My DP smells

He smells. He may bathe once a month sometimes he leaves it longer but it's never more than once a month.

I've told him that a bath won't hurt him once in a while but he doesn't listen . He must know he's filthy as he sits there picking filth from under his fingernails.

He's clean (ish) in other ways he brushes his teeth every morning , he doesn't do it at night though. He sprays deodorant in but funnily enough doesn't smell of BO he just smells of unwashed.

He's not depressed as he walks around singing a lot if the time.

I'm getting fed up now and spray deodorant in the living room when he goes to work just to get rid of the smell.

It just smells of unwashed and wind

What can I do ??

Hahaha
Sorry folks. I just think the op doesn't realise how rank this is. It's really foul but it's true.

NermalAndGarfield · 10/09/2012 20:12

Doesn't he get a bit, well, cheesy? Boak.

Show this thread to your DP, if this doesn't make him see how rancid he is, then nothing will.

It's not normal.

I expect the OP hasn't come back out if shock & shame, the poor thing. At least she's got an idea of what everyone else thinks.

An ex of mine smelt of the work he did (how intriguing) and after an initial period of "Ew, darling, please shower" I completely stopped noticing it. I know others would have though. He didn't want to stink either but we'd sometimes get confused as I liked the smell of his sweat and general man-smell but block out the work smell.

Hope this helps (heh)

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 10/09/2012 20:36

OP, how often do you bathe?

BelinaTheChicken · 10/09/2012 20:45

FFS OP came on for some help and advice, you don't have to keep telling her how gross it is and sniggering amongst yourselves. Sorry if anyone has posted decent advice, I just skim read.

Just read back, and there is good advice, just think the amount of people saying how gross it is is a little unnecessary

Cynner · 10/09/2012 20:58

Dear OP,
This seems like a dreadful situation for you. It is not alright for you and your children to be living with a person who exhibits so little for respect for himself, or you. His lack of hygiene impacts everyone in the family, including your dc. Imagine how they must feel if their friends make rude comments about their father?

OhEmGee24 · 10/09/2012 21:05

He craps every day yeh Confused. Couple that with no washing (boak)
