Sounds like a great idea. Wish we had something like that here!

Thank you, all of you, for the support last night. And user I understand now what you were trying to say :)

vxa2 · 14/12/2016 12:48

I am in Birmingham. Anyone who thinks they might be interested is welcome to PM me. Smile

Thanks sobersarah believe it or not it's been annoying me all morning

Loubilou09 · 14/12/2016 15:27

vxa - I think it is a GREAT idea, and good for you for thinking of starting something like that up!

Personally I don't like the word "sober" I don't really know why and maybe it is head burying but I prefer Alcohol Free. Sober has connotations of out of control pissheads on park benches and I haven't sunk to that low yet, sober also to me makes me think I was always DRUNK rather than someone who liked a drink. It would put me off I think....I would rather join an AF group rather than a Sober group - mad as that might appear!!

userformallyknownasuser1475360 · 14/12/2016 18:57

Vxa I think you might spend the first few weeks on your own at the group. I think the idea is good, but I think the stigma of going to any type of group about alcohol intake might keep people away?

vxa2 · 14/12/2016 19:32

Thanks for that user Hmm

Vxa2 what a great idea. I read your blog...although I don't comment. (I'm sorry, I should do because it's really good. Extremely well written)

Anyway, I saw on there that you were considering this.
Ok, re the name.....
It's a bit ..... Pardon the pun here but ..... "Dry" Grin
It could do to be a bit punchier, a bit more funkier. And I agree with Lou about the word Sober.....

Do a bit of googling/research. Think "brand"
Also, I think you will get plenty of interest as it's soon going to be Dry Jan, etc ..... and in reality, loads of people would love to quit/reduce intake.

Are you considering outing yourself IRL to drum up support?? I'll be honest, if it were me, I would. But then that's just me, I don't care what people think about me and my reasons for being AF. (That's after almost a year AF and much soul searching/spirituality type books being read Grin)

Good luck. Flowers

vxa2 · 14/12/2016 20:26

Come on then give me some ideas !!! I have tried all kinds of tools to generate something punchy. I want it to say what it is so there is no question about what it's about. It's quite tricky. Help me ladies !!! X

User what a ridiculous post....you really don't like to help yourself sometimes!!

Vxa - I would ignore him! I think if you get the brand right you will get a whole host of people joining your meetings. There are loads of Facebook pages/websites/ blogs etc around the "coolness" of AF and it's becoming more and more appealing and more importantly not such a stigma.

I think you will do well if you pitch is to the right dynamic which I would have thought would be the majority of us ladies on this thread - a bit like soberistas??

Loubilou09 · 14/12/2016 20:33

Soberistas the website....it's not a suggestion for your group name Smile

LikeaHurricane · 14/12/2016 20:55

Something like "Goodbye wine o clock" ??

LikeaHurricane · 14/12/2016 20:56

That was my first try .... Grin

BGJ42 · 14/12/2016 21:16

No Way Nojito!

So Sober, So good....

Orange Juice is the New Black Out

OK, I'll stop now.....

LikeaHurricane · 14/12/2016 21:25

BGJ those are fab!
Everybody, please ignore mine (and forgive me) Grin

vxa2 · 14/12/2016 22:17

Some really helpful input there thank you. I think I need to keep it lighthearted but not too jokey iyswim. I also want to focus on women so the wine o clock reference is a good one. Perhaps sobriety is a better word than sober. I will get my thinking cap on. Smile

The Sobriety Society Grin

bingandflop · 14/12/2016 22:29

Lurker but long time admirer, 'Schloer O'Clock ' (copyright probs maybe) 'Sober Sisters'(done before I guess) 'Booze Free Babes' (cheesy). 'Soda O'Clock?' Will keep thinking.

bingandflop · 14/12/2016 22:31

Lime O'Clock (as rhymes with wine..?)

userformallyknownasuser1475360 · 14/12/2016 23:14

What about "The Womans Wine Down" (wind down)

Sink the drink.... wine Widows (nah)....
Babyshamless.....

Sorry about last post, I swear I'm not trying to be mean on here, what I'm saying (wait til I take my feet out of my mouth) is I know a lot of people have an issue attending AA or the like because of "shame" of having or being seen to have an issue with alcohol, but do agree with the branding might make people have a better attitude towards it.

vxa2 · 15/12/2016 07:08

Thank you everyone. !! Smile

Morning all!

To a happy and sober Thursday.

Loubilou09 · 15/12/2016 08:50

Some great suggestions!!

What about "Club Soda"?

I also like "women calling time on wine o'clock" but that's too long but something maybe you could use as an explanation to what the club/group is?

I am nearing the 100 days which is what my original challenge was so the WW is full of excited chatter that she can soon make an appearance...I need to slap her down quite considerably over the next 8 Days.....sigh.....

Loubilou09 · 15/12/2016 08:51

Morning Not how are you doing today?

NotTodayThanks2 · 15/12/2016 09:16

I am still all shiny and wonderful thanks Lou. I almost can't believe how well I've done. No booze, no cigarettes for so long, despite opportunities and being in 'high risk' situations. I feel solid. The gratitudes are a real source of support in my head and heart.

userformallyknownasuser1475360 · 15/12/2016 09:28

I started off with a pretty shitty day, work stuff, kid sick but you know the way each day you find one little thing to keep you going.

TODAY I AM SOBER 100 DAYS.

And yes I meant to shout that.
