Straw poll.... 'I've not been happy for some time' = OW/OM

Indulge me MN-ers. I personally got the 'I've not been happy for some time' line and it turned out to mean 'I've met someone else'. Mealy-mouthed variations would be 'I don't know what I want any more', 'I've never really loved you', 'I'm not sure if I still love you'.

So have you had one of these lines and did it eventually turn out to be an OW/OM?

Yes. A lot of these men are like monkeys. They only let go of the last branch when they've got a firm grip on the new branch.

It's peculiar, isn't it, that popular wisdom says women are the ones desperate to be in a relationship, yet it's more often men who line up a replacement before ditching the incumbent? This is a statistical fact, btw, I'm just too lazy to find it now.

Garlic That one has always struck me as odd.

I can remember I first developed very strong feminist leanings as a young child listening to standup comedians of the late 1970s on TV. They all spoke so disparagingly about their wives and mothers in law, yet, presumably at the time it was they doing the proposing...
