Morning all.

Talking of Toast Toppers, he took 2 tins of that as well. Yes, really.

My pantry is now full of Heinz cheese ravioli and Tesco sausage and beans.

With the BH you must at least have til the end of the week to expect a response to your solicitor's letter though. Hopefully you get a chance to have a few days peaceful reflection on everything and a bit of a break from it.

Agree on the hot tubs - rather odd, methinks! You did really well giving it a try anyway so don't be hard on yourself Smile

Tomato purée and cheese in crumpets sounds intriguing... Were they the crumpets with holes in the top or the savoury English muffin type things?

epeesarepointythings · 26/08/2012 21:03

Tomato puree and melted cheese on crumpets....

BabylonPI · 26/08/2012 21:05

Sorry about the itchy teeth comment - think I posted without reading it all properly HmmBlush

CockBollocks it's a T25 Wedge - I'm currently lying in it BFing DS to sleep Grin

Portofino · 26/08/2012 21:06

I actually like pickle and melted cheese on crumpets. I am low carbing at the mo, so avoiding such things.

FrankWippery · 26/08/2012 21:08

YOu shouldn't go in hot tubs when pregnant anyway so just as well. Why on earth would anyone want two hot tubs?! His and Hers? Odd people.

Epees, you could always make crumpets. You will NEVER want shop bought ones again I promise you.

I disagree with the tomato purée though I'm afraid - it MUST be butter, marmite and cheese. In that order.

LouP19 · 26/08/2012 21:08

Crumpets with holes. Toast crumpets in toaster. Spread thickly with tomato puree. Add thickly sliced mature cheddar, bung under grill.
Never done it before, just had an urge. It worked.
And thanks for the curry recipe! Smile
And yes, here's to at least a restful few days,........

Wash your mouth out Porto. Pickle? On crumpets. Not good.

garlicnuts · 26/08/2012 21:18

Sounds like a very nice Sunday, Lou - with a funny story attached!
You seem on very good form, and YAY for cooking :) Hope you get another good day tomorrow.

garlicnuts · 26/08/2012 21:19

Doesn't anybody else call them pikelets? I get all Confused by different kinds of crumpets & muffins.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/08/2012 21:22

Butter on crumpets and not else. I'm a purist dontcha know.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/08/2012 21:22

My parents call them pike lets

UnrequitedSkink · 26/08/2012 21:27

Isn't a pikelet an English muffin? And a crumpet is the holey one...that you have to have slathered in lashings of melty butter [wanders off to inspect the bread bin] [wanders back dejectedly]

mistlethrush · 26/08/2012 21:30

A pikelet is distinctly different - much thinner, whereas a crumpet is made in a crumpet ring and is about 1.5 - 2cms

HappySunflower · 26/08/2012 21:34

Cheese with raspberry jam and melted cheese is divine!
It doesn't sound like it, but trust me- give it a go!

HappySunflower · 26/08/2012 21:36

Oh and THIS is very important, so listen carefully...

If you have crumpets with just butter, then you must butter them straight away whilst they are still hot, that way the butter melts all the way through to the middle before dribbling down your chin

LouP19 · 26/08/2012 21:37

Happy that sounds divine. He took the cranberry sauce obviously, but not the raspberry jam,....

You lot keep me going, you know!

Happy sunflower That was cruel. I now want crumpets with butter. I have neither.

grumpykat · 26/08/2012 21:45

Pickled onions are allowed to go on crumpets, with cheese and butter.
Golden syrup is also allowed, but only with butter.
I love crumpets .

Allalonenow · 26/08/2012 21:49

Hello Lou,
I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your day, well done.

Good call on the hot tub, I think foot fungus may have been the least of your problems. Chlamydia would have been a real possibility, and devastating in your condition and with your TTC history.

As for crumpets and pikelets, they are not remotely similar. But I am a huge fan of cheese and jam, black cherry jam with Laughing Cow, raspberry jam with Philly, apricot jam with cottage cheese, I could go on......

mistlethrush · 26/08/2012 21:50

Lou - cottage cheese and raspberry jam is also rather good on crumpets (or muffins - that's the 'English' muffins not the cake variety)

epeesarepointythings · 26/08/2012 21:51

Frank I have done home-made crumpets, but I don't even have the ingredients...

And I'm one of those that hates Marmite, I'm afraid. Please don't hate me.

FWIW I think the jam/melted cheese combo works better inside a pitta bread than with a crumpet, but that's just me.
