Hi everyone. Well today is the first day back to normal this year. Everyone at school, college, work. It seems strange. The weather is miserable. I'm trying to motivate myself to tackle my bedroom which has been used to dump all sorts in during Christmas. I don't know if it's a job for "Blue Monday"!

Chasingsquirrels · 15/01/2018 17:35

Glad you've got an appointment Willow and hope they can DO something.

Rain here all day, Charlie sat on the doormat and just looked at me when I let him out.

Hopefully you had good trips book and didn't get caught in any traffic.

Hope today wasn't too blue for you Jane.

Waves to Selena & cake.

Boys went to school and I went in the garden with Charlie, then when I came in ds1 was cleaning his shoes at the utility sink?? Turns out he'd slipped in mud at the bus stop and had come home to change his trousers and clean his shoes, so I went a bit earlier and dropped him at school (then had to email his form teacher so he didn't get a detention - although he was there before the start of 1st period). Busy at work then supermarket on the way home and just been unpacking and playing with Charlie, then a friend dropped ds1's bow home (he does an after school archery club on a Monday but is at his dad's and as she is picking up her son from the same club and driving past our house she is dropping it in so ds1 doesn't have to take it to school again tomorrow to get it home) so had a chat with her.

I'm 5:2-ing properly again from today (2 v low calorie days and 5 normal days), so about to make my roasted peppers, onions, tomatoes and marinated chicken dish shortly.

Hope everyone has a good evening x

Hello all

Jane did you get anything done? I spent my first day when everyone went back to just drink in a bit of peace.

Willow sending you a big hug. Can they not refer you to physio too?
Hope that the boys helped you with the food shop and packing it away

Selena it is hard going when the weather is so gloomy. How long till you get on that plane? I think taking Vit D has helped me enormously.

Hope that you get/got all your stuff done. I need to do some crochet again. One measly plain square isn't a great start Blush

We've not got much to report other than that we survived the Monday.
xxx

Willow2017 · 15/01/2018 18:28

Its a long time since i crocheted.

bookbook · 15/01/2018 18:40

Evening all
everything done and sorted - the traffic was kind to us for once.
When we were driving to the garage, the sun came out, beautiful evening pink sky.
So a lovely sight after a miserable dark day.
Just sat down, and about to pick up the crochet for a nice calm evening.
Good luck with the 5:2 Chasing - not sure if I could do that. One of my resolutions this year is to not clear my plate, just because its on there , stop when I am full . I can but try!
Jane - hope the Mondays Blues have been kicked out.
Cake - hah you survived ! Grin
Willow - ooh pear flapjacks sound rather nice - take care, hope you get some rest and the sciatica eases .
I am off back into the loft tomorrow- if you remember, I popped up there yesterday ,and uncovered the box with .......DD2's Sylvanian Country Mansion, with all the families and furniture. It is coming down to let DGS play with. I'm sure he won't mind all the mended furniture, and the broken chandelier !
Have a good evening everyone

Willow2017 · 15/01/2018 19:00

Book pear flapjacks hmm now that's an idea😀 they are pear scones. Someone at work made them and as i had some pears which were going to be too soft to eat by tomorrow i tried it😀

Dgs will have a ball with all the new toys. You will get some peace while he is lost in his imagination😉

bookbook · 15/01/2018 19:29

Blush - speed reading fail !

Willow2017 · 15/01/2018 20:09

Thought as much😀

NotAChristmasCakePop · 15/01/2018 20:48

Must have cross posted with you Squirrel Sounds like a busy day indeed.

We also had some lovely pink clouds earlier.

I'm tired and achy but guess it means it's been a busy weekend/day. Had a great time with my little family which was lovely. (Just don't try and play snakes and ladders with a tired 5yo)

Ooooh book DD loves all things Sylvanian!

Willow2017 · 16/01/2018 08:59

Well that was interesting! I saw gp and have to trail up to hosp to get knee xrayed and base of spine too. Then probobably mri of both after she sees xrays to see whats happening. Got to have bloods done for so many things folic acid, thyroid, and inflammatory markers some other things i cant remember and also ovarian cancer markers! She said its highly unlikely but because of where the pain is and my age they will rule it out as routine.

Very frosty this morning at home, gp is 5 minutes away and was snowing there! Hopefully will be fine in morning bloods at 8.30 and straight to hosp an hour away.

Sitting freezing waiting for chemist to open for stronger painkillers.😀

Hope weather is better with you all. Have a goood day.

JaneJeffer · 16/01/2018 10:45

It's good that they're being thorough Willow, hopefully it won't be too serious and they will be able to do something for you Thanks

Well yesterday wasn't too bad but my bedroom remains in a state as I was just pottering around doing other bits and pieces instead.

Very cold, we've had snow showers.

It's very sad about Dolores O'Riordain Sad

bookbook · 16/01/2018 10:58

Morning all
well, it is a glorious bright morning here , but we are forecast snow this afternoon.
So I think a quick trip to the market is due shortly
Willow - at last, you are being checked , lets hope that you get some answers .
Jane - yes she was so young , it is so sad to see a life cut short .
Cake - I was playing snakes and ladders yesterday with DGS :)
This afternoon is finalising what we can squeeze into cases ..and what gets left behind. Its an interesting dilemma!
Have a good day everyone

Willow2017 · 16/01/2018 11:05

Thanks Jane I am just glad they are doing something to get to bottom of it. I am not looking forward to mri as had one before and it takes AGES and is noisy and boring. Might get a book cd as you can play music but I wouldnt be able to lie still, ha ha, and would sing along but you cant move a muscle!

Such a shame about Dolores, far too young. I was feeling like a change of cds I have in the car about November last year and raked out their debute cd for a bit of nostalgia and recapturing my 'youth' Smile... such a talent, 'Zombie' is such a pongant song and great to sing along to (loudly) in the car. DS1 noticed it on the news this morning and told me.

Well sun was out here and was going to put wash out but its now snowing! Stupid weather cant make up its mind today.

Just been generally tidying up kitchen, done the top of the fridge freezer... general dumping ground for meds, change etc so its now done so feeling very virtuous Grin.

Work later, hopefully new tablets will work better and it will be fine.

Willow2017 · 16/01/2018 11:08

Book cross posted. Smile
Enjoy the packing! I will probably start thinking about it next week I have 'applied' to book the holiday cottage today!!!! Grin.

JaneJeffer · 16/01/2018 11:44

GrinYes Willow I got told off for moving my head during a MRI even though I thought I was perfectly still!

Willow2017 · 16/01/2018 12:20

We are going to Wales on holiday Grin Yeah! Now where is Wales again?

odis.homeaway.com/odis/listing/74c60828-f5be-4e64-89de-7fcd2fa0c9cd.c10.jpg

Its a converted post office! I do like an old house, last year it was a converted stable Grin Got message from the owner who seems very nice going by all the reviews and her message (personal not standard thanks for the booking type) so excited, I am a big kid!

DS2 is excited, DS1 not so much but then thats to be expected.
BUT....DS1 asked yesterday coming back from school how would I feel about him and his mates going camping in summer hols! Shock I tried and failed to stifle a laugh he knows nothing about camping. But apparently they are going to do it locally and his mate is finding out somewhere they are allowed to camp on. I know it will be fine, although I will need to get him a bloody tent! I know they wont burn the countryside down, I know that it may not come off, I know that I will be asking lots of questions and setting rules, getting DS1 up to speed on some basic cooking/safety etc.....but I did feel a little lump in the throat, my baby wants to go off with his mates ALONE! (He has been told he is coming with us too) Where did the time go? I want a re set button.

NotAChristmasCakePop · 16/01/2018 13:32

Hello all

Just checking in while things are quiet for the moment.

Willow that sounds a right pain (literally) but I'm glad they're being thorough and checking all possible causes.
The house in Wales looks lovely. Eeek! @ DS1's camping plans. They might freeze - even in the summer Grin

book I hope that all is going well there, the weather is not very pleasant, but at least we won't be getting snow down here!

Hope you're OK Horse How is work?

I loved the Cranberries too Sad Can you set a timer and just do 10 minutes Jane I often do that if I need motivation. Today I've done very little.

Hope the 5:2 is going well Squirrel

SelenaValentina · 16/01/2018 14:30

Sounds like busy day so far for all?

I've done path lab run, 9 miles today as started earlier. Lull in the middle of it so I could down mug of tea and 2 (Blush) digestive biscuits. Could feel both hips so obviously coming out in sympathy Willow. Booked GP appointment but it's not till end of January. I know it's arthritis but I don't really want to know, iyswim.

Just unlocking car as heavens opened with deluge of sleet, hail and rain. Sun now out!

Now home and raiding the cupboards for chocolate after my mug of home-made soup. Halo

Really must get started on clearing out upstairs, but tomorrow is another day and I'm seeing physio so will be able to rush about Grin then - I wish!

Best of luck with packing book. Wish I could find my travel chargers, was sure I'd put them back in the case.

Willow2017 · 16/01/2018 16:24

Work colleage juat showed me photo of coysin who lives near the hosp standing in a lot of snow!!! Hope its gone by tomorrow.

9 miles! No wonder you are achey Selena

Willow2017 · 16/01/2018 17:42

Coysin??? Cousin!!
Still getting weather warnings for hosp road on local radio. Typical isnt it.

Chasingsquirrels · 16/01/2018 17:58

Sounds like they are being thorough Willow, hopefully the snow won't be too bad for the hospital tomorrow.
My boys camp a fair bit with scouts and ds2 has been asking for at least a year (he is 12 at the end of the month) when he and some friends can go camping on their own.
Cottage looks fun, where is Wales is it?

5:2 was yesterday cake, I came in around 550 calories. Today is just a normal day, and we had pizza lunch for new starters.
Boys both took Charlie for a walk after school but ds1 under the weather ☹.

9 miles Selena !!

OP posts:
NotAChristmasCakePop · 16/01/2018 18:04

9 MILES!!!!???

In awe of the fasting, I just couldn't! I've been a bit of a pig today - due on soon and always like this, but no chocolate in the house or coke - tomorrow is 3 weeks Coke free for me!

Horsemad · 16/01/2018 20:00

Hello, been a busy few days Smile

I'm glad your GP is on it Willow, hope the snow stays away and you get to the hospital Smile

Chasing, well done on the 5:2, a few people at work do it. Might have a go myself but only after all Xmas goodies have gone! Wink I am still eating Xmas cake (only me really who eats it...)

Cake, I am eating for GB at the minute, no idea why, apart from the fact it's there in the cupboard! Where is my willpower?

Maybe I should volunteer in a hospital like Selena - 9 miles is impressive, my Fitbit would love it! Grin

Good luck with the packing book; do you do a 'practise pack' first? Grin

Willow2017 · 16/01/2018 20:52

Evening all.
Hosp is looking a probable no go tomorrow. Radio been updating lots and cross country is pretty bad, lorries stuck at bottom of hills etc. Will have to check in morning dont fancy getting stuck 😀😀

Dont think i could do the diet but i dont eat at work so maybe i do and dont realise it😉
Horse you just reminded me i have only had 2 bits of my xmas cake. Hmmmmmm

Lots of snow off and on all evening. Kids ecstatic when it started at home. Ds2 called me all excited😀 they have been out shoveling it and snowball fighting. Came home to pile of wet shoes (cos putting wellies on would have taken too long?) And wet gloves and hats.
Main road not too bad in bits, gritters out but getting into village dodgy and had to creep along till i got home.
Wonder if they will cancel parents evening tomorrow?

bookbook · 16/01/2018 22:27

Evening all!
gah Willow - that is a real annoyance - I bet you would rather get it over and done with., but Wales to look forward to - it looks lovely :) . It is a big leap letting them out and about on holiday - gosh its hard but necessary. I suppose you can at least use it to get him to help, in as much he needs to know how to do things, and can practise at home to show you .
Selena - 9 miles Shock - no wonder your hips hurt !

Horse - well, I do sort of - but more by packing, the realising it is too heavy, so then have to repack with less Grin
Chasing - hope DS is okay - lots of bugs going around at the moment
Well, it hasn't snowed too much, more sleet than snow, but a bit has laid,. I was out at a committee meeting tonight, and it was all lovely and glittery when I was walking home , really pretty.
Am at a craft club tomorrow, morning so hoping it isn't too icy tomorrow morning.
Sleep well all
