Number of partners

fl85 · 14/08/2013 21:22

I put a question up on one of the other forums and one of the things that struck me was the range of numbers people said they had previously been with. This isnt meant to be a thread for judgements or arguments, but I was wondering what people's number of sexual partners is. And whether your OH knows this. If you read my other thread you will know why I am asking.

  1. He would probably be able to name them all Blush I don't know his exact number but he's about the same as me.

I always feel really underexperienced when I come on these threads Confused Makes me wonder what I missed out on!

YoniBottsBumgina · 15/08/2013 16:16

I do wonder, you know? But I was a late starter - 18 - and then was in a serious relationship from 18-21 and then I had DS so couldn't really "get out there"

Am vvv happy with DP sexually so I'm sure I haven't missed out really. The only thing that makes me curious every once in a while is that I know I am bi but have never slept with a woman. But then I swing between thinking it would be interesting and different to thinking I'd be terrible at it anyway so probably for the best!

minkembernard · 15/08/2013 16:19

I lost count and when i have been asked people think i am lying because it is loads Blush if is less than thirty...i think.

My rs partners had slept with more partners than me though.

minkembernard · 15/08/2013 16:20

I mean they think i am lying about not knowing...Grin

Flossiechops · 15/08/2013 16:25

Up in the teens and no dh and I have never had this discussion. What would either of us gain from knowing? The past is the past!

Katnisscupcake · 15/08/2013 16:31

More than 20 but less than 30. Until now I've always said that I don't regret it at all because I had a lot of fun... However it's come back to bite me in the ass, I've just tested positive for Chlamydia Antibodies and never even knew I'd had the infection... They need to arrange a Laparoscopy now and survey the damage...

Luckily have one DD with DH and he is clear so it was a long time ago before him and we're hoping that because of my successful TTC with DD, that it's just one tube that might be effected...

Doesn't all seem so much fun now...

Kayshields · 15/08/2013 17:23

18 for me, and im now back with number 15 :) I thought mine was alot lol I do regret its that many :/

ems1910 · 15/08/2013 17:52
  1. About the same for OH
Frettchen · 15/08/2013 18:15
Lost my virginity at 25 - we were together for about 6 months. No-one since; not because I'm all heartbroken or anything, but it just hasn't been near the top of my priorities to meet anyone.
fl85 · 16/08/2013 09:44

Great replies. Again it shows ehat a range there is.

I'm no maths wizz but based on people who put numbers I think I have worked out from 25 posters the average is just over 20 (that includes my number which I was too nervous to post before but realise now it is not all that bad).

My experience of mumsnet posters is they are a good mix of different people but my question is if the average is near 20 why do all surveys always say its more like 4 or 6? No wonder those of us with higher numbers get a complex about it.

AKissIsNotAContract · 16/08/2013 10:24

I think people here are more likely to be honest than on those surveys where it comes out at 4 or 6. Either that or they are carrying out their surveys in churches.

fifi669 · 16/08/2013 10:26

Maybe it's the people that come and ask you questions in the street kind of survey.... In front of your mum

tb · 16/08/2013 15:57

2

motherinferior · 16/08/2013 16:02

Around 25. Don't know about DP but his is a lot lessGrin

Weegiemum · 16/08/2013 16:04

One - dh who I've been together with since I was 19 and married to since I was 24. I'm also his only partner.

Like it that way.

noddyholder · 16/08/2013 16:05

several ahem......

StupidMistakes · 16/08/2013 19:31

1 til I left my husband. Since a few more. But only one has got my heart.

AhCmonSeriouslyNow · 16/08/2013 19:34

3 for me including DH

I was his first.

internationallove985 · 16/08/2013 20:09

Not too sure but certainly more than 100. I can't even remember all the names. xx

Bulletproofmum · 16/08/2013 21:02

About 25. But only two in the last 15 years

Lweji · 16/08/2013 21:17

I was his first.

And only, presumably? Wink

Lweji · 16/08/2013 21:21

2, BTW.

ExH and I were supposedly each other's firsts.

Jengnr · 16/08/2013 21:45

Loads. Husband very few.

No idea of exact numbers because I don't know mine and don't care about his. He doesn't care about mine either and if he did he'd be told to fuck off. My sex life became his business the day we got together and is now our sex life.

blueshoes · 16/08/2013 22:29

How do you get to 3 figures? Would they mostly be one night stands?

SolidGoldBrass · 16/08/2013 22:49

Over 100 incuding group sessions. Mind you, that's spread over about 25 years. I am single, and have told some sexual partners 'how many'; no one ever reacted badly but then I have generally been quite upfront about being an Ethical Slut so able to see off any idiots who have unpleasant, negative ideas about other people's sex lives before they got anywhere near my knickers.
