Online profile cliches - share!

Other than the many many many pictures of men in cycling gear and holding fish, some of the profile cliches are just insane ๐Ÿ˜‚

โ€œDonโ€™t take life too seriouslyโ€ - ok, this is a rehearsal then?!

โ€œLooking for a partner in crimeโ€ - what does that even mean?

โ€œSchool of lifeโ€ - unless youโ€™re Oprah, nope.

OP posts:
MrsRolandRat · 02/09/2018 15:34

School of hard knocks

University of life

Self employed and loving it.

Heard off male friends women have "gym bunny" in their list of hobbies, no just no! ๐Ÿคข

If you don't look like your pictures you're buying the drinks until you do! Grim as fuck that one, seen it on that many profiles.

Men with tops off, eugh. Just wrong on every level.

Men stood in front of their car, as if to impress.

UnscriptedTruth · 02/09/2018 15:36

"Separated"

MrsRolandRat · 02/09/2018 15:38

Anyone who mentions they are looking for "my princess" wanting to treat a woman as a "princess" ๐Ÿคข

Onedayy · 02/09/2018 15:41

Not a cliche as such but there are a few profile photos on pof of men giving the middle finger.

I despair that a man on a dating site would think that was appropriate or attractive in any way.

RunsforCake14 · 02/09/2018 15:41

Selfies in their bathroom

Selfies were you can see up their nostrils

Blurry photos

Scowling at the camera

Fish, dead animals, hi-vis, lorry cabs

"Inspirational" quotes as a profile pic.

Topless shot

User names like 'MrSexy' when 99.9% of the time they definitely are not.

Onedayy · 02/09/2018 15:41

Oh Iโ€™ve thought of another one... โ€˜Too nice.โ€™

Annabelle4 · 02/09/2018 15:44

See, I think some of those listed here are fine.
I would interpret 'cosy nights in' as just that... a cosy night in (tv, wine, food etc) rather than someone who is constantly on the go or prefers nights out. I'd prefer to know that that was their preference. It wouldn't lead me to think that they're tight with money Confused or boring (or maybe I'm boring too) Wink

AnduinsGirl · 02/09/2018 16:07

I had a message from someone called "Colin" once. It just said "I will destroy you." I sent a fairly angry response and he blocked me. The next day I received a message a from a normal-looking profile which ended with "by the way - how's Colin?" I got similar messages from different profiles every day for the next week. Made me feel very intimidated to be honest.

Www.byefelipe.com is a mostly humorous, sometimes worrying, repository of rejected men and their reactions.

(Fingers crossed that's the right url from memory)

ShotsFired · 02/09/2018 16:20

Hmmm. Instagram seems to have more pics: www.instagram.com/byefelipe/?hl=en

And there's a FB page too.

Benjaminbuttonschild · 02/09/2018 16:44

Guys who say they love the gym, football, most sport tbh, travel.

I can't stand shirtless pics in men, especially when they are just showing off their biceps/abs etc.

Every bloke has an obligatory holiday picture on his profile.

Agree with "Are there any decent women out there?", "Looking for my princess" etc.

On the flip side, the cliche woman pic is the duck face pout, hands on hips, head to the side, ready for a night out. Followed by a group photo of said night out where her group of friends are doing identical poses.

CringeyMcCringerson!

Ceebeegee · 02/09/2018 16:53

"Love to travel "

Mostly this means they go to Spain once a year

FermatsTheorem · 02/09/2018 17:00

I don't know if this is still a thing (old gimmer, so long time since I've dipped a toe in the swamp that is OLD) but "no bunny boilers". I always mentally translated that as "I'm a raving misogynist who thinks all women are out to get me..."

Benjaminbuttonschild · 02/09/2018 17:12

Guys who lie about their age and look for much younger women.

Guys who don't lie about their age and look for much younger women.

Pics of guys in the pub with mates and a pint their hand. They always have either a white t-shirt on or a checked shirt (usually red or blue).

RainySeptember · 02/09/2018 17:25

My met hate is 'I love life' because what's the alternative, loving death?

Think some of these are a bit harsh though - I wouldn't object to 'foodie' for example because I think it says they've got a serious interest in food, Michelin starred restaurants, gourmet cookery, importing the right sort of pasta from Sicily. I'd rather know, because I'm more of a kebab person.

ShotsFired · 02/09/2018 17:27

@Benjaminbuttonschild Every bloke has an obligatory holiday picture on his profile.

...frequently with a mystery female arm/torso half cropped out (i.e. the ex)

or grou pics so you don't actually know who he is!

fiercelikefrida · 02/09/2018 17:54

The ones that say something like

"If I say it all here, what will we talk about ๐Ÿ˜‰"

They've got to be boring as fuck if by writing a short paragraph they'll have nothing to talk about, or more realistically they're lazy.

Forfuppsake · 02/09/2018 18:02

The profiles where they have one topless picture to show off their โ€˜six packโ€™

Cringe ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

RainySeptember · 02/09/2018 18:13

I had a little stalk on the women's profiles to check out the competition and thought that the cliche words and phrases were :

Honest, genuine, humble, positive (though can't imagine anyone admitting to the alternatives!)

Looking for my best friend
Looking for my partner in crime
Love to laugh

And they all seemed also to love fine dining, travel and cosy nights in.

Photos always included them on a night out, them in a group of friends, them doing a sport, them with a pet.

Mind you if you decide not to include any of that, what's left??

KateMcD451 · 02/09/2018 18:47

Just read some posts on that #byefelipe Instagram and I'm speechless angry, disgusted and speechless. I'm sure women didn't have to put up with this historically, I mean imagine a Mr Darcy type writing this in a letter, what the chuff is happening to men??

what the chuff is wrong with some men? I'm

KateMcD451 · 02/09/2018 18:48

Oops not even sure how I did that ^

Benjaminbuttonschild · 02/09/2018 18:55

You forgot to mention the one with the body in the basement.

Sorry, ignore my dark sense of humour Blush

PinkLady01 · 02/09/2018 18:56

โ€œLet me take you on my boatโ€

Jsku · 02/09/2018 18:56

Do you want to know the cliches married men out on โ€˜married-datingโ€™ websites....

Donโ€™t want to rock anyoneโ€™s boat...
Donโ€™t want to change my circumstances but...
Spark has gone out...
Looking for that special lady whoโ€™d bring passion back into my life...

And also - own hair & teeth....

sunstarsmoon · 02/09/2018 18:57

Every man I come across on OLD always wore sun glasses! I want to see your face not have it half covered!!

Gym pic.

Topless pic.

On the describe yourself section always "ask me"
