Yes Mrs Roland don't stop posting. We all have different perspectives, so who cares.

I had my 1st OLD today and he was a nice guy, but... No spark for me. He paid for a carvery (£7.49) even though I offered, so his choice.

Have since been talking to a chap after only a few on-line messages by phone for nearly an hour.

I wouldn't normally give my number out so fast, but he seemed funny and it turns out we have an awful lot in common!

Only lives 1 mile away Shock

Handywoman · 06/12/2015 17:35

Lacoba sounds promising? You gonna meet up?

pompster · 06/12/2015 17:42

Hello all.
I broke up with my boyfriend of two years, 3 months ago. Have been on tinder since then but haven't had any luck. The ones I have been conversing with and going well have either stopped replying or unmatched me.
Thinking of giving pof a go? I don't know whether to wait for the new year.
Is match any better, seeing as you have to pay?

Lacoba66 · 06/12/2015 17:44

handy. I hope so, but even if he turns out to be just a mate, then that's okay- some of the things he said, suggest he is of the same ilk as myself (or I could be talking shite)

I will update Grin

Handywoman · 06/12/2015 17:47

pompster I found match very dull with barely anyone on it.

POF seems to have a bad rep but for sheer volume of blokes it works for me!

Lacoba66 · 06/12/2015 17:50

I do think it depends where you are. POF for me was a bit slow, I've recently been on Zoosk & it's been more active for me.

itsallpoop · 06/12/2015 19:11

POF has a huge number of men, I've been on for a month and am still getting 10/12 messages a day. Very few viable prospects, but lots of people say OLD is a numbers game, so surely a higher volume of traffic gives you the best odds.

Arranged date number two with Mr Fireman on Wednesday, just been asked for date number three tomorrow with Mr Short. Feel I want to DTD with Mr Short, rather than Mr Fireman, but Mr Fireman is a really nice guy, he seems - potentially - to be a better prospect.

I do struggle sometimes with multiple dates/chats, feels too close to what my ex put me through with numerous OW. Yet I realise everyone does it.

Any advice? x

Handywoman · 06/12/2015 19:45

Am not getting 10-12 messages a day more like 2 a week. But there are only so many men I can juggle so am doing ok on my meagre rations!

itsallpoop · 06/12/2015 20:07

Believe me, of all those messages only about one says more than 'hi sexy'.

I've got one guy - in his sixties, I'm in my forties - who sends me two words a day. I wish/I'm dreaming/want you .

Tempted to message back with two words of my own.....

Quantity does not mean quality, handy!

I find POF really busy, have had no luck with others, I think because I live in a rural area so not many men near by. I get a lot of ' hi sexy' on POF which I ignore. Tonight I am chatting to 2 men on POF ( both seem very nice ) and 2 on whatsapp who I have been chatting to for a while from POF. I'm finding it tricky to remember what I said to which one Grin.

itsallpoop · 06/12/2015 21:56

I have been known to copy and paste the same message once or twice!

Lacoba66 · 06/12/2015 23:42

Met my 1st OLD today. He was very chatty, compared to the online/ WhatsApp stuff... But not there for me.

Ended up having a hour long chat with a guy later on who was more on my wave length- we shall see... Funny world this is..

TooSassy · 07/12/2015 06:32

mrs roland don't go!!! No one meant anything. This thread is so supportive

fish am not there yet ( in terms of messaging) it sounds really bloody time consuming!

happy you HAVE to give more detail than that!!

pompster how was tinder? I think so many of these apps so depend on where you are

itsallpoop, my genuine advice is keep a diary. Summary of each date. What you wore/ spoke about. It's totally ok to be seeing multiple men for dates. No one nowadays does 'exclusive' until the chat has been had. Pre ExH was dating 4 men. Where you draw the line is your call (it's a personal thing) but once I DTD with one, I wouldn't do so with anyone else. Hope that helps?

handy don't compare. If I go onto an app I have a higher likelihood of getting messages. Based on my being in London. The quality of them however is likely to be questionable.

waving how was he different?
Afternoon dates are dangerous for me. The last one I had we hit it off and drank our way through the day!

Have a fab day everyone! Loving reading this thread and am so glad I joined.

By the way have just started reading the rules the updated version. And have why men like bitches waiting in the wings! Books like these make me laugh out loud (in a good way) Let me know if any of you want to know whether they are any good!

itsallpoop · 07/12/2015 07:21

Sassy thanks for the advice Chocolate. I'm thinking the same - for me, DTD takes things to a different level, though I appreciate that's not necessarily the same for men.

Would like to read something for a little insight, what makes those books good?

pompster · 07/12/2015 08:52

Tinder has been slow. I end up "clearing" all the men and it says no-one new around you Grin. I have to say I get put off by a lot of their pics if they include boys nights out, andytihng vulgar (which is a lot of them) or if they look like a player. I probably only swipe "like" on 1 in 10 men!

The one or two I've spoken to who actually seem half decent and ot pervy have stopped replying to me...

I downloaded Zoosk last night but you have to pay to read/reply to any messages and i'm not at the stage yet where I want to be paying for OLD.

I'm still tempted by POF....

pompster · 07/12/2015 08:56

*and anything

(Monday morning inability to type...)

Trills · 07/12/2015 09:16

Swiping like on 1 in 10 men is a pretty good ratio pompster !

I live in a densely populated area so I haven't ever run out of men but the proportion that look like I want to talk to them is definitely under 1 in 10.

MrsRolandRat · 07/12/2015 09:28

Pompster- I've always done ok on pof.

I did meet someone last year off there, he was a lovely guy and ticked every box but he wanted children and I don't want anymore. So it was kind of going nowhere. Give it a whirl.

Sassy I've read the old rules a friend owned it then got the new rules for online dating. I have to say some of it is really good, other parts are a bit cut throat. It says if a guy hasn't asked for your number or maybe it's asked you out after 4 emails then you simply go missing in cyber space, if he's keen enough then he will get the hint and ask for a date or your number and if he doesn't he simply wasn't that bothered in the first place.

I have to think 4 emails isn't quite enough, yes some men do ask for your number fairly early on in the email exchange however others do take longer.

I had a guy on tinder who lives 2 miles from me, good looking, seemed nice was quick to respond, gave compliments etc, but after about 12+ exchanged tinder messages still hasn't asked for my number I kind of didn't reply to his last message. Maybe I should have offered mine, but I'm a bit old fashioned and like the man to ask first.

The rules also suggests waiting 3 months I think (could be wrong here) before sleeping with someone, maybe I'm a bit easy but 3 months seems like a long time, I usually do 4-5 dates but I've also been known to sleep with someone on date 2/3 if it felt right Blush

Also read why men love bitches years ago, this is pretty good and I have to say it's the better out of the two books. Both good reads but I found why men love bitches to be the more realistic one.

Waving, I now drive on my first/second/third dates after I made a complete fool of myself years ago in my late 20's, 2nd date, I drank nearly a bottle of wine, threw up everywhere then slept with him, needless to say I never heard of him again Hmm

Although I'm much older and wiser now I made it a rule from then to try and drive wherever possible, unless of course I'm digging them and vice versa and I feel it's ok to drink.

Did you like the man from yesterday?

fishfingersinmysandwiches · 07/12/2015 12:41

Well young, hot guy has definitely gone AWOL on Gsm I think. He hasn't even logged in since Saturday. Too tempting to standing waving my virtual flag screaming, "Come back, come back - save me from all these OAP's claiming to be 45!" But I shan't.

I am chatting to a couple of others too - a theatre director (also younger than me) but he's one of those constant messagers which puts me off. I did hint a couple of times yesterday that it wasn't really my bag and he seems to have taken it on board a bit, which is good.

And another bloke who seems nice enough, but a bit lame. He sent a message saying, "Well when you're in this neck of the woods let me know, and maybe we can go out for a drink or something.." Not exactly bowling me over with his ardour there Grin

Hope everyone is having a good Monday. I really must try out this Tinder...

Finding it hard chatting to 3 at the same time. Just got messages from 2 of them asking if they could come over for coffee tonight, I wonder if I could invite them both over and then let them compete against each other for a date Hmm. I really can't be bothered to meet any of them, I actually hate going on dates, have been on so many Sad

So there's:
Mr Poo (not sure what else to call him, miss job related ), seems really nice, he is 10 years older than me but that doesn't bother me at all as I prefer older men, very good looking, amazing eyes and ok body. Works away a bit, has kids, lives close (ish) but far away enough for him not to stalk me. Only been chatting for a couple days and he is already being cheeky.

Mr Gas man, I think we have quite a lot in common but he is a bit full on, wants to come over my house to see me, he's only a couple years older than me and seems a bit childish at times.

Mr hippy, lovely man, we talk about lots of different things and he has never mentioned sex, he is 8 years older than me, seems really mature and grounded but he hasn't asked me out in a date Sad, I'm not sure if he just likes chatting or if he is building up to asking me out.
