hello and welcome 84 ( it doesn't feel quite right to call you Lottie somehow ...) -so sorry that things are tough , though hardly surprising.
{hugs}

SelenaValentina · 24/02/2018 22:15

Hugs, 84. I don't think I've 'met' you before, so hi.

I found those early days quite grim, all the paperwork, trying not to sob but be coherent when people are kind, dealing with officialdom, probate etc. etc.

I'm nearly 8 months down the line. My defence/coping mechanism is to have a project, supposedly small but they've somehow turned out to be rather large. I don't believe there's any right or wrong way to be, though not sure that helps to know.

Willow2017 · 24/02/2018 23:11

Evening all.

Well ended up getting a second mortgage for shoes! Nothing he tried on fitted properly so ended up in Clarks!!! They better last 10 years Grin
Had coffee with ds2 before home. Forgot to get new wash bucket!

Lovely and sunny but freezing cold winds.

Apart from the never ending washing and feeding kids and dishes have been holed up in the chair and have finished one book and started another for most of afternoon and evening. I have been reading the first one for ages, ate up 3/4 of it then had to put it down as got to the bit where I knew things were about to be horrible and keept putting it off so bit the bullet and read till the end. Very tense, very sad so of course I had to start the next one in the series. It started well but Mr King just lulling me unto a false sense of security its all going downhill...

DS2 trying to decide what he wants for his birthday...expensive lego set he saw on the cheap but its not lego. Doesnt come in a box etc so bit dubious. Have found a set on ebay used once so will keep an eye on it. He loves building/making things. Will need to speak to his dad as to how to encourage it in the real world. Wish we had room in the garage for him to 'potter' in or a shed.

Boxed up the monitor. No wonder it was broken, packging not enough to keep it static in the huge box it came in. Used the shoe box to help keep it in place!

Charing
Hi, so sorry for your loss. Welcome to the mad house Grin

Book sounds like a lovely day all round. Glad you didnt freeze Grin

Selena I love a good ol 'drawer tidy out', makes me feel virtuous too Grin

84CharingCrossRoad · 25/02/2018 01:57

Thanks for the greetings. I haven't had to do the paperwork etc as I wasn't next of kin. Suffering with a stinking cold and cough at the moment. Just wish it would do one.

MrsJonesAndMe · 25/02/2018 06:48

Morning all

I suppose 6:15 is a bit better than 5:30. Cold still lingering here too.

Shes are so expensive Willow! Which ones are you reading? I'm on a similar point with a Koontz. It's tense, so I've put it down Grin big baby that I am!

book how is Son in Law doing?

I'm trying to clear out and declutter a bit. DS seems to have outgrown his entire wardrobe!

Hope you all have a good Sunday.

Chasingsquirrels · 25/02/2018 08:19

6.20 Charlie start here (yawn), although I just let him out and then cuddled on the sofa next to him and dozed.

Up at 7.30 when he went to look out of the patio window and started barking worriedly - one of the hens was there!
The hen area is at the front so it had got over the fence and come round to see where it's food was Smile.
Charlie goes in with the hens quite happily on both sides, it must have been seeing it in a different environment which upset him.

Going to a Meetup brunch today, following a thread on WAY about what I should "DO" with my life. One of my WAY friends is also going. Don't actually want to go, but I'll probably have a nice enough time when I'm there.

The thing is while it will (hopefully) be okay, things like this just highlight that my life isn't what it was.

Will then take Charlie for a walk and over to my parents for tea when the boys are back.

Think I am also going to visit MIL who is back in hospital. Thanks for the comments made about her in the past, there is a story behind it (isn't there always) but it's not just me involved and I don't feel comfortable sharing it on an open access forum so haven't gone into it.

Looks like a lovely, bright (freezing cold) day.

bookbook · 25/02/2018 11:52

Morning all!
Glorious wall to wall sunshine here - and about 3º !
been to the allotment, and had a good time, picked veg.
Son in law quite a lot better , just wiped out now -CP are starting to scab over, but not back to work just yet , thank you for asking :)
Gosh, early get ups this morning ...
Shoes are just ruinously expensive for children really, aren't they ? and they grow out of them so quickly.
Chasing - sounds like you have a nice busyish day at least , fills the time
MrsJones -and 84 - hope the colds are getting better
Willow - I find holding had back books such hard work these days- still do it mind, but get a sore spot in the crook of my thumb usually!
Well, I have a afternoon of crafting and listening to the radio beckoning after lunch, so hope everyone else has a good one

Chasingsquirrels · 25/02/2018 14:42

Beautiful day, just about to take Charlie out for a walk.

Brunch was okay, meet WAY friend and sat with another newbie to the MEETUP and a regular. Exchanged no's with the newbie as she was looking for a dog walking group and there is a reasonably good area between the two of us.

Good that Son-I-L is recovering book

Hope the colds improve cake & 84.

Kids shoes Willow!!
I haven't brought Clarks since they told me that there wasn't a shoe in their range which would fit then 3yo ds1.

Tulips all opened up in the sunshine and as I still haven't got compost I've shoved the 3 pots into a bigger bowl.

I went to church this morning and helped the rector with his sermon and did the teas etc with my mum.
I then went to work and then finished off lunch. Gammon in coke with mash and carrots. Then syrup sponge and cream.

84CharingCrossRoad · 25/02/2018 19:43

A month ago at 1.40am DP died... Looked back on my FB memories and there was a video of him and his cat.... Made me feel so Sad

bookbook · 25/02/2018 20:51

just popping on whilst having a crochet break, and watching Top Gear
Gammon in coke is lovely, and a pudding too . Very jealous . I may have to take out some chocolate brownies from the freezer for tomorrow now .... (hugs) for you 84

Willow2017 · 25/02/2018 21:03

Evening all.
Everyone busy today. Nice to have someone else to dog walk with Squirrels.

Charring ((hugs)) must be very hard its such a short time passed.

Work eye boggling insane and i dont mean busy although it was all day. It should be great but some of the people are just untrustworthy for want of a better word. I really need to find something else but there just isnt at the moment. Yet another Sunday where i find myself doing the majority of the cleaning work.hmmm i need to get quicker of the mark and more devious myself i think😉

And car share has a new job which affects school run. Think need to just do it ourselves now unless she needs a hand out anytime.

Think i might just veg out. Hungry but cant be bothered to make anything but a cuppa.
Have a good evening folks.

SelenaValentina · 25/02/2018 22:06

Sounds like a plan, Willow, if you can't beat them, join them!
Oh 84, hugs.
Lovely, squirrels, and good re dog walk.
Glad SIL feeling better book.

Can't say I've done much. Such a beautiful day, so went for usual prom therapy and Brew x 2. Done as much as I can for carpet fitter who's arriving around lunchtime, I can't physically move any furniture. He's seen it, so hopefully won't moan.

Cats are staring at me, must be their supper time. How do they know?

MrsJonesAndMe · 25/02/2018 22:08

We've had a good but very busy day. Just off to bed now.

Thinking of you Lottie

Glad SIL better book

Hmm, I need to get all the Kings off the shelf. DH has some singed ones!

Catch up with you all tomorrow. Hope Charlie sleeps in Squirrels

84CharingCrossRoad · 25/02/2018 22:14

Not tired at all. Think I might be awake for a while.... Ribs are hurting from coughing and Bumbledog is licking his unmentionables next to me!!!

Willow2017 · 25/02/2018 23:32

mrsj
Ooh am so jealous! Which DK are you reading?

Chasingsquirrels · 26/02/2018 06:09

84 - not sure how old you are, but wanted to mention Widowed And Young (WAY), a peer to peer support group for those under 50 when their partner died. It's been a bit of lifeline for me.

Rubbish night sleep for some reason, very unlike me.

MrsJonesAndMe · 26/02/2018 06:27

Morning all

I'm reading Winter moon. Phantoms before that. Also good. I managed to get my DSis a Terry P signed - she's a big fan. I'm jealous he got to meet Mr K but that's just life Grin

Sorry to hear about the bad night Squirrel and I hope you get better soon Lottie. I've had it for over a week now.

Meant to be super cold with snow this week - not really what we need!

Horsemad · 26/02/2018 06:44

Morning! We've had snow - just a dusting, hope it stays that way!

DS2 travelling back this morning but home again in a fortnight for Easter (a month Shock)

Just off to work so will read and catch up later Smile

bookbook · 26/02/2018 09:05

Morning all
a proper dusting of snow here, and its snowing properly now . Tomorrow is looking iffy ..
oh Willow and MrsJones - don't like too scary books! I like a good crime though ..
Selena - Hope the carpet fitting goes well today.
Chasing - it always is a bit odd when you don't sleep well, always wondering why
84 - hope the coughing goes away - love that bumbledog is sharing his grooming with you :)
Horse - hope the commute went safely
Out this afternoon to pick DGS up - I have had a request for Macaroni cheese for tea :) Taking some chocolate brownies out of the freezer and cream too for an easy pudding .
Hope everyone has a good day

Willow2017 · 26/02/2018 11:24

Morning.
Cake ahh yes its a bit nerve jangling😀havent got Phantoms some of my DK are new but discovered a fan who obvioysly reads a book then donates to a local charity shop so got a lot there there was always another one when i finished one😀 Has your oh read 'The Dark Tower' books?

Have a load of stuff to do but after all the shopping has been put away i just wanna sit down with a cuppa and my book. Will force myself to do something first😁

Weather teasing us with snow flurries here too. The sky is full of it as they say but will have to see what it does with it 😀

Squirrels hope you catch up on some zzzs today. Bad nights put you off for the whole day.

Chasingsquirrels · 26/02/2018 15:17

All achy and sore throat so am guessing that's probably the reason for the bad night. Took paracetamol and went to work but did just under 4 hours and went to Aldi on the way home. Dog beds in the middle-isle and I'd been thinking of getting a soft one or beanbag for Charlie in the hope he will sleep longer (his current bed is my last dogs who died nearly 10 years ago, just a hard one - with blankets - so it's been up in the loft) so he's got a new bed. Unfortunately he seems to think it is a chew toy!

Chasingsquirrels · 26/02/2018 15:35

Chocolate brownies and cream - yum book. Have a good afternoon with she.
Brownies are probably not what I want to think about as I'm doing a v low calorie day - and am determined to stick to it today as I've not been doing so and my trousers are getting tight.

Hope you had a sit down as well as getting stuff done Willow.

Willow2017 · 26/02/2018 16:31

Well i was very 'good' Squirrels and blitzed the bathroom. Sorted washing and piled it up on kids beds! Realised if ds1 hoovered his room yesterday i am a dutchman!

Then sat down with my book read about 4 pages before falling asleep! Had a 20 min snooze 😀

Sun had cheek to be out but bitter cold. Apparently we are to gave a weeks worth of snow tomorrow so school have cancelled stuff tomorrow night. Doesnt concern us so not so bad. Hope they are wrong!!
