DH has gone missing

Name changed for this as I don't want this attached to my usual name.

Long story short DH (and his friend) has gone missing and I have no idea what to do!

He went out to friends on Sunday evening around 6. He called at 9ish said he was staying out but would be home approx 10am Monday morning.
All fine as he didn't have work etc etc.
I had a message from his friend st around 2pm Monday saying that DHs phone has died and that DH is really sorry he is late but he'll be home by tea time.
Since then no one has seen or heard from DH or his friend.
I've checked the police custody suite, hospitals, as many friends that I can think of and been round to friends house but obviously no one was there.
I'm worried sick, I can't sleep, can't eat and my anxiety is only letting me think the worst has happened.

I know this is about ranty, sorry for that! I just needed to talk about how scared I am. Can anyone think of a logical explanation to where they could have got to? I need abit of hope that he's okay! Sad

How does that work thought? The phone is dead so it can't send back any data to identify its location. I know it can be done with a live phone but can't see how after the battery has died

purplefox · 16/06/2016 14:45

Tweet his photo to local newspapers and the like, they'd probably retweet.

dollylucy · 16/06/2016 14:46

They can trace it from the last signal received, last ping off a tower.

BeautyQueenFromMars · 16/06/2016 14:48

pearlylum It's only been a couple of hours since the OP filed a missing persons report, in all fairness you have no idea whether the police are escalating this or not.

OP, I really hope you hear something positive soon.

pearlylum · 16/06/2016 14:51

Why wait 4 days to report someone missing? I would be frantic much sooner.
I don't understand that.

Desmondo2016 · 16/06/2016 14:51

I am a Police Lost Person search manager and unfortunately the most they could get off the phone would be the last known location - and that may only narrow it down to an area of several square miles. I hate to say it, but even if this is truly out of character I can understand why it's not graded as high risk - statistically he has left of his own accord, in the company of someone else and failed to return with no evidence of foul play. I'm not suggesting this isn't massively frustrating and worrying for the OP just putting a (generic) police slant on it.

Desmondo2016 · 16/06/2016 14:51

I mean the last location when the phone was last on.

Queenbean · 16/06/2016 14:53

Hope he returns Op Flowers

MoonlightMedicine · 16/06/2016 14:53

I don't have anything useful to add but I have been following this from the start OP and I really hope he is ok. Another hand to hold. Flowers

Redglitter · 16/06/2016 14:54

You can't say the police aren't escalating it. You have no idea what's going on. The family of every single missing person isn't allocated a Family Liason Officer. The enquiry officers will be keeping in touch.

A request can be made to the phone service provider to find out which area the last phone last pinged off. It's a slow process and has to be authorised it's not done as a rule unless the persons High Risk.

The OP has reported it. She says the police are helping. Speculation as to what they are or aren't doing is pointless on here when we know very little of the full circumstances

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 16/06/2016 14:56

op hasn't been around for a while now. hoping he's turned up by now

MiracletoCome · 16/06/2016 14:58

An adult who is not a vulnerable person is perfectly able to go missing if they want. Also information like bank info will not be released if it breaks the data protection rules.

Hope he turns up op.

lifesalongsong · 16/06/2016 14:58

You say you haven't had much luck with social media, could you post on the MN facebook page and ask people to share.

You've already namechanged to won't be giving away your previous identity

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 16/06/2016 15:01

OP this must be insanely difficult for you. I hope he's home with his tail between his legs very soon.

PoisonWitch · 16/06/2016 15:06

Hope he turns up soon OP.

SimplyNigella · 16/06/2016 15:08

OP you must be out of your mind with worry, I've been thinking of you and checking back regularly for updates.

Is it an option for someone to look after your DC and for you to go to the friend's house yourself? From what you've posted the police didn't say that the friend wasn't there, just that your DH wasn't.

Have you checked your online banking (assuming you have a joint account or access to his?) to see whether any money has been transferred as h wouldn't need his cards to do that?

Do you have a joint mobile phone contract by any chance? If so, your mobile operator should be able to give you a latest statement that would show any calls he made before he ran out of battery, that could give you a clue.

RedCrimson · 16/06/2016 15:08

Agree with Lifesalongsong someone on MN must be close to wherever he is. If you could post his details maybe someone has seen him somewhere. I'd be worried sick OP. Try and keep positive (((HUGS))) Flowers

Buzzardbird · 16/06/2016 15:13

Hoping all will end well.

Out2pasture · 16/06/2016 15:25

My experience of reporting a missing person was very different than yours. I was given a long list of places to call; individual hospitals, jail cells, hotels and more. I was given a staff liaison, they called me at each shift change I was able to call them 24/7. It was a very very involving and tiresom event. The police divulged lots of confidential information and released private e-mails to me fairly rapidly. 2 countries involved. I was told that it's usually family that find the missing person.

HeadWrecked26 · 16/06/2016 15:36

Still no idea where he is.
I've been given a list of places to call also, it's mainly places I've already been calling already but I am still calling to see if he turns up. I've also had a lengthy statement taken and
I have a number I can call to ask for updates and I've had a couple of phone calls detailing what progress they have or haven't made.
I've also been given the speech about low risk adults being allowed to just disappear if they wish and that if they do find him and he doesn't want any contact they will have to respect that but will be able to tell me if he's safe and well.
I'm sorry I just haven't posted here word for word what's been said as I'd be here for days.
On a plus side I've been made aware of people who saw DH and friend yesterday so I'm feeling much more positive. I've passed this info on to the police and they have assured me they are following it up.
Fingers crossed they'll have an answer for me soon enough.

He was seen yesterday???? By a reliable source?

MajesticSeaFlapFlap · 16/06/2016 15:41

What a worrying time for you op Flowers

HeadWrecked26 · 16/06/2016 15:41

No idea if it's reliable information as I only know that the person is a friend of DHs friend.(that he's gone AWOL with).

Scarydinosaurs · 16/06/2016 15:43

Jesus how awful for you. Did the friends of friends say where they saw him?? What he was doing??
