Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

Glad you've got thongs sorted Selena, it's nice when people just get thongs down for you.

Hope you manage some downtime this weekend cake to recharge you for next week. Maybe ds will give you you a lie in tomorrow (fingers crossed).

Interesting to read about the books, although no old ones knocking around here - other than a few reference once I have from my grandparents house.

Not so good on all the rain book, it was quite nice here.

So spoke to teacher, 2 things;

  • she had noticed him on his own a couple of times at lunch and wanted to see how I thought he was settling in. Actually he made a new friend on the first day (and another yesterday - they went to Framlingham Castle and he sat with him on the bus). I'm not worried about this - he can be quite intense and I think sometimes kids his own age find it too much, but he's always got on well enough with most people and has a best friend (not in his year group). I think in time he will learn to moderate his intense-ness (or realise that it can put people off) and he mostly seems to have people he can call on when he wants to, and he and entertains himself when he doesn't. So that's a non-issue I think.
  • they had PHSE day on Wednesday and spent the day with the former teacher. They talked a bit about stress and change management (related to transition to secondary) and he mention he was stressed a bit just about stuff but wasn't able to expand on this. He also spoke to her separately at the end, when she needed to leave to another meeting, and asked her about the email I had sent her (letting her know about John), he knew I'd emailed and has seem her reply. So she is going to talk to her colleagues and also talk to ds2 again and look onto whether they have any support they can access within school.
So really I think that's pretty on the ball of them, and basically I don't think any support would do any harm even if it doesn't help either.

Had a client meeting this morning that didn't finish until 12.30, a friend of John's which is hard, but a good meeting.
Then stopped at a house selling hanging baskets on the way home, which turned out to be a bit pricey but they also had wallflowers at £2 for a dozen so I got 24.
Came home and did some weeding and cutting back etc although didn't get to planting, so I'll be put there again tomorrow. I also have some primulas my mum gave me that need to go in.

Popped round to a friend after I dropped ds2 at judo and just had a move couple of hours with them and another friend.

Squirrels
Glad the school are noticing things even though they are nothing to worry about, and good that they are looking for support for DS.
Phnaar phnaar 'thongs down' Freudian slip?

Off to bed, need to stop watching nature programmes at this time!

Night night.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 30/09/2017 07:46

Morning all

Miraculously DS slept until 7am so that counts as a lie in for me. Thanks for all the sleepy dust sent our way. We have a fair to attend this afternoon and had planned to do some shopping this morning but DS says no, so will leave that for tomorrow then. I do need to go get some food in!

Squirrels I'm pleased school is on the ball. What are you up to this weekend?

Horse is DS still alive? Has the car been behaving?

book how is DGS doing at school?

selena I hope that your tooth behaves and the washing machine too!

Willow I find nature programmes send me to sleep - especially David Attenborough

Have a good day all x

Horsemad · 30/09/2017 08:39

Wow Cake, that IS a lie in for you!

My DS is fine thanks; had a bit of a problem with his new phone and thought it was broken but got it working again thanks to Google!
The car seems to be ok but DH is monitoring the situation so if the temp gauge rises, then it's back to the garage.

It's very autumnal here today. I am going to do housework (boring but necessary!).
The cat is currently grumbling at me to get up and feed her, so that's the first job Smile

Hope everyone has a good day.

SelenaValentina · 30/09/2017 08:56

Oh I got quite excited re thongs, up down wherever!

Just at gym (drinking tea) prior to spinning. Group of blokes arrived - they're so noisy!!

Dampish sort of day - hope a good one for all.

Willow2017 · 30/09/2017 09:04

Morning

7am well done him😀

At swimming and then home to haul ds1 out of bed to go get a winter coat. That will be so much fun.

Ds2 and I didn't want to get up this morning stayed in bed for a cuddle as long as possible.

Sun shining so fingers crossed for a good day.

bookbook · 30/09/2017 09:16

Morning all
Just lolling around with breakfast, need to jump in the shower and then off to the nearest Market Town to pick up nice cheese and bread and have a mooch around .
Nice morning here , if it holds I may pop down to the allotment this afternoon. I have stuff to get planted out , and the weather looks bad for tomorrow.
Cake - a lie in on a weekend not a school day - thats great for you. DGS is doing fine thank you, thoroughly enjoying himself - it would seem they get sponge and custard for pudding everyday Grin , Just got the school photo back - the class one is lovely of him , not sure who the weird smiling little boy is though on the individual one....!
Horse - fingers crossed on the car -
Selena - sounds like hard work so early in the morning
Willow - good luck on the coat hunt - I hate clothes shopping for me, let alone anyone else .
Have a good day all

Chasingsquirrels · 30/09/2017 14:29

Well done cake's ds - another one tomorrow morning please!

Ds2 & I like a cuddle in the morning as well Willow. Yesterday he fell asleep again and when he woke up at 7.30am was very cross with me that I'd let him sleep so late.
Hope the coat shopping goes well, ds1 only had a waterproof and hoodies now as he won't wear a coat to school. Not sure whether ds2's from previous years will still fit him although he also seems to have numerous hoodies and a waterproof. It's quite dry in this part of the country. I on the other hand love my big winter coat, although it's a bit too big for me as I got it before I lost weight.

Hope the weather holds for your planting book. Glorious here and I've just had 2 hours in the garden, planted the wallflowers and other things.

Willow2017 · 30/09/2017 15:37

Why do i put myself through thus svery year?
Got pumpkins to practice on as have new TWD faces to try out. Once got everything ready and ds2 had 'emptied' the pumpkin discovered my craft knives were gone. Must have binned them last year as they were getting on a bit. First attempt but rubbish as template moved a lot but will try again it will be good if I can make it bigger for all the fiddly bits. Must be mad!

Coat shopping went well one shop and done it's a miracle😀

Just spitting on rain now just when 2nd load of washing through typical eh?
Time for a coffee I think.

Hope shopping went well Book .

Squirrels you have been busy, hope you are having a cuppa now after all that hard work.

Willow2017 · 30/09/2017 15:38

Stupid phone.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 30/09/2017 17:52

Hello

We had a quietish day in the end which is probably what we needed. Spent some time (and £20) at the fair, watched some F1 and not that much else TBH.

Rained here too but luckily i took the washing down before we went out.

Willow I think you deserve a treat with swimming lessons and coat shopping!

DS's photos back too - looks remarkably good.

Selena spinning on a Saturday morning! Hats off to you.

I'm hoping we will get another later morning tomorrow too.

Willow2017 · 30/09/2017 18:09

Well that was an interesting half hour!

Sun came out and thought I could put the washing out and ds2 went to do his GPs...cue him knocking on the patio doors and he was being hit by hailstones!
By the time he ran inside there was a blackness covering the sky from the west and then the heavens opened. It was thundering down!
Then the actual thunder.
Then the lightning.
Then after 15 minutes a hailstorm! Garden white, pots full off hailstones, car white.
Then more lightning!
PACK IT IN ITS ONLY SEPTEMBER!

bookbook · 30/09/2017 18:42

Evening all
wow Willow - what on earth is happening with the weather. You won one with the easy coat buy though :)
Cake - sounds a nice day -( apart from the £20 mind - everything seems to cost a fortune for next to nothing these days)
Had a lovely morning shopping. A bit cut short as parking was a nightmare, and only managed to get a 2 hour only place. Had to leave out some of the browsing. Managed to get all plants for spring pots , so I had better get the girls to bring back the summer pots this weekend.
Was rather sad though - our favourite cheese shop/delicatessen is closing down, so that is the last visit. We have been buying our cheese there for over 20 years. We bought quite a bit to tide us over - most will go in the freezer for Christmas, but it's just another nice , independent little shop gone . So we got home early, had a cup of coffee and DH decided to cut the grass as it was dry for the first time for ages. Then DD sad she would be popping in on her way home from the shops. Never got to the allotment, as by the time they left it was heaving down. But it looks like it may be dry tomorrow now, so I haven't missed out much.
Going to have a very slobby evening - bath, strictly and crotchet - maybe even a little bit of chocolate .
Have a good evening all

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 01/10/2017 07:16

Morning all.

Weather is a bit bonkers at the moment isn't it?

Need to shoot off into town for a few bits this morning and doing a roast this afternoon and that's probably it. Should go for a jog tonight so will aim to do that too.

Have a good day!

bookbook · 01/10/2017 09:31

Morning all
well, the weather people got it wrong last night - woke up to rain, and it is still raining. Allotment will have to wait. Can do a bit of a potter in the greenhouse , sort out more tomatoes.
Might just get around to sorting some bits in the loft. We have to go up there to get some plastic boxes down for tomorrow, so may as well see what needs saving/chucking out at the same time.
Everyone here for a meal tonight, and they will be arriving a bit early so a good tidy up and all the prep out of the way before then.
Have a lovely Sunday folks

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 01/10/2017 20:56

Hi all, hope the lack of posts mean everyone has had a good day.

Sure Juan won't mind me sharing that she's starting counselling tomorrow - 31 weeks on. Sure we will all hold her in our thoughts.

Just been out for a jog which went slightly better than Friday. Won't be able to get out again now till Thurs/Fri. Sleep well all x

SelenaValentina · 01/10/2017 21:25

Hope all goes well for Juan and she starts to feel more with it soon.

Yes, been a good day, not weather wise this afternoon though. Hand luggage packed and I've checked 50 million times that passport, print outs, money, food erm Dime bars Blush, train tickets are where I think they are!

Doing spinning at 9 30 so early-ish get up. Then get home, check stuff AGAIN, check all OK for cats, off to 'my' cafe for lunch and then to station for train direct to airport. Few (lot) butterflies but my German's not bad if things go pear-shaped. Or I'll stand and look thick/like a dizzy old woman!!! ie, the normal me. Grin.

Hope everyone OK and gets a good night's sleep.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 01/10/2017 21:41

Have a wonderful trip Selena

bookbook · 01/10/2017 22:23

Evening
been a bit of a packed afternoon , family around - they had left by 7.30
Busy knitting this evening , trying to get a last couple of squares done for Woolly Hugs before I post them off this week, so clickety click tonight :)
Selena - that sounds so like me , double and triple checking everything a little obsessively . Hope you have a lovely trip , and the weather stays fine for you.
Cake - thank you for letting us know about Juan - its a bad time again for her on a Sunday/Monday I know, so I hope the counselling helps her . Please pass on our thoughts and prayers ( and virtual hugs).
I am just hoping the weather is a bit kind to me tomorrow, but high winds due , but with a bit of luck I can get to the allotment, otherwise I am going to be chasing tigers through the weeds ...
Hope Willow and Chasing are okay
Good night all, sleep tight
Thoughts and Prayers

Willow2017 · 01/10/2017 22:34

Selena have a great trip, send us a interweb postcard Smile

Funny old day bit of a set to with ds1 over school/homework. He is going to see his pastoral teacher tomorrow re changing from physics, he really is struggling so may as well do something else he actually understands as extras. Got his school report Friday and apart from physics its pretty good.

Ex came over to see the boys too so had a word with him about it all.

Otherwise busy day, ironing, sewing and cooking and pureeing 50 tons of bloody pumpkin! I have enough puree for a million muffins and pies Grin gonna try the muffins tomorrow if the kids dont like them I will make a pie for me!

Weather been patchy here too, some rain off and on but that light drizzle there all day the annoying stuff you can only just feel.

Hope Book isnt lost in the loft Grin

Hope the councelling goes well for Juan.

Willow2017 · 01/10/2017 22:35

Ahh Book cross posted [girin]
