One word to describe your marriage...?

Just for fun/interest.

My dh asked me for one word to describe our marriage (inspired by a question on Broadchurch) and I went for 'challenging' - not meant in a negative way but from this being my third marriage (divorce, widowed), his second, we both have children/adult children from previous marriages, work, money and all that. And sometimes I find it challenging because he is so nice to me and I am not used to that! We have a great life with the normal ups and downs.

I asked him and he said 'A Work In Progress', which is four words! However forgiving him for that, I do get where he is coming from with having to put effort into our relationship and not just coasting. We have had some interesting times over our five years together and some changes to deal with but really do try and bring the focus back to just him and me when we can.

Your marriage/relationship in one word?

My DH said 'family'. Seems to suggest I've perhaps not been very affectionate lately.

I'd say 'easy'.

Painful (emotionally) I'd love to be able to say loving, caring, fulfilled but not right now

Exclusive, in the sense that we are in a little club of our own. We fiercely protect our little bubble.

Satisfying.

We've been together since we were 16. 18 years this year. We've grown up together. He's got everything I need even when it might not be what I want.

I hope we are lucky enough to grow old together.
