The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Swinging Into Sobriety!

Hello there,

I'm Mouse, one of the Brave Babes travelling far and wide, stopping off here and there to collect lovely folk, just like you, for a natter all about booze and the blues that come with being a drinker of whatever quantity.

We don't wear or sell judgey pants here, although a G-string or two (Oooh Matron!) has been known to sort the fan belt out on the Bus as we've been driving for such a long time now!!

In short, we've regular posters here, lurkers, those who have managed to keep their drinking to 'social' occasions, some who are really struggling on an hourly basis and some who are completely dry!

Whatever your drinking 'status', you're welcome here in the new bigger Battle Bus, (as requested) whilst we head far and wide, listening to one another, as we face each day that comes our way, whether it be good, bad or downright ugly, we really have seen it all and don't mind one bit. Lurk or chat, it's up to you but one thing you will always find, is a warm welcome, Opal Fruit wrappers (Looks at Ma bosom push up! ) and of course, in complete confidentiality.

I'm reading but there is too much going on to NC, I'm struggling with the heat as I recover and I usually love the sunshine.

ma the thing is that it being beyond your capability is ONLY in your own mind as your invitation to interview on the strength of your application shows.
They REALLY would not waste time with anyone they were not sure of.
So, I have just been through a job hunt and interviews and I know how nervous you are.
Prepare prepare prepare. I learned things BY HEART so that even if nervous I would know what to say. It worked really well. I know this because for the first interview (didn't get job - but am defo capable of it) I didn't and my answers were confused and too short!
I wrote answers on postcards and carried them around.
You can do this
Done 3 AF this week and one day 2 G&Ts and am happy with that.
Meal with 2 friends tonight (DS off to his Dad's) but will not overdo it.
The trip to the awful hometown and realising the past is actually gone has done me good, thanks dubh.

Good morning all! Boiling up here again today, what a treat

still loving your tea trolley! What are you up to in London? There is nothing worse than misjudging the hair dye box, I've been a bit Elvis a few times thanks to a momentary lapse, dark brown my arse.

No more dye though for me, it's been quite liberating. Once it grew out that is. The two tone look wasn't that fun. I think it looks so much better now it's short, more 'me' somehow.

I get my Botox today. I hope it works. Headaches have been very bad lately.

Unfortunately no shifts yet in friends place. She's struggling for customers but she's going on holiday soon so I'll be covering her.

It's fabulous weather here again. 70 in my little corner of Scotland so I'm washing the pillow's and duvets.

I have tomatoes appearing on my patio pot too.

Thank you all. I must admit to being major wobbly. I have been trawling linked in and looking at the profiles of some of the people on the team and they are all way more qualified and experienced than I am. I'm not being modest - this is a huge leap up from anything I have ever done before. I have 2 weeks to get my confidence up.

Now, sorry for boring everyone with dd2s africa photos but this was too good not to. This is what happens when a small black child sees white skin for the first time! She was so baffled she apparently sat like that unmoving all afternoon!!!

Hi ma I'm loving the Africa photos. Share away, they must make you grin from ear to ear! You must be really proud. Also on the job front, yes yes focus on you. And aim high. Honestly it strikes me that we are all capable of so much more and we limit ourselves. In fact, just look at what your daughter is doing!

I am hoping to be AF tonight 3rd in a row. Early start for day trip to London.

Of course you can do the job. Stop googling and start making lists of transferable skills, amazing talent and personal traits. That's what they are looking for. So when was your last interview?

Hi guggs. Last interview was 10 years ago! I will certainly be the least qualified and least experienced candidate. I've never operated at such a senior executive level and am worrying about making a complete arse of myself in front of tough interview panel....wibble

Dubh sounds like the terrorist is being a little bugger didn’t have a chance to look at the menu, but had cheesy mushrooms on garlic bread to start, chicken and leek tagliatelle for main and lemon tart for dessert so yum Lil has been shade bathing (under the sun lounger) and making sure no birds invade her garden. Parents brought leftover steak home for her so she has had steak for tea, is now in bed (spoilt dog)
Ma awesome news about your interview, well done and good luck! Is v hot here too and have got the fan down for my room. Not even been even able to sunbathe due to work, hope it will stay nice until Sunday evening at least as I finish work 4pm Sunday so will be able to get a bit of sunbathing in.
Hello everyone I’m good, going to bed soonish as up early in morning. Working earlier tomorrow so SW leader has agreed to weigh me earlier (sob… I’ve so been off plan and have prob gained eleventy billion pounds, it seems my ankle and exercise routine went down the plan and so did my motivation). Ankle not so bad, although I did get up this morning and it killed to stand on, probably slept awkwardly. Marvellous weather here but first sunbathing opportunity sunday so it’d better stay nice til then

A gorgeous morning this morning although I don't think the sun will last all day which is a shame. To read the "heatwave" thread you would think we were all slow dying in tropical temperatures, rather than having a couple of days of warmth. It's very welcome up here.

Yes I have just realised that now after all this time!
And she loves to get more n more wine. Then my judgement goes and pffft. So, I need to be ready for that next time and have a strategy.

I am going to Manchester later for the aft and a meal because I sort of need to be in the city centre after Monday and support the businesses and so on.
Will be drinks, but then that's it for a few days again.
It's cooler here but bright and I am sitting in my overgrown green green garden with a brew.
Hope everyone is okay and for all those like me who wish last night had gone differently, no self loathing, just try and reflect on it and be compassionate with yourself.

I've been off today, so have batch cooked some food to see me through the next few weeks when I get home and can't be arsed. Lasagne, curry, soup, stovies and chicken casserole.

So tempted for a shandy today but resisted. I'm off tomorrow and I'm sure that would have been me teetering on a slippery slope.

So I had a milkshake and now my throat feels claggy.

Lil sounds fabulous, and very lucky to get some steak! I can just see her indignant little face - and her skirt all a-shake at the interlopers having the balls to fly into her airspace. And there's are fair few of those fly over going on and off the rigs.

We've got a few clouds here now, it's starting to cool down a wee bit.

All my washing is done and has dried with the smell of sunshine and fresh cut grass. Nowt better. Will iron tomorrow. Jaws is on tonight, I love that film. 🦈

Cooling down here too but has been gorgeous all day. Do love hearing about your mutt dubh. I do miss having a pet but the road outside our house is a 40 job so it's not going to happen.

ma right then , my lovely. Experience is not necessarily what they are looking for. So another candidate might be Magrat who has 8 million years of expaerience in the field (whatever it is you do). Your massive advantage over Magrat is that she will have fixed views about how x,y and z should be done. Lots of places prefer someone who is new and fresh and they can train up in their own way. Tell them that you are very flexible and open to new ideas ( don't snigger like Babs Windsor when you say it)
Right come on babes, who's been to an interviw recently / interviewed someone. Bet there are some really clever babes who will know what to do. (Has a glare round bus)

Happy bank holiday babes.i always used bank holidays to overindulge but am quite happy with a brew tonight.

I have been to London today - postman's park and st dunstan's in the east and then yoga. Back sharpish to miss the twats football fans.

I am going to have a shower and a face pack I think. I am contemplating wine - maybe, but dp is home tomorrow from being away and I know we will drink...I wouldn't normally drink after yoga but the train journey has knocked that out of me a bit.
