One word to describe your marriage...?

Just for fun/interest.

My dh asked me for one word to describe our marriage (inspired by a question on Broadchurch) and I went for 'challenging' - not meant in a negative way but from this being my third marriage (divorce, widowed), his second, we both have children/adult children from previous marriages, work, money and all that. And sometimes I find it challenging because he is so nice to me and I am not used to that! We have a great life with the normal ups and downs.

I asked him and he said 'A Work In Progress', which is four words! However forgiving him for that, I do get where he is coming from with having to put effort into our relationship and not just coasting. We have had some interesting times over our five years together and some changes to deal with but really do try and bring the focus back to just him and me when we can.

Your marriage/relationship in one word?

Loyal

This is so difficult! There are so many facets to a marriage that it's impossible to pick one word to sum up the relationship all of the time. But whatever else is going on in life, we can always be found in each other's corner so loyalty is a biggie for us.

Oh, come on....?!? Really........you do know that the Earth will eventually be consumed by the Sun in about 5.2 billion years? Brian Cox said so. He will go poof as well. If you really want your love to last then we need a vote on independence.

Vote Solarexit now!

Bittersweet.

My wonderful soulmate DH has inoperable cancer which is heartbreaking but we sometimes manage to forget and then it's all as lovely as ever. We've faced a number of challenges - but if I'd known I'd still have chosen him.

notanothernamechangebabes · 21/03/2017 22:19

Determined.

It's not easy- we fell pregnant soon after meeting so we're building our relationship as partners at the same time as building our family- which means we both need lots of patience, respect and understanding... and we're both pretty fiery characters with pretty sad backstories that make us quite defensive.

But we're doing it, one day at a time. And I'm certain we'll make it. For DS. But for us too.
