Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

Morning
Yes doing a couple of hours this morning as have things to do later.

At least it has stopped raining was bucketing down through the night.

bookbook · 28/09/2017 11:14

Morning all
Willow - poor head - I bet it will be sore for a while , but sounds like you are getting in the swing on the volunteer side.
Cake - running in the rain - that is dedication, but I bet it clears your head and allows a bit space to let you relax in a funny sort of way.
Selena - that is such a lovely idea , and yes , one for you of course.
Somer - great to hear from you. I am in awe that you even have the energy to get onto MN - small babies seem to take up however much time you have available.
Chasing - it is always worry when you hear from the teacher - it may of course be something really good - fingers crossed nothing to worry about.
had a bad day yesterday - no sleep , poorly ears and catarrh made me very bleurgh. So didn't do much - tried to get some fresh air by going picking raspberries, and then made banana cake with some over ripe bananas and the raspberries. Some crotchet and that was it. A lot better today - no vertigo at least , so not feeling sick either .
But - I have been knocked sideways today - DSis rang - she and her DH in a bad car crash on Tuesday night. They are both fine, car a write off. No ones fault it seems, just in the wrong place at the wrong time. So we had a very long chat, and cried a lot. . She is very bruised from the seat belt, so has to take it steady for a while. She is normally a busier soul than me with 8 DGS .
So I am truly counting our blessings .

Willow2017 · 28/09/2017 11:54

Book
Gosh what a fright for them. Hope they recover quickly. You too I have had ear troubles years ago and could hardly sit up in bed due to vertigo was horrible. Also had the dizziness if I turn my head too quickly working through that was fun. Take it easy today spoil yourself.😉

Yes thanks am doing ok so far. It's just looking for things on interweb and seeing new price and comparing with eBay actual selling prices to get a rough price for them. It can take an age to find things like watches though so sometimes it seems you are getting nowhere fast! But did good today and discovered an old book is worth £55😀😁😁 Compiling a list of websites they need to unblock to make it easier. Staff keep asking them and getting nowhere.

Popped to opticians but glasses not in yet. Need to go elsewhere to chemist for prescriptions. No rest for the wicked😀going to have a bit of lunch first am starving had no brekkie.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 28/09/2017 14:24

Willow2017 · 28/09/2017 14:28

OOOh they look lovely Cake pass them round Smile

Housework r us today, and washing, what fun. I could actually just curl up on sofa for a nap! Haviing a cuppa and a scone before I attack the next lot.

SelenaValentina · 28/09/2017 15:01

Oh gosh book. What a shock. I was meeting friend today for coffee and had a phone call from another cafe to say she was there recovering from car crash. Someone came out of small entrance and turned right, and right into her. Car write off, when I got down to her she very shaken. Police told her not her fault etc etc but still the hassle of being breathalysed, police statement, paramedics, hire car, ins. co. etc.

Something has not been hooked up properly so the washer is flashing red lights. Confused.

cake, just lob 2 or 3 over here?

willow, me too. Just got in and feel shattered. Gorgeous, sunny, warm day though - makes up for yesterday.

See if I have the strength to totter out to put out grey bin.

Oh and a filling has disintegrated, so dentist for me at 8.45 tomorrow. Grrrr.

Willow2017 · 28/09/2017 15:47

Selena good grief is it bad driver day? Your poor friend hope she feels better soon.
Lovely day here too very warm but good wind for the washing 😉

Oh heck you just reminded me to book our check ups at dentists got a reminder txt.

Chasingsquirrels · 28/09/2017 17:23

Sounds like some hugs needed all round, hope you are feeling better soon book and your sister & Selena''s friend get the car insurance etc sorted quickly.

Good looking cakes Cake, I've just had a sandwich and a chunky kitkat (late lunch but as it's 5pm I might just be an inbetweener).

Spoke to teacher, will post later but not long home and got to take the boys out to clubshortly. Things okay but just a bit concerned about him from a couple of things he said.

Hello all. Oh my goodness I'm tired!

Have some of the left overs Cake DH and DS didn't like them, but luckily DD said they're nice and I thought so too.

Just trying to wrestle DD off to bed. She's hyped up after a drama taster and very tired so homework was like pulling teeth...and she lost a tooth today - it came out and it's gone so currently writing to the tooth fairy to explain Grin

Selena I hope your friend is ok. It's such a shock - even the low speed one I had in the summer.

Squirrel I'm glad the teacher is being pro active if she's noticed something with DS2. (((Hugs))) to you both.

Willow how is the head?

Willow2017 · 28/09/2017 23:42

Cake
Fine thanks, bit sore first thing but soon cleared up. Imagin not wanting those cakes!!

Hope everyone is having a good evening. Am watching totp2 takes me back Smile Oh Adam Ant was gorgeous !

Horsemad · 29/09/2017 07:29

Flowers for book's sis & bil and Selena's friend. Makes you realise how fast things can change. Hope all feeling ok now. Then you have all the admin hassle afterwards...

Can't imagine ever turning down Cake Cake!!! Who does that?!

Sounds like your DS's teacher is on the ball chasing and communication is vital, so well done to her.

Willow, aah Adam Ant, that takes me back! Paul Young was my heart throb in the 80s, loved him! Smile

bookbook · 29/09/2017 10:56

Morning all
a very wet day here , and I put a load of washing in, stupid eh?
Selena - horrible isn't it - feelings of there but for the grace. We all take for granted being safe in our car somehow. My DDad always used to say drive as if everyone else is an idiot. Just as pertinent now as when I first stared driving over 40 years ago.
Willow - it is fascinating finding out what things are worth - but also what price people will pay too . For books -have you seen this website ?its a very good way of checking prices, and rarity HERE
Cake - I cannot believe you had leftovers from those cupcakes - is the cone the sponge, and do you have special bun cases fro them? Not surprised you are tired.
Chasing - that does sounds as if the teacher is on the ball, and flagging up things of concern before they get to be a problem .
Adam Ant Grin - I used to go to aerobics, and dance to one of his hits !
Horse - thank you - hope you are having a nice non boss work time .

Willow2017 · 29/09/2017 12:42

Book
Thats the very website I found the book on! Just by accident putting the title and author in search engine. Thanks though I will use it in future when needed. Actually just noticed its £65 not £55!

Soon be time to go for kids, here endeth the peace and quiet. 3 kids squabbling over xboxes and pc Smile They dont want to do anything 'structured' after a week of school. And its raining again so nowhere to go to burn off some energy.

Just been pottering doing housework and sorting out washing piles (taking bets on how long it sits around the bedroom Wink )

Catch up latter.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 29/09/2017 17:50

Hi all, just a quick check in. Full of dominos blush just utterly exhausted.

Book, I just stood them in a muffin tray. They have flat bottoms though.

SelenaValentina · 29/09/2017 18:31

Filling sorted, not usual dentist but very nice, washer sorted. I phoned the heating firm who'd been working here last and got the lovely fanatical boss. 'Is it just a pipe been turned off?' I don't know, I said, just know it was working before the fitter came and please don't get technical because I don't know.

I just wonder if I sounded at the end of my tether Blush as the reply came, 'Don't worry, I'm about this morning, I'll just do it when I'm passing.' And he did Smile. Washer not stopped since!

Hair sorted too, so all in all a busy, productive day - ish.

I want some ice cream, but will have to go out to get it so can I be bothered?

bookbook · 29/09/2017 19:07

Willow - that has been a very useful website to me for years . I still sell a few rare/collectable books in a small way. (Just one tip though on books - check descriptions on condition- it can make a vast difference in what people are prepared to pay)
Tooth done in time to settle down before you go away Selena - always a good plan . It is nice when people do as they say - amazing what a simple thing can make a machine go wrong .
Cake -sounds like you are ready for bed - not coming down with something I hope .
It has been a very boring day here. It rained until well after lunch , so did lots of bits of things. It finally cleared up , but by them too late to go out and do much, so did a bit of weeding, clearing the garden , made tea and thats about it . Looking a bit poor for the weekend too .
Hope you are okay Chasing

Willow2017 · 29/09/2017 19:32

Evening all.

Book yes will do thanks. This one has a bit damage to dust cover (I must remember to ask them not to lump books in with other stuff as there was a box set there too with a dent in box all which could have happened in the box of stuff for me to look through) but there was a whole range of prices up to 1st editions which were much more. 😀 must be a reasonably rare or sought after book. Even saw it on American book websites for well over $100.

Selena glad tooth and washer sorted two things less to worry about before hols.

Rained until mid afternoon and Sun came out! Too late for washing though will have to hang it upstairs. Sent ds2 to bring it in at 7 as starting to just get grey dark and now its it's totally dark and moon shining in patio doors! Thats scary!

Horsemad · 29/09/2017 19:33

Ooh, a friend of mine bought a rare book for about £25 and sold it for £5K!!! My DH is also a bit of a collector - he went to the York Book Fair recently and bought another one... Grin

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 29/09/2017 19:38

Right, I'm back.

Just tired I think and next week will be even busier as I'm doing my first aid course 2 evenings and DH working late a 3rd!

My parents are getting a puppy tomorrow - rather them than me!

Have a good evening all. Squirrels hope you and DS2 are OK.

Willow2017 · 29/09/2017 19:41

Wow that was a lucky find ( or did they know what it was when they bought it?).

Horsemad · 29/09/2017 19:45

He knew what it was worth Willow Wink

Willow2017 · 29/09/2017 19:50

Jammy!

Horsemad · 29/09/2017 19:58

Yep! Smile

bookbook · 29/09/2017 20:03

Its all about what you know :)

Willow2017 · 29/09/2017 20:11

I have a couple of very old childrens books. Tried sending photos to a book dealer many years ago but they didn't have a clue and wouldn't out put any value in them despite never having seen anything like them before and their excellent condition. Might try that site. They are an abc book large shiney paper pages and one shaped like a hexagonal dinnerplate with willow pattern in front. It has a story to go with the pictures. They are gorgeous books they were my grannys books. Never seen their like. Suppose I should look online now, wasn't that option back then.
