I have a problem in that I feel I am pulling the weight of 2 people in my family. I have ds aged 3 and am pregnant. I work 3-4 days a week. Ds is in nursery or with dp when I work. However I also end up doing 95% of domestic stuff. Dp doesn't work having
recently taken voluntary redundancy and bought a yacht! He has way more leisure time than me and I am feeling incredibly resentful. Howdo I get him to change. I don't want to ltb Jesuits

Women clean more because they have periods Hmm

DH is in for even more of a shock when menopause hits!!

cadno · 05/06/2015 21:52

Typhoid is a Salmonella - just one with ambition

JohnFarleysRuskin · 05/06/2015 21:53

Josh, A large man with sweaty underboob, like um a woman with thrush, is er well into hygiene and therefore by this logic, really enjoys ironing (?)

Lweji · 05/06/2015 21:55

Cleaner homes yes. Because a woman's body needs more thought and attention in regards to hygiene than a man 's....

Shock

WTAF?

Twinklestein · 05/06/2015 21:55

Typhoid is a Salmonella

Indeed hence the /

JoshL · 05/06/2015 21:56

JohnFarleysRuskin

Goodness, this is more complicated than I thought.

cadno · 05/06/2015 21:57

Ha - the / !

MorrisZapp · 05/06/2015 22:00

Is that true? Typhoid and salmonella are the same?

I thought one was a kind of food poisoning and one was a highly contagious disease from the Victorian era.

cadno · 05/06/2015 22:02

And all the dirty house mice will get typimurium.....(spellings may differ i.e. too lazy to look it up)

Tequilashotfor1 · 05/06/2015 22:03

I thought one was a t-bag

cadno · 05/06/2015 22:05

Sorry Morriszapp - the organism that causes typhoid fever in humans is a member of the Salmonella genus. There are lots of different other species in the genus (at least in the british scheme) that cause food poisoning.

NotQuiteSoOnEdge · 05/06/2015 22:11

Cleaner homes yes. Because a woman's body needs more thought and attention in regards to hygiene than a man 's....

I really can't believe I just read that. How can that be typed in any kind of seriousness? I hate housework, have no interest in anything but the bare minimum necessary to keep my children safe and healthy. Housework is boring and shit and relentless and menial. It's only EVER lazy men who come out with crap like that, to justify their unjustifiable laziness.

Actually I thought DadDadDads first post was not bad advice, with the facts he had at the time. Men and women are different. Men do generally seem to want to fix things. Different people are motivated by different things - reward, praise etc.

Moving on... OP I wonder if your DP is as happy as he made out about being made redundant and the yacht etc is a way of saving face?

cailindana · 05/06/2015 22:28

The connection still isn't obvious to me voyage. Why would me changing sanitary towels make me want to clean up dust more? I honestly don't get it.

SleeplessButNotInSeattle · 05/06/2015 22:29

Not sure about the thrush argument but women sometimes 'nest' in late stages of pregnancy. That's a biological (or possibly evolutionary, who knows) predisposition towards cleanliness.

PeppermintPasty · 05/06/2015 22:31

Gosh, what an utter load of shit.

^^ that's me disagreeing.

DadDadDad · 05/06/2015 22:32

I'm really touched to see people supporting my very first post on this thread, but I fear it comes a little too late...

PeppermintPasty · 05/06/2015 22:32

(Not you, Sleepless Grin)

PeppermintPasty · 05/06/2015 22:34

Although....
....wait, what?

This thread is bizarre.

Twinklestein · 05/06/2015 22:38

Honestly Voyage I would quit while you're behind...

I assume you're aware that thrush can be triggered by soap, sex, low immune system... it's not caused by not washing...

Cystitis too can be triggered by irritants in soap, sex, stress, dehydration, low immune system...

If men don't clean their kitchen they could get salmonella, e coli etc... If they step on a dirty nail they could get tetanus etc...

I've heard nonsense from men on the net but this does deserve some special prize surely?

Lweji · 05/06/2015 22:38

Because, as unfair as you may see it, women , due to their biology, have to think about personal hygene more that men.... Yes ? No ? Disagree?

I'd say men have to think more about their personal hygiene.

Women stink much less.

JoshL · 05/06/2015 22:39

Peppermintpasty

Yeah, I've lost track of this - why do sweaty underboobs mean you get salmonella and/or a yacht?

AlternativeTentacles · 05/06/2015 22:45

Well ive met a lot more women whove had periods, thrush and cystitus than men

I've seen some bollocks spouted about how women are supposed to like tidy and men are supposed to like messy which is always a load of shite but this really is a fantastic explanation of why women are the best people to do housework. And by fantastic I mean deluded.

p.s...your logic is flawed. By saying you have met alot more women with periods, thrush and cystitis than men infers that you have met some [or more than one] man who has had periods, thrush and cystitis. Which of course is an impossibility.

RufusTheReindeer · 05/06/2015 22:53

Still don't get it

I have a shower, wash all over with soap, dry with a towel

DH has a shower, wash all over with soap, dry with a towel

I see crumbs on the kitchen worktop, wipe them off

DH sees crumbs on the kitchen worktop, wipe them off
