questions - I agree you don't want to be with someone fickle, but it's human nature. Having so much choice there in front of you - the winks, the messages etc - makes someone fickle. Men more than women, very probably.

And sure you can pop next door to get some banana bread if you really want it, and nothing else will do. But there will be so many other things in that cafe's display case that you might get there and start umming and aahing. Actually the banana bread looks quite nice but oh I haven't had a scone in ages. Or a sausage roll.

Easiest thing to do is stay home and call out for pizza.

questions2008 · 22/11/2012 15:33

Haha, well I'd go for an indian if I'm ordering in Wink

questions2008 · 22/11/2012 15:35

Can we please start using healthy options in analogies, so that I eat apples or carrots instead of chocolate??

KirstyWirsty · 22/11/2012 15:38

I am guilty of exactly what you are talking about .. TheAuditor is perfectly lovely and yet I am holding out t next week to see what TheSubmariner is like .. I have hidden my profile though and have not logged on

bantamrooster · 22/11/2012 15:44

Kirsty I think maintaining a certain level of choice is fine, you're already talking to both of them, the Submariner might be amazing and blow your socks off.

But not logging in again and seeing that gorgeous Clooney/Depp/Pitt lookalike who's sent you a really witty and charming message until you've decided neither Auditor nor Submariner is going to work out - that's the difficult thing.

If everyone had your strength of will, I think OD would be better for it.

questions2008 · 22/11/2012 15:45

kirsty If two come along at the same time you do have to follow them both up - consider it a mistake on the waiter's part and he brought you fruit salad as well as low-fat sorbet and said you can try them both! Grin

KirstyWirsty · 22/11/2012 15:48

Well the thing is they are both fit and witty and eloquent so I am spoiled for choice .. Can't I just keep both of them??? Wink

Lovingfreedom · 22/11/2012 15:48

I hate banana bread and I'm not keen on sausage rolls. Scones, I can take or leave but I find that the fellas like them especially if they are home-made. Battenburg, apple pie, brownies, crispy cakes, yes; carrot cake, sometimes; doughnuts, never....and before you wonder what I'm doing on here KW...I'm not back on the OD yet...just avoiding work and btw...I think you should give us all a twirl.

KirstyWirsty · 22/11/2012 15:51

Haha lovingfreedom glad to hear it and nice to see you on here!! X

Lovingfreedom · 22/11/2012 15:51

And I heard that you can keep them both these days...isn't that the beauty of 'dating' rather than 'going steady'...I'm not American...but I do appreciate some of their customs.

KirstyWirsty · 22/11/2012 15:51

lovingfreedom has seen pics of both of them so she appreciates my dilemma :)

Lovingfreedom · 22/11/2012 15:53

Well you don't have to be so bloody selfish about it though KW...sending me pics without phone numbers! Envy

48howdidthathappen · 22/11/2012 16:16

I turned off the notifications through my email. Honestly don't want to know if yet another lovely man potato has added me to his wish list.

I would say my RL chap looks like banana cake but the proof of the pudding is in the eating Wink

JulietteMontague · 22/11/2012 16:31

just logging in to say I'm just off to have coffee with the full of himself older doctor. I sent the text as suggested by Bantam this morning, to let him know I only had an hour or so and his response was to suggest we meet earlier for our 'date' Hmm. Anyway, feel much better about it as I'm now meeting him at 5.30 which somehow is 'late afternoon' and I will still be keeping it short regardless.

questions2008 · 22/11/2012 16:44

Have fun juliette, don't forget to pop to the loo! Wink

48howdidthathappen · 22/11/2012 16:51

Hope your date goes well juliette

Lovingfreedom · 22/11/2012 17:04

They should do it more like TripAdvisor so you can rate, leave a review and put up honest photos of anyone you've tried out.

questions2008 · 22/11/2012 17:12

That sounds interesting MsC although I've never had a problem with ppl not being who they say they are in terms of looking like their pics etc. Plus the website I use has a verify yourself option where you can choose to provide the website your FB or LinkedIn name and once they check you out there you get a little verified tick by your profile.

48howdidthathappen · 22/11/2012 18:57

questions same here the men I have met all appear to be who they say they are, pics match up too.

Well Mr fuck and run has been in touch, so maybe I was wrong about him Blush
Or perhaps he is reading MN Grin

mercury7 · 22/11/2012 19:03

people not looking like their pics is a problem, but not that hard to get around..the greater problem is that it's difficult to determine chemistry without meeting in person, and also mistaking an online connection for a RL connection.

I think asking others to rate or review a person is too problematic

mercury7 · 22/11/2012 19:06

I think personal relationships are complex and multi layered and as such inevitably fraught with misunderstandings and misread intentions, not to mention deliberate deceit...you just have to learn to cope and manage

bantamrooster · 22/11/2012 19:50

No word from juliette yet? The therapist replied thanking me and saying it was more matey than anything. Which is what it felt like to me too. Okay my radar is vaguely working then

domesticgodless · 22/11/2012 20:34

Very weird- no messages at all on OKC from anyone other than obvious married men and one with a massive beard (sorry no can do)

Then a nice funny message from a 19 year old girl (I am bi and this is on profile). I am 39. She likes 'mature women' - from profile not message. I feel freaked and as if I'd be exploiting her in some way If I pursued it. It doesn't help that I teach people her age :/

Or is it just me being reverse-agist?!

questions2008 · 22/11/2012 20:41

mercury you're right, it's not as easy as click online = click in RL, hence the inherent difficulties of OD

bant ahh, well at least as you said your radar's working..whats happening with the Venezuelan?

juliette no loo break? Wink
