I am fed up with the cold weather and feel it more than my DH seems to. He is lovely, but does have a thing about me being always naked in bed. We have an electric blanket on my side which has to be turned off when you get in and does not last long. Plus a good duvet. But I am still always cold for a bit and he does not like me wearing pyjamas or a nightie, or even a vest top. Sulks and thinks what we have plus his hot body should be enough for me.
AIBU ?

It's hard for me to believe now but I was virtually in the same situation as the OP for many years.

The whining and complaining if ever I wore anything to bed.

'but it restricts my access' the exes would whine among other 'reasons' and I went along with it because I felt mean and unreasonable and that I didn't love them enough to deny such a simple 'pleasure'

I had virtually no idea that my body is exactly that - mine to do with and clothe as I see fit.

Can only explain it as having been subjected to what amounts to brainwashing throughout my formative and adult years that to please myself and not go with what the man in the relationship wanted was 'selfish'

Stick around please OP, MN is the only site I've come across that will honestly and plainky tell you it's ok to be yourself and to please yourself and most importantly feel comfortable in dictating what happens to your body.

HotCrossPun · 26/03/2013 19:35

Flowerflo - We obviously have the same impeccable taste in nightwear Grin

Nanny0gg · 26/03/2013 19:36

Please tell me this is a wind-up? Or have we gone back to the 1950s?

He sulks? Honeymoon period?

I suggest that the two of you act your age and you wear what the hell you want.
If you are cold and uncomfortable wear PJs. And if he doesn't like the 'feel' of it, point him in the direction of the spare room.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 26/03/2013 19:40

Wtf??

If you want to wear pyjamas then wear them! He sulks? I've never heard anything so ridiculous!

Tell him you're cold and to stop being a fucking child. It's your body, you wear what you like.

I wear fleecy pyjamas, they look ridiculous and I couldn't care less as long as I'm warm.

Coffee1Sugar · 26/03/2013 19:42

I'm currently sporting checked pj bottoms, uggs, a hoody and mismatched underwear. Shexy! Grin

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 26/03/2013 19:42

Tell him to fuck off and go and buy yourself some snuggly flannelette jimmies!

Honestly I would be outraged if DH pressured me to dress a certain way.....in bed or out!

I wear thermal socks most of the year, thermal top and bottoms. I hate being cold.

Iseeall · 26/03/2013 19:43

What do you do when you are on your period. Do you just clamp a st between your thighs?
Put some pjs on fgs

TheOrchardKeeper · 26/03/2013 19:44

no woman is sexually available all the time...Why does he need to be ablt to sexually objectify you when you're asleep anyway?

His attitude stinks Hmm

TheOrchardKeeper · 26/03/2013 19:44

*able

TheOrchardKeeper · 26/03/2013 19:45

P.S there are times in relationships where compromise is needed

This is NOT one of those times

MrsHoarder · 26/03/2013 19:46

Put some pijammas on. If he objects then point out that a sulking man isn't exactly inspiring you to get naked.

HtheO does he wear that velour jumper only when in bed? and what colour is it ? Grin

Fairylea · 26/03/2013 19:57

Madness.

My dh prefers me naked in bed. I can't sleep naked. I wear horrible fleecy pjs too sizes too big for me. Do I care? No.

I'm naked when we have sex. The rest of the time he has to live with me in my fleece pjs.. or clothes during the day!

Branleuse · 26/03/2013 20:01

mine prefers me naked in bed. He can have that in the summer.

knitknack · 26/03/2013 20:02

Bloody hell. Married three years, together four and currently wearing thermal top, cashmere jumper, yoga pants socks and scarf! AND I've got a blanket you can leave on - AND dh isn't allowed to 'waft' the duvet!!! I have serious cold issues :)

I can't imagine sleeping naked in this weather - I'd be crying every night!

IslaValargeone · 26/03/2013 20:05

Christ, I probably wear more in bed than out of it!
I'm active during the day, but freezing at night. Jammies, socks, snood. You name it, I'm wearing it.

FannyFifer · 26/03/2013 20:06

I don't even take my jammies off to have sex, it's feckin baltic!

Who gives a shit if he sulks, this is surely not for real?!

pumpkinsweetie · 26/03/2013 20:07

Wear what you want, he is showing controlling behaviour!
For most normal men, what their wife wears in bed isn't an issue as clothes can be taken off in the heat of passion. Full on pjs every night i could see his point somewhat, but you aren't even allowed to wear a nightie, or vest& knickers Shock!!!

Wear what you want, its not up to him fgs.

rhondajean · 26/03/2013 20:08

I never wear anything in bed - when it's cold DH moans about it because I curl into him with cold feet and bum!

He would probably be quite happy if I slept in flannelette pjs as long as I didn't have them on all the time

tak1ngchances · 26/03/2013 20:08

Ha ha haaaaaaaa tonight I will be wearing fleecy PJ bottoms, a thermal vest and bed socks. And DH will be wearing the same. We will snuggle together in our cheap fleecy nightwear and create static from the synthetic-ness of it all. But you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way and I fancy him rotten, static-y cheap fleecy PJ's and all.

Bunbaker · 26/03/2013 20:11

You are not being unreasonable, your husband is being unreasonable. OH fancies me even when my hair needs washing and I haven't shaved my legs. A bit of material between us doesn't put him off.

BetsyVanBell · 26/03/2013 20:15

Bloody hell love, I've been wearing a fleecy hat most nights this winter! (Y'know, along with jammies & thick socks of course Grin)

BibiBlocksberg · 26/03/2013 20:17

Love my pyjamas - even if I holidayed in the tropics I'd still wear them.

Not fleece of course but nevertheless not naked Grin

Startail · 26/03/2013 20:17

DH isn't mad on me in PJs, but he is very good at warming my side of the bed by climbing in before me.

He accepts that if it's very cold I do wear them although they don't necessarily stay on all night.
