The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Go Sober For October?

Mouseface · 09/09/2017 15:55

Hello, 'tis me, Mouseface, welcome to the Bus, aka Gerarld. Smile

We're a bus full of various Babes, from those who are as dry the Sahara, those who drink in moderation, those who binge drink and can go for weeks without a drop and then fall arse over tit (pardon the french!) straight off the bus and into the sidecar, and then we have Babes who try every single day to give up.

The thing is, we all do 'this' ONE DAY AT A TIME and with passion too. You have to WANT to stop with every fibre of your being.

And that's what this bus is about. We support each other. No matter how many times you fall of the Bus, we'll always be here to scoop you back up and listen.

So, come and join us. Lurk, or grab a seat, make sure you're comfy and enjoy the journey as we talk about the dreaded drink, plus everything from how expensive Tena Lady's are, to what's in the slow cooker! Grin

We don't judge, this isn't a competition, it's our lives. Smile

And if you'd like to read the last thread, HERE IT IS

Plus, if you'd like to see where the Bus started out, you can RIGHT HERE

Hope to see you soon xx

Well done on 10 days Grin

Margie32 · 20/09/2017 07:21

Morning Babes and welcome to all newbies.

Lux, I did a Clinique face mask last night and thought of you! This whole thing about being AF making your skin glow is massively untrue in my case - I've currently got the complexion of a teenage boy.

Spanna, loved the photos, great to see you.

Dubh, so good to hear from you, have missed hearing about life with the terrorist!

Special big hug to my old pal Elba.

Happy Wednesday Babes! Day 33 here and feeling good.

MintToBee · 20/09/2017 07:37

Up at 5.30 this morning fixing the washing machine. Not the best start to the day! 😂
Well done on 33 daysMargie! I did a overnight face peel mask thing and my skin feels like sandpaper.
Right, I have 39 mins to get myself together and out the door.
Have a lovely day everyone.

RubyRed2017 · 20/09/2017 10:45

MintToBe crikey thats an early start! I am not a morning person whether I am AF or not. In fact I sleep better when AF!

Well I am on Day 15 of my moderation journey. I have had 10/14 nights AF and have only drunk on nights when I have gone out, which was my aim. In the last week my total consumption has only been one G&T and two small pub glasses of wine.

I have several nights out in a row now so will need to try and moderate, I am driving tonight so that will keep a lid on things. i am pleased that I have made good progress so far. I hope I can stick to the resolution not to drink at home!

guggenheim · 20/09/2017 13:22

Ooh good luck mint also hope washing machine is fixed.

ruby I'm just starting on my 2 nd af month and I've got loads more energy now. It improved from about day15 , so expect to be bouncing around like an unstrung balloon any minute now.

aHEM- why yes, these jeans DO seem to fit a little better now. They even do up for the first time in months. It's this special diet I've been on you see... : )

RubyRed2017 · 20/09/2017 13:44

guggenheim thanks for the great news! I'm looking forward to bouncing around like a balloon and being less balloon-shaped!

spanna41 · 20/09/2017 14:25

Hi Babes

Ruby tis true - I was 10.5 stone before I gave up booze, I'm now 9 stone Shock apart from ditching the booze I've not changed my diet at all, in fact I seem to have a much sweeter tooth - probably replacing all that wine sugar Grin Sleep will improve and you won't feel so knackered - that - I promise Flowers

Margie wow - go you - 33 Days - do you remember when you couldn't get passed a few days?? You are awesome babe xxxx

Mint I hope your first day is going well x

It must be something in the air - I colleague pinged me over a job (my dream job - other than not working at all!!!!) and I had little time (24 hours) to get the application in, any how they want to interview me and I'm cacking myself!!! 10am tomorrow - 10 minute written test, and then a 20 minute presentation Shock anyway I've chucked a sickie for 2 days to prep and I've just finished the presentation.
Thank God there is no likelihood of being hungover in the morning, that's a relief but I really really want this job
So please send me your positive vibes on the moro x

MintToBee · 20/09/2017 14:38

spanna41
Oh sending you heaps of luck and I've crossed the dogs paws too.

spanna41 · 20/09/2017 14:40

Thanks Mint - you know what it's like when you really want it. I feel a bit sick FFS. How's your day going?

RubyRed2017 · 20/09/2017 14:48

oooh spanna41 this is sounding better and better! I definitely need to lose weight, I am a good 20lb heavier than I was just a few years ago before I hit forty. I got my current (dream) job in circumstances like yours so there is hope. In fact I actually missed the deadline as I only came across the advert by accident. I sent it in a day late and put an apology in the covering email, luckily they decided to consider it and here I am 4 years on its the best career move I ever made. So good lcuk!

Mint I didnt realise it was your first day in new job today, good luck with that !

MintToBee · 20/09/2017 15:28

spanna41
I do know that feeling well. I almost puked the morning of my interview. I really hope yours go well. I'll be flinging good vibes your way tomorrow morning.🍀🍀🍀
Today has been fantastic. Everyone's lovely. They had to practically throw me out the door at 3! 😂
I really can't wait till tomorrow. It's been a long time since I've looked forward to working.
AND PUPPIES!!!!!!!

Ruby
Thank you. 😁
I applied on the deadline for this one too, on spur of moment after four years of rejection.
Plus yes, going AF is great for weight loss. Especially the puffy face!

Did I mention the PUPPIES?

Grin
Margie32 · 20/09/2017 15:33

Yep I'm still happy thanks.

Mint so glad your day was good.
Ma hope it's going well for you?

On the whole a positive vibe on the bus right now which is lovely to read, the twists and turns of life eh?

I also think of babes we haven't heard of for a while and hope they're ok. Perhaps just reading for now not posting.

I'm off to bed now, sweet dreams x

holdthewine · 21/09/2017 00:02

Thanks for asking Spanna.

Been crazily busy yesterday and today. Unexpectedly have DC and family moved in due to builder problems (have had to move out of flat but house isn't ready). So did succumb to wine witch (WW) last night but two small glasses of red only and tonight, after literally running round all day, as I had pre-arranged commitments, I had one small gin with a lot of tonic so feel quite pleased that even under duress I've stuck to my moderation if not to my aim of AF this week.

But have had such fun with the DGC today that's its worth it and I can't afford hangovers in next few weeks anyway so every cloud.....

Off to catch up on all the news on this busy bus now!

holdthewine · 21/09/2017 00:10

mumof3dogs and mydearfriend how are you both, still bouncing with me in the back seat? Sounds a bit dodgy but you know what I mean Hmm

Dystopiandreaming · 21/09/2017 08:17

Day 12 here and AF. It's been a lot less difficult than on previous attempts so far, maybe because I am busy in the evenings with the baby. I am feeling much more positive and have even signed up to a language course.

MintToBee · 21/09/2017 08:25

Dances in waving Pom Poms for spanna
Good Luck today!

holdthewine I had half a glass of Pinot last night. I didn't really fancy it either, just habit I guess. It knocked me right out. I was in bed by 9.30! I'll join you and my dear friend on the back seat.

Ma soldier oggling eh? Wink

rupertpenryswife · 21/09/2017 12:08
