I know it is a big no no, but I did.
Found a text from his male work mate saying "did you get a touch then"
reply "no family life gets in the way" a few other lines I cannot remember then "it will be mine, all mine!"
I have not said anything as I am in the wrong for looking at the messages, but feel rather sick...

Nothing of that coversation that you have put up strikes me as odd in any way whatsoever. You are looking for something that isnt there imo.

PancakesAndMapleSyrup · 09/07/2014 17:09

A touch can also not be referring to an object but getting a good price on something.

Trapper · 09/07/2014 17:12

Typo for 'Get in Touch' I reckon. Leave his phone alone.

Jamie1981 · 09/07/2014 17:12

I asked my husband. He pointed out the obvious - "it will be mine", not "she will be mine".
Don't think you have anything to worry about.

pilates · 09/07/2014 17:19

What is your husband's profession?

Could it be something to do with work, a contract may be?

SteeleyeSpanx · 09/07/2014 19:37

'a touch' means a loan of money...

"I'll touch him" (I'll ask him for a loan)

"did he touch you?" (did he ask you for a loan)

"he's a soft touch" (if you ask him for a loan, he is likely to give it to you)

...am I the only one who has heard it used in this context?

TigsytheTiger · 09/07/2014 19:45

A touch to me in South London speak, means a result or a good deal - as in - I had a right touch! If I saw that, I would wonder what it was about but wouldn't necessarily think it sinister.

Chocaholicmonster · 09/07/2014 20:22

All this could of been avoided if you hadn't felt the need to look at his phone - I don't understand, if you feel there's no issues, the reasons for checking his phone in the first place.

His messages sound innocent to me - not referring to another person.

Maybe this is a lesson learnt not to snoop.

kaykayblue · 09/07/2014 20:35

I agree with Tigsy the tiger.

Either that or it's a typo. If I saw this on my partner's phone I would assume he was talking about a motorbike.

SnotandBothered · 09/07/2014 23:15

Typo for 'in touch'.

Note the use of the word 'it'. 'It will be mine, all mine'. An object not a person.

I can be Mrs Suspicious of St Suspiciousville at times and my radar is silent and not twitching at all.

GenuinelyMaryMacguire · 10/07/2014 06:33

Well, I'd be suspicious. Men often refer to women/women's bits/sex as 'it'. 'Family life gets in the way' is the most damning.

lougle · 10/07/2014 07:08

Not suspicious in the slightest.

spence82 · 10/07/2014 08:14

I've never heard a man refer to women's bits as it before

mammadiggingdeep · 10/07/2014 08:25

Of you're in London a 'touch' means a bit if luck, a result.

I don't think it sounds like he's discussing a woman?!

sydlexic · 10/07/2014 08:35

A touch, here in Essex, refers to buying something at a very good price.

SinglePringle · 10/07/2014 08:38

Agree that 'to get a touch' is to get a result / a touch of good luck.

'I got it for a bargain £20. A right touch!'

That's the London definition / use of slang.

FFSFFS · 10/07/2014 08:40

It sound like he wants to buy something. It makes sense if it's car or a bike or whatever.

gingercat2 · 10/07/2014 08:58

'Touch' comes up as an alternative for 'rich' on my phone's keypad.

gingercat2 · 10/07/2014 08:59

As in 'did you get rich then?'.....

SocialMediaAddict · 10/07/2014 08:59

North London - a touch means good luck or a good price.

Is he bidding on something on eBay? My DH just won some brakes and said he had a touch as they are a bargain.

Crinkle77 · 10/07/2014 15:52

My boyfriend uses that phrase when he is going to give one his mates a hand with something (I know that sounds dodgy). For example one of his mates buys second hand cars and my fella will go round and help him and he says 'I am going to give him a touch with this car'.

Crinkle77 · 10/07/2014 15:53

Sorry meant to say buys second hand cars and does them up to sell on.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 10/07/2014 18:50

I mentioned this to DH he said, "That's from "Wayne's World", he's on about a guitar", (we're old), HTH.

SnookyPooky · 10/07/2014 20:13

I have seen 'touch' in Martina Cole books. In the context of a good deal or a bit of luck.

Eekaman · 11/07/2014 22:01

An iPod Touch?

What?? Thats sooooo 2008, catch up dahlings, we've moved on :)

PS; I'd see 'getting a touch' as a stroke of good fortune / luck / a win.
