Really well done User, that's great. And we'll done everyone so far during party season. Vxa what about using the word "temperance". I read in the paper recently that temperance bars are increasing...not seen one though ! Hope Jojo is doing ok. KOKO.

Captainladder · 15/12/2016 12:25

Club anything is gud, imho - inclusive and with a purpose. Is there anything else that can be used instead of soda? And would it be an idea to have a 'strap line'?
So it could come as "Club Whatevers - for women wanting to stop drinking." (or what's best) - so the first bit is short and catches attention and the second bit explains what it's about.
Like "Mumset - by parents, for parents".

Even "The DRY Club - for women saying no to booze."

vxa2 · 15/12/2016 12:43

You are such a talented inventive bunch - yes I think the strap line approach is good xxx

So now I have:

Dry Club - women waving goodbye to wine o clock or

Dry Club - for women saying no to booze

Votes please . Xx

For women saying no to booze

Loubilou09 · 15/12/2016 13:13

Prefer the first one

NotTodayThanks2 · 15/12/2016 13:28

I'd vote 'saying no to booze' - or alcohol. 'booze' could be a bit meh for some people. 'alcohol' is a bit more exact, iyswim

NotTodayThanks2 · 15/12/2016 21:12

Steady! What with all of this mad cap voting!!

BGJ42 · 15/12/2016 22:38

Good Evening,

Just checking in - still AF, 19 days today Xmas Smile

Thursday would previously have been the 'back shift buffet' which mostly entailed drinking a bottle of red wine in bed to celebrate the end of the working week... But not so tonight despite the car being FULL of booze!!

My contribution to the Christmas day festivities for three families is to bring the wine - traditionally my offering and also agreed before I decided to chuck the booze. Felt a little odd to buy a case of wine I'm not going to drink, but actually what difference does it make - even I wouldn't have drunk a case of wine, and without having to compensate for my own over indulgences it actually cost less this year. Treated me to some elder flower fizzy drinks, some becks blue and ton of san pelligrino (the fizzy water i usually balk at paying the price for......)

The other booze will be given away, I'm nervous to keep any of it in the house... My car clinks when I corner, and god forbid I am in an accident as the stink would be epic...... Try explaining why you reek of whisky, gin, vodka and wine but are claiming to be sober.....

So onto the last weekend before the Christmas push... Meeting some friends, have to drive so no great temptation over and above the usual ones...

Onwards my sober chums - we are fab-u-lous!

misscookie · 15/12/2016 22:48

Dry Divas

I think it's a great idea - but it will depend where you pitch it

Morning up ready for early dog walk!

vxa wish I lived nearer I would love to go to your group.

Sorry not posting much but doing well. Went to a big gig Saturday sober. I've also used an app this time to cut out sugar too which is going well. I think often the craving for alcohol and sugar go hand in hand.

I read this thread everyday sorry I don't post more but KOKO everyone.

Feel the need to report a serious wobble last night.

I had a bit of frustrating news early evening, re an affair of the heart - bit of a disappointment really, which I will get over.

BUT the auto trigger seemed to be 'well get a bottle and a pack of cigs and all will be well'. Despite feeling rock solid for so long THIS little bastard STILL looks to get in and mess things up. I am the happiest and healthiest I have been for a looong time. And yet the vulnerability was made plain. I was on a train when it hit so couldn't post and was still processing it all last night. Just scary how on guard one has to be at all times, esp at times of pressure.

Really saved by practicing the gratitudes and thinking how doubly awful things would be in the morning IF I EVER took another drink.

Very sobering.

Wishing all a happy, healthy and sober Friday!!

userformallyknownasuser1475360 · 16/12/2016 07:35

nottoday everyone has a wobble sometimes, those that don't are either not human or liars.

I've heard it said that the "wine witch" as called on here is very crafty....while we are not drinking she is going to the gym, studying and doing everything she can - to be ready to hit when we are weak. The other issue with the lil bitch is that she plants something in our head that says we don't have an issue, that we have been off it so long we are cured, we can just have one. Don't listen to her.

Well done on staying sober last night and not taking the first drink, it's winning battles like this that send the WW into the corner and make it a bit harder for her to get out next time.

NotTodayThanks2 · 16/12/2016 07:39

yes user - it shocked me just how vulnerable I was, but then reminded myself yesterday was only day 25. I am a mere baby!

throughtheviolets · 16/12/2016 07:45

Flowers a massive well done to you nottoday for remaining strong. It sounds like you had a tough day. How are you feeling this morning?

Have woken up feeling resolute ahead of my work Christmas party. I've made a quick pit stop at Waitrose (where I'd NEVER normally shop) before work for AF treats to enjoy when everyone is quaffing champagne in the office. I'm braced for a testing day but only I can do this.

Hope everyone has a brilliant Friday.

NotTodayThanks2 · 16/12/2016 08:04

I'm fine today violets - I've adjusted my head re the disappointment and re-commited to NOTHING dragging me back to the early days of 'illness' which is such a part of early days recovery. cold turkey from cigs and booze together is such a challenge I am just not going through it again.

well done on preps for tonight! Wisdom says you need a plan doesn't it? And yes, you can and will do this. Look fwd maybe to climbing into bed entirely sober this evening.

userformallyknownasuser1475360 · 16/12/2016 13:50

Nottoday - you are by no means a sober baby, I bet you if you look in your street there was at least one person who drank last night.

At time of writing you are in the same age of sobriety as me TODAY 13hrs and 49 minutes. The fact that I started before you doesn't matter - in this game it's the first to finish that's the loser.

Loubilou09 · 16/12/2016 14:41

Sigh....day 1 again for me Sad

But.....I got to 92 days which I have never done before!

NotTodayThanks2 · 16/12/2016 14:54
