are getting settled in new abode. Anthracite sprayed Upvc sounds lovely. Yes looking forward to better weather and being able to get out into the garden. Onwards and upwards Wine

OMGisthisforreal · 28/03/2021 20:34

Hey Lily
I’ve followed all of your threads and pop by from time to time to see how you are doing. Like many other posters and readers I was silently and anonymously cheering you on.
How are all the refurbishments going? You hoped to be finished by Easter so I hope you’re still on target.
I hope you’re enjoying your new home and freedom and independence.

Lily007 · 19/04/2021 14:33

Hiya everyone

Well, the house is very nearly finished. I’ve had Karndean flooring throughout downstairs in a herringbone pattern and it looks lovely. My kitchen is finished and the decorating is all done. All I need now is to replace the stair carpet and the carpet in my bedroom. I’m really pleased with how the house is looking now.

I had to pop into town this morning to return some stuff to Next and I couldn’t help myself, I walked by her market stall! OMG she looked absolutely horrendous, she’s put weight on (haven’t we all), but she had a calf length red floral skirt on with black trainer socks and black trainers 😂🙈. She looked like she’d borrowed clothes from Miriam Margolyes 🤣🤣. It’s really cheered me up 😊.

I’m still working from home which is getting me down a bit but hopefully I’ll be back at work 2 days each week from the end of June.

I’ve had my first vaccination and my second one is booked for the beginning of June.

How are you all getting on? 😘

I'm glad things are going well for you Lily Grin

Had to smile when you described KH's squeeze embracing her inner bag lady!

MsPavlichenko · 19/04/2021 16:31

Your post today made me smile too Lily! Great to hear how your life is moving on and the house sounds lovely. Here’s to Happy Times to come.

OMGisthisforreal · 19/04/2021 16:46

Great news, Lily, you’ve come a long way!

Redland12 · 19/04/2021 17:09

Hey Lily. Great update and funny too! Oh dear she’s not much of a catch! Well a pair well matched. Your house sounds just perfect.
Loving the sound of the floor. You’ve worked hard. Lockdown is getting better but so fed up with it. I booked a flight for July to visit friends but had my money returned so looks like July is a no go ☹️ Hoping our girls holiday to Marbella in September is still on. Been on a few dating websites and I am in touch with some hot pieces of ass! I can recommend it Lily😈 😂😂😂 please don’t disappear keep posting. 🌹

TDogsInHats · 02/06/2021 11:02

@Lily007
How are you? You don't hang about getting your new home sorted!
Much better weather , have you got any gardening going on now your house is straight?
I've been following from the beginning of your threads, occasionally name changing.

Redland12 · 02/06/2021 17:32

Hey Lily. I’d love to hear from you too. I think of you now and again. What’s new? .
