Sex toys to spice things up?

I have 2 young children so its hard to find some alone time with my partner. I want things to be spiced up a bit in the bedroom so was thinking sex toys. Possible TMI a range of toys are underpowered.
From recommendation by DW she liked Magic Wand and Eroscillator (both of which work very well on both partners, whatever sex they are)

From my perspective we got a "realistic" vibrator which was somewhat intimidating for me, and not very effective for her. That's relegated to the dusty box...

I agree with onemorechap lots of cheap ones are crap. Spend your budget on quality as opposed to quantity. I like to give www.lovehoney.co.uk a browse, cheaper and a broader range than Ann Summers.

Make sure this is something you both want, I've heard of many guys who find themselves intimidated and put off by them.

Not really - just gives things another dimension . You don't have to use them all the time . Sometimes it's just the bit if fun, diversity you need to get talking/ laughing and change of scenery . Just looking at 'Lovehoney' and reading the reviews is fun

My sex life is fantastic thank you very much enhanced by some adventurous fun.
Some people are not as adventurous as others.

I love the variety in our sex life. It's so common for people to say that there is a honeymoon period for sex lives and relationships seeing this as normal and so things settle into regular familiarity, and less frequent sex. After 19 years and still wanting to be together every night possible, we certainly aren't bored and can't wait until our daughter has gone to bed! As a lot of other people have already said a huge amount depends on the couple and what works for them.

If possible shop for them together as Namechange98 suggests. Me and my fiancée tended to find that part the most erotic and once we got to the bedroom the toys just got in the way a bit*. That didn't stop the sex being great - just that for us the afternoon of shopping and discussing possibilities turned out to be our toy (if that makes sense) and made the toys a bit redundant.

I'd really recommend having a read of Dan Savage's advice column (partially because I think everyone should anyway). He has a great response to a correspondent who had a similar question to yourself, hopefully some of it may be of some use.

Back to sex toys - my exp bought a toy from love honey - birthday present - but I wasn't so keen, it was something he preferred me to use on him. All fine. Then he bought another slightly different shaped one you that both of used. My lasting memory of using it is my birthday in a fancy hotel. It got cast aside in the heat of passion, next morning left the room in a tip and went out for the day. Came back to find the room tidied and 'toy' on the bedside table.
