I know it is a big no no, but I did.
Found a text from his male work mate saying "did you get a touch then"
reply "no family life gets in the way" a few other lines I cannot remember then "it will be mine, all mine!"
I have not said anything as I am in the wrong for looking at the messages, but feel rather sick...

If I saw that on dh's phone I would think an app of some sort or maybe something to do with gambling?

CogitoErgoSometimes · 07/07/2014 22:08

Doesn't 'getting a touch' have something to do with money? Is he trying to borrow money to buy something?

nofarmhere · 07/07/2014 22:08

Thanks for your fast replies. I have taken a step back and calmed down abit more.
We have a rubbish sleeping baby, older ds and no other help at all. I am over tired and generally feel run down. No other reason for checking phone.
No excuse I know.

Yep. Definitely sounds like a snazzy boy toy. Grin

Sounds like something I'd say Blush

cozietoesie · 07/07/2014 22:11

When did you last sit down and have a real conversation with him?

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 07/07/2014 22:11

Unless you have any other reason to feel worried, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong here.
Are you sure there wasn't any reason you looked? It wouldn't even occur to me to look at dh's phone.

Well I'm normally the first to shout "sounds like an OW" and this doesn't sound remotely suspicious to me. Sounds like boy talk.

Pasithea · 07/07/2014 22:13

Ah shit wrong post how do I remove it . I'm sooooo sorry.

MadeMan · 07/07/2014 22:16

I have never heard any men I work with, or that I know use the term 'get a touch' to mean anything to do with sex/women.

Most men I know would just be blunt and direct as in, "did you get a bunk up then?/did you score?"

Sallystyle · 07/07/2014 22:17

iPod touch was my first guess too.

Chesntoots · 07/07/2014 22:17

If one of my friends refers to "getting a touch" they mean something like being able to get out of work early or a good deal.

ie "How was your day?" "Had a touch - managed to be gone at four"

I wouldn't think it meant another person.

MaryWestmacott · 07/07/2014 22:20

to DH "a touch" would mean "a touch of good luck" so like above, getting a good deal, getting out of work early, getting something better than they had expected, but not a woman.

It sounds like a boytoy. Can you afford him to spend a few quid on a boytoy? If not, ask about it...

TheSpottedZebra · 07/07/2014 22:21

Game of football? Wanted to play, couldn't?

MajesticWhine · 07/07/2014 22:21

I think it's a car or maybe a gadget.

VeryStressedMum · 07/07/2014 22:24

I also think a touch is something good happened, it's a long time since I heard it so can't remember exactly but it wasn't used as something sexual I'm sure.

Pancakeflipper · 07/07/2014 22:24

Could have intended it to say "did you get in touch..." and had a slip on the old text buttons. And I'd be thinking it means car/bike/gadget etc.

Hope you get some sleep soon.

Guiltypleasures001 · 07/07/2014 22:25

Getting a touch is east end or Essex, my thoughts are it means a bet or some kind of deal. Does he gamble op maybe on the tennis or footie?

mercifulgibbon · 07/07/2014 22:47

I thought drugs when I read it.

getthefeckouttahere · 09/07/2014 13:51

Worked in pretty 'laddish' environments all my life, never heard that phrase applied to any sort of shenanigans.

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 09/07/2014 13:53

I'm also thinking it meant to say 'Did you get in touch then'. Makes more sense with the reply.

And that could be referring to the bike shop, car dealership, anything that would stock something that he wants to be 'mine all mine!'

OW is very unlikely to be referred to as an 'it'.

hamptoncourt · 09/07/2014 16:11

In my area (home counties) it would refer to gambling.

Chattymummyhere · 09/07/2014 16:51

From the people I know it would be;

Drugs
Money
Football
Boy toy

And only the really skanky ones would it mean a women.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 09/07/2014 17:03

I thought 'a touch' was money, a lot of it? I'm using an Agatha Christie dramatization as my frame of reference though.

Jamie1981 · 09/07/2014 17:05

The most obvious explanation: its an iPod touch.
