Hello, tis me, Mouse

Welcome to the Bus. It's a Bus full of drinkers, non-drinkers, occasional slurpers, sneaky sippers, we're all a very different bunch but we ALL have the same thing in common.

Alcohol.

We all have a story or two to tell, we have all been through some terrible times, some more than others and we all have our reasons for drinking or even not. Smile

The one true wonderful thing about this Bus is that we don't do judging!! We're all on a even playing field, no matter what has brought us to this thread.

So, if you'd like to talk, then talk. If you want to lurk and see how we work for a while, that's cool too :)

The Bus is never full, there's always is room for YOU.

And, if you'd like to see what started this off, amost good 5 years ago now, have a look at A TRULY AWESOME HEARTFELT THEAD HERE

And our last thread is just here too for those who would like some more history THIS IS WHERE WE'VE JUST BEEN

Hope to see you soon :) xxx

Fevvers, I'll let you do the 'reveal' if they haven't guessed by your bedtime!

It really isn't that exciting though!

beachestoexplore · 21/04/2015 11:59

Windy Miller? Can just imagine you calling that in the park Grin

Great posts today, i love reading and being part of the bus. Have a good day all xxxxxx

SweetLathyrus · 21/04/2015 12:07

Beaches, he was a little windy to begin with, but now we've found a food that suits him!

My mum had a friend who claimed to have called her cat 'pervert' just so she could stand in the garden and shout 'come out of the bushes pervert'!

SweetLathyrus · 21/04/2015 12:30

Blue skies and cherry blossom.

OMG, you guys have me in stitches!!

Sweet LOVE pervert!
Would not work here, sadly!

fevvers yes, that's it! me being me I re-read that, standing up and push tummy forward and backwards, singing in/out; tummy in; in/out tummy out (and just cause I can shook dem ol' udders about!) Grin

Oh, Hands, I wanted to have said about the sugar before. It didn't last long but what I try to have in the house/office is lots of fresh fruit and a fitness bar, covered in chocolate. They're low-cal, and after some fruit totally take care of the craving!

fevversbetterout · 21/04/2015 13:14

Khalisi, perhaps the 'mummy tummy in out' should be a secret babes greeting, like the masonic handshake....

dementedma · 21/04/2015 13:58

lots of chaps - medals, uniforms, SPURS!! swords, lots of shouting and saluting. Luvverly.....

SweetLathyrus · 21/04/2015 14:43

Ooooooooh, Ma Grin

fevversbetterout · 21/04/2015 14:45

Ma, was it Embro castle? Did you get to straddle Mons Meg? According to wikipedia, she's a medieval bombard. (Much like myself)

fevversbetterout · 21/04/2015 15:00

Is that you Ma?

Buggering arseing bollocks. I typed a long post and lost it. Now hiding in the toilets at work with my phone trying to remember what I said.

sweet, thanks for trying to talk some sense into me on Sunday. I'm afraid I read it and ignored. I was in full on self destruct mode. At least I've proved to myself that I can't do moderation, so it'll have to be abstinence.

ma, I'm all of a fluster. Is soldier ogling something you do for a living? Any vacancies? Wink

khalisi, any more bother from creepy builder?

alias, one of my colleagues is a nutritional therapist - she reckons almost all of us in the uk are Vit D deficient.

hope, I hope work isn't too grim.

needs, day 6, go you! And beaches, well done on day 3.

hands, welcome. I'd echo the previous advice about not avoiding chocolate. I'd go further. Treat yourself to your favourite kind. It's really important to start treating yourself well, you're worth it.

Day 2 for me. Feeling better than I was yesterday, but exhausted. I'll need to find some energy from somewhere though, going to see Oklahoma with a friend. I'm considering opening up to her about my alcohol issues. Maybe!

Hugs to all you lovely babes

Hi ladies. Picked a bad week to go AF. Oldest son rang this afternoon from uni to say his girlfriend is pregnant and as she has a coil, the doctor thinks it's probably an ectopic pregnancy. Son is very upset. Aren't university days supposed to be carefree? Feel totally stressed out and really want a drink Sad xx

SweetLathyrus · 21/04/2015 18:03

April you will find reserves of energy you didn't know you had, I promise.

Hands I can tell you that university is just as stressful as every other phase of life. I'm a lecturer, and one with a reputation for helping out students in distress (female in a mostly male department, and a big box of tissues on my desk). You should feel very proud as a mother that he has confided in you, that's a real badge of honour. You are looking for an anaesthetic right now, but all it will probably do is make you feel weepy. Trust your DS and his girlfriend, and be there if they need you x.

Buffalostance · 21/04/2015 18:11

Hello to all the babes. Please may I join you on the bus? I've lurked on here for a long, long time and wanted to join you but never had the courage to barge in and admit that I really need help.

I had been AF for almost 3 weeks (had 2 sips - didn't do anything for me - Sat night then left the rest of the glass) until today. There was a bit of a celebration at work and despite me telling my colleagues that I was trying to give up I stupidly gave in and had a small glass of wine. After a few swigs I knew with a horrible clarity and total certainty that I could happily drink the whole bottle.

I'm now sitting at the kitchen table getting through a large glass of red. I absolutely loathe myself. I can't moderate. I know this.

I am in awe of the strength of you brilliant babes and am very sorry for being so self-pitying. Its a long and ugly story and i promise you I really am a decent person, but I'm struggling and hope you have a seat on this wonderful bus for me too please?

SweetLathyrus · 21/04/2015 18:15

Buff there's always room aboard Gerald. Don't beat yourself up, we've all done it, and worse. Can you put the kettle on and pour away the rest of the bottle?

Buffalostance · 21/04/2015 18:22

Thank you Sweet. Just having someone to talk to has made me cry. I'm sorry. I'm pathetic and rubbish. It's a box of wine! My DH bought it.

I've just topped up my glass and will finish it and start again tomorrow. I thought I was doing OK, but I've ballsed it all up today. I just want to be free of it. Thank you so much

fevversbetterout · 21/04/2015 18:26

Welcome, Buff. Hands, ooh, I think Sweet is right. You must be a great mum for him to confide in you, but that shouldn't derail your own plans. x

fevversbetterout · 21/04/2015 18:36

Hey Buff, I'm day one again tomorrow. Will you join me in drinking stuff that isn't alcoholic?

SweetLathyrus · 21/04/2015 18:43

Buff, sweetheart, it's ok not to finish the glass. Put the box where you can't see it. I've done it, drinking to fill my boots because I'm going to start tomorrow. But I promise you, stop now, and you will feel better sooner. You're not pathetic. You're not rubbish. You're just like the rest of us, you need help and support sometimes because you spend most of your life helping and supporting others.

Go on, join Fevvers, she's a few hours ahead of us, and a bit bonkers, but bloody lovely with it.

SweetLathyrus · 21/04/2015 18:51

I've just brewed a mint tea; anyone else want one?

Buffalostance · 21/04/2015 18:52

Hi fevvers, nice to meet you! Have taken Sweet's advice, poured away the rest of the glass and the kettle is on. Feeling fairly pissed. But nearly finished cooking dinner (without burning the house down).

Sorry to sound like such a loser. Forgotten what a downer alcohol gives me. I've been reading and lurking for such a long time and always feel incredibly moved by all of you.

Cheers, Fevvers, can i count on you for a reference? Buff, i actually live next door to some buffalo. I could dangle over the wall to get you pics. They are fairly odourous. Buff curd really sorts out my IBS, so I loves the stinky beasts. They are gobsmackingly beautiful when they are swimming with their big bony heads lurching forwards.
