How did you get through it? Was it really for the best?

Hi Tanee

Found more flies than bugs but enjoyed the walk. Had to stop off at the bakery for a custard tart though due to lack of bugs much to DD delight. I am shattered!!! I think i need to recharge my batteries! Since i got ill i seem to do a good impression of one of those bunnies in the duracell ad, I can go on for so long then i start winding down, getting slower and slower

The reason i asked about your DP and his drinking was I wondered how he coped with the alcohol and his work. If the drinking affected his ability to learn his lines etc. Or, if he managed to cut it out altogether when working.
You sound to be back on track now, well, as back on track as you can be anyway. You seem to be having a better time of it. I'm pleased for you.
Keep smiling Tanee

Glad you've had a nice afternoon

Off to get ds now but will post/e-mail you when I can over the weekend xx

Ifonlyhewould · 13/04/2007 16:05

ok.

You have a nice weekend if we don't manage to catch up. Be gentle with him! {grin}

IOHW - was looking out for your posts to see how your bug hunt went Cakes sound much better! Don't overdo it in your attempt to be SuperMum though will you. Maybe feet up and nice DVD for both of you tonight?

MLS - you're probably gone already but hope you have a nice weekend with DH and DS. You'll feel better when you can have a daylight face to face chat with him about it rather than a rushed night-time or via text one. It's a new challenge for you both but I'm sure you'll beat this

Ifonlyhewould · 13/04/2007 16:32

Hi CnC

That sounds like a great idea. To be honest I don't think i'm going to have much choice. It's a good kob my clubbing days are over!

Ifonlyhewould · 13/04/2007 16:33

I meant job! That could have been an embarrassing misspell!!

OP posts:
Cashncarry · 13/04/2007 16:40

ROFL - yes, 'tis a good k*ob

and LOL again at your comment on QP's thread about Tricia and Jeremy Kyle

that thread has made me very - I do hope she's ok....

Ifonlyhewould · 13/04/2007 17:05

I hope so too, it really is heartbreaking. I hope SS work with QP to keep DS with her rather than take him away. I feel so sad for the little thing. I just hope if he does go it won't worsen QP's feelings of worthlessness.
I think her DH is another one for the heavy frying pan brigade!!

OP posts:
Cashncarry · 13/04/2007 17:09

I'm going to drive round to her DH's place on my way home, frying pan in hand

Gotta go - speak tonight probably

Take it easy, won't you?

Ifonlyhewould · 13/04/2007 17:11

give him one for me!!

Will do. Thank you for caring. You really are a lovely person, despite your oestrogen dominance your posts in QP's thread have been quite something else. XX

OP posts:
Tanee58 · 13/04/2007 17:38

I think there'd be quite a queue of us waiting to use the frying pan!!

IOHW, cakes are not as good for you as bugs! Cakes are all sugar and carbs - bugs are all protein & they'r so nice and crunchy!!

No, luckily dp is very sensible about drinking when he's learning lines and on stage - he likes going to the park to practice them out loud though, so he probably looks like one of those winos you sometimes see - walking around waving his arms around and talking to nobody, though he's actually quite sober! The drinking only starts in the evening, after the show - and never if he's driving, thank God. My A level English teacher used to say that it's a poor actor who goes on stage drunk - I remember him bawling out a boy during a school production for having a can of lager backstage.

Anyway, he seems more cheerful at the moment, but I do wish one of the temp agencies he's signed with comes up trumps soon.

Going home now - it's been a long week at work - can't wait to get back to part-time in two weeks ...

Hope you all have a good weekend. xx

Morning all just managed to grab half an hour to pop in. Can see most of you busy this weekend so hope you all have a good one. x

Ifonlyhewould · 14/04/2007 11:21

Good morning Lily

Hope you are having a good weekend too, it's lovely here today and, thanks to all the recent stresses i've managed to slip more than comfortably in my summer clothes!!

Other than that, nothing happening here. Me and DD just chilling today. xx

OP posts:
Cashncarry · 14/04/2007 15:26

Hi Guys Glad to see IOHW and Lilyloo having a good weekend - enjoy the sunshine. DD and I have just been feeding the ducks and hopefully she will nap for a bit so I can get my MN fix

Getting into summer clothes sounds good IOHW but don't lose too much will you? I'm tending to overeat at the mo - too much time alone methinks Will have to make a plan to get rid of my lardiness! Any tips (other than stress dieting!)...

LilyLoo · 14/04/2007 21:53

Tips welcome here too cnc it only takes a peek at the summer wardrobe to get that feeling of dread

Cashncarry · 15/04/2007 22:18

IOHW - how are you today? I've been thinking of you and DD and hoping you had a nice last day together before she goes back to school tomorrow

Lilyloo - ah yes, that feeling of dread is very familiar to me Thank goodness the weather is going to turn a bit this week and I can get those baggy jumpers back out

Ifonlyhewould · 16/04/2007 13:00

Hi CnC
Thank you for thinking of me, it's really nice to know someone thinks of me, i'm not used to that
I'm not too bad thank you, feeling a bit better today after a not so good day yesterday. Think DD has worn me out
She is still home with me today, she doesn't go back to school until next monday. I'm cheating today though and have put CeBeebies on for her, well, it is educational too so I don't feel too guilty.

I hope all is well in your corner. I'm just taking 5 to catch up on all the other threads. Feed my addiction

Take care x

OP posts:
mylittlestar · 16/04/2007 13:44

Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling 100%. You being supermum must have taken it's toll! Remember to look after yourself as well as dd and all of us!

Cbeebies is essential watching for the young generation, IMO, so I think you've done the right thing!

Ifonlyhewould · 16/04/2007 13:52

Thanks for that MLS. DD has had a lunch not dissimilar to QP's DS too. A sort of 'picnic for much loved children of tired mum's' lunch. No fruit shoots though so thats got to be a plus! xx

OP posts:
mylittlestar · 16/04/2007 14:08

How about this for nutrition then... we were at a bbq yesterday and all ds managed to eat for his lunch, was a plain white burger roll (no burger, no cheese, not even any butter on it, nothing!) a packet of wotsits and some chocolate!! And I wasn't even feeling tired or unwell.

Managed to get some cous cous and chicken down him for tea.

But even that was followed by some more chocolate...!

I bet he's giving grandma and grandad a hard time today when they try to give him steamed fish and vegetables!

Ifonlyhewould · 16/04/2007 14:25

Years ago i popped in to see a friend and found her son having lunch of sherbert sticks dipped in tomato ketchup!! She never batted an eyelid! Apparantly it was a regular meal for him. She managed to bat both eyelids though when he had to have most of his baby teeth removed due to decay.

Usually i'm pretty good with DD (and DP!) home cooked meals with lots of veg. Not that i'm bragging or anything But DD does have a liking for chocolate too, not so sure about steamed fish, iv'e not pushed her that far yet

OP posts:
mylittlestar · 16/04/2007 14:29

sherbert sticks dipped in tomato ketchup - I'll remember that next time I'm struggling for meal ideas!

ds's grandad buys him fresh salmon and cooks it with fresh veg - ds absolutely loves it!

I'm more of a ready meal mum myself
