The Rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize-they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Read Why Men Love Bitches (aka WMLB), and take from it what you will. 12. Don't serve up moose burgers on the first date (although this is still in debate right now) 13. Matthew Hussey also very useful. And very easy on the eye even if you don't find him any good. 14. IF THEY SAY THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP, THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP.

Hmmm that's odd tigsy, maybe it's someone else that you met before the last date?

NotTodayDear · 17/03/2016 14:11

Intriguing Tigsy!

Yay waving I'm so glad you aren't going to message soho MTG sounds great Smile

ocelot7 · 17/03/2016 16:10

Not going to message Soho like - ever?

Am wondering if I do contact M whether to say something like "slipping thru yr fingers" but maybe only works with someone you haven't met?

I've been feeling very universe-positive i cl about M today....maybe partly cos I really thought he was watching my fb last night as I made 2 posts say 25 mins apart & each time he posted something within a minute...I'm horrified at myself that I know this(!) but could it be a coincidence? There's probably a set probability!

Other good news is lovely friend in Pembrokeshire has now invited me for Easter so lots of fresh air horses & wine (& minimal pining!) :)
Quick turn round after a few days skiing with son in France (he's working there so not seen since Xmas)

I totally respect MH methods but I have this chink now where I feel they don't apply to mr canceller because he never initiates anything. And because he seems to doubt himself. I was thinking of sending him an email, along the lines of needing to be a bletchley park code cracker to figure out what apologising for a kiss means..?

but no no no no no. Right? It's only two says since I emailed him. If I haven't heard from him by Sunday I might send an email....... because by then it will be 9 days since date and you really can't leave it any longer than that or it's just weird. But maybe I won't even want to by then.

I haven't been exercising frequently enough. I need to get back to that. It helps me believe that I'm the prize (not because of ''slimness'', because of the dopamine and the energy)

BatshitCrazyWoman · 17/03/2016 16:34

I've remembered A Thing that my positive thinking meditation teacher was big on for the LoA - gratitude. If the Universe does something nice - finds you a parking space, delays your train by a minute so you don't miss it - then remember to say thank you! I know it sounds completely bonkers, but I find it makes such a difference to how I feel - I'm always muttering 'thank you, Universe' under my breath!

ocelot7 · 17/03/2016 16:38

314 even without the dopamine you are noticably chirpy today :)

I struggle with the "I'm the prize" thing - largely my low self-esteem I guess - just makes me think how men my age are Hopi g for you her prizes...while I don't wan't to go older - yuk!

Disappointednomore · 17/03/2016 16:38

So I have name changed so as to not affect the positivity of the thread but it accurately reflects where I am right now. (Thanks Waving) and Jolly that is a great tip re: the facts - steers away from the laborious into the interesting.
My MrTF blew me out last night - said he was ill and not going anywhere for a while. I knew it was coming (trusted my gut) so I waited 30 minutes, then texted, OK take care. I thought that was pretty unequivocal and this morning I've deleted all our texts and deleted his contact. I don't want to end up having wine and sending him texts. And the universe has delivered me another iron! Someone I favourited a while ago who has messaged me two days ago and I've only just seen it so I've inadvertently played it cool (not me at all)
Mag I know what you mean about the same faces. I'm going to put up some new pictures soon, see what that brings.

Mag314s · 17/03/2016 16:52

Thanks y'all.

Gratitude. Yes, I do have a lot to be grateful for and I need to get that powerful feeling back, the one that exercise was giving me. Right, tonight, put on the runners and the fluorescent nike sports bra etc and select my task master, Jillian I think, and then go, press play. Davina is too nicey nicey. I need Jillian. I will. I will. I will.

I won't list off the things I have to be grateful for but I'm going to channel H for a moment, because he meant it so sincerely, so, from my soul, I'm going to positively vibrate "I have it good!". bzzzzzzzzzzzz. Actually, when my photo was taken for my driving licence the other day, I did look like my hair had been electrocuted.

So what if ONE confused man hasn't replied to my email. The universe will deliver another iron and perhaps it won't be an OLD one. I'd prefer a real life one!

Mag314s · 17/03/2016 16:53

ps, i'm going to investigate two local gyms though. I'll add that to the list of real life tasks

Mag314s · 17/03/2016 16:55

waving the event you're going to tonight, a picture of that must go up on facebook!!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 17/03/2016 17:03

Roight, I am knocking the studying on the head for the day! And "roight" was a typo but I'm letting it stand as it sounds suitably Irish. Shamrock

314 yeah, leave it to Sunday and then email MrCanceller. What have you got to lose if he wasn't going to get in touch anyway? Enjoy Jillian. I am going to the gym for a fat burner class shortly. It'll probably kill me but after a day of sitting around, I need some of that dopamine! Grin

nomore Yay for new iron! See, one door closes and another one opens!

waving Things sound so good with MTG. I think you do have to go with the flow and not worry about the America/UK thing. It's still such early days and anything can happen. You'll work it out if it's meant to be but just enjoy this bit for now.

pumpkin Good luck on your date tonight! Watch some MH videos on first dates if you get a chance but in brief, the things I remembered were to touch early. So, give him a kiss on the cheek or hug when you meet, and try and get some arm touches etc in when you talk. Otherwise it can make any kisses at the end of the date awkward if you have never touched before. I think that playing pool sounds like a great date! MH would approve. He also said to sit side by side not across a table so if there are awkward moments, you are not staring into someone's face Keep your body language open, remember to smile and breathe!
Looking forward to the loo updates!

I've a new iron mr fuzz ,so from sleeping with and regretting it immediately with mr no name and thinking I'm having a break from men,mr fuzz has snuck in and got me at least liking him and agreeing to a date.

Disappointednomore · 17/03/2016 17:10

Hey Catty that's great!

HoppingForward · 17/03/2016 17:31

Hello again.

Would someone mind filling me in on the short abreviations please, like MH tactics etc.

And if you don't mind pointing me in the direction of some OLD sites to get me started that would be great.

I've been lurking and cheering you all on, it's a scary prospect on getting started after ending a 15yr marriage and all.

Hi Hopping - I've just come out of a 16 year marriage too, had a few dates - pleasant but nothing special, then a couple of brilliant dates with a guy who has just lit me up. He's off the scene already but I had my wicked way with him and feel brilliant! I've been on Match.com which is a bit sedate but fine for me to get started. I've just signed up to Plenty of Fish too and have had a fair bit of interest. I'm mid 40's .
Come on in - the water's lovely!

TigsytheTiger · 17/03/2016 17:41

Apparently I have had a date with mystery texter and the original text was intended for me, I still don't know his identity but I'm thinking its a guy I had a first date with about 3 weeks ago. We exchanged nice to have met you texts after and then nothing more on either side, to my relief.

He was quite confident and witty but text but shy and a bit camp in person - would a guy suddenly reappear 3.5 weeks later saying I'm ready for date 2 and 3?? I'm hoping against hope it isn't him and is in fact some Love God, I'd dated once and forgotten about, as if!!!

Just popping in. This thread moves so fast!! DrFoxtrot am totally in awe of your 'slip through your fingers' text. Utterly brilliant!!!

pumpkin good luck for tonight Smile

Been for therapy today. That woman is good. We talked about beginning-of-relationship insecurity. And how there's just no way of avoiding it.

And I felt today like yeah, I'm in a Very Good Place in terms of being ready for pastures new with friends, relationships etc... And that I've come a long way.

Then I went for a walk in the sun in my fave place then I text Twix and said this weekend he could bring his toothbrush as well as his wellies. It just seemed right. And he texted back something very nice in return indicating he'll be doing just that. Oh yey!!!

Now next stop on the insecurity train is to start a grown up convo about dtd and exclusivity, Maybe I'll do that on the walk. I need to do that. For me. Check it all out...

MyGastIsFlabbered · 17/03/2016 18:17

Hmmm MrHappn who suddenly ghosted me about a month ago has just sent me a message via OKCupid Confused
