Hi there..well i met this lovely person off the internet and we seem to hit it off. He's very old school romantic like Bram Strokers dracula kind of romantic.
He is 75 but still looks good on it..he hasn't got much money so befor anyone thinks i with him for money it not.
He knows i'm a single mum and he said that's not a problem. I haven't had a bloke care for me like this for a long time..do you think it matters that he's that age? Just tell me honestly..

Yes, I'd date someone older if I liked them. How old are you?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 05/01/2012 15:41

Yes, I would. I've always liked older men. Donald Sutherland has been my idol since I was a teenager... Blush

Cantthinkofafunnynickname · 05/01/2012 15:56

Ive dated older men - not 75 but late 40's (im 21)

Solo · 05/01/2012 16:01

I would! I really quite fancy a chap who is 72; I'm 47, he's older than my Mum! the only thing that puts me off a bit are his dentures!

Trills · 05/01/2012 16:06

Alot older.

lubeybooby · 05/01/2012 16:07

Well my best, most fun and lovely relationship was with a man 26 years older than me so basically yes I would. I was 30 he was 56. We worked wonderfully and had a brilliant meeting of minds. My previous ex's before him were 13, 15 and 18 years older than me. I married the one 13 yrs older.

There is a limit for me though, I met someone once when I was 26, he confessed to being 72 and I just couldn't that 46 year gap was just tooooo much! Having said that I know i 40 yr old who has an 80 yr old partner.

But it comes down to personal preference I think and if you get on and are attracted then so what.

Solo · 05/01/2012 16:08

Maybe OP missed the space bar Trills? that's what I thought when I read it.

lisaro · 05/01/2012 16:11

It would completely depend on the man. But certainly not against it.

Trills · 05/01/2012 16:11

Maybe the OP would like to see a funny cartoon, that's what I thought when I linked.

elastamum · 05/01/2012 16:29

No I wouldnt. But that is because I am 47 with young children and I dont want to end up as someones carer in a few yrs time when my kids have flown the nest.

I have nothing against older men in general though. My DP is 5yrs older than me and he is just lovely.

TimothyClaypoleLover · 05/01/2012 16:31

I don't think I would unless he was Harrison Ford.

reelingintheyears · 05/01/2012 16:33

Only if he was rich.

flatbellyfella · 05/01/2012 16:33

I am not in any relationship ,but if I was I would hope it would be someone younger than me, I find it annoying when a younger female gets seen out with an older man, that the man is seen as a "dirty old man" only after one thing. I am certainly capable of loving & caring as any young man, I love children . So don't be put off by age differences in a relationship.

TheTruthNothingButTheTruth · 05/01/2012 16:40

75 ??? Not sure if they will be able to have sex properly but I suppose in this age of Viagra anything goes.

I personally would not do this unless I was around the same age.

ThompsonTwins · 05/01/2012 16:47

I have not fancied an older man since I was in my teens. I would date anyone with whom I wanted to spend time. Seem only to be attracted to younger guys, though. There are some gorgeous middle-aged men e.g. Daniel Craig - but alas I am much older than him. Will just have to let Rachel keep him curls lip and snarls

akaemmafrost · 05/01/2012 16:48

Out of interest would you date a bloke much YOUNGER than you. I met a lovely one a couple of weeks ago but he is 14 years younger than me! So felt it was a no go, although he seemed interested.

In answer to the OP, yes I probably would date someone quite a bit older than me as long as they made me laugh and I found them attractive.

Curtainmyself · 05/01/2012 16:55

Why would age matter. Nothing much is guaranteed is it.

A girl I went to school died from a broken leg before she was 12. I also know an 89 year old who is a champion bowler.

Go for it.

Cantthinkofafunnynickname · 05/01/2012 16:55

akae - Id love to but as im only 21 if I dated younger Id go to prison!!!!

Solo · 05/01/2012 17:14

I 'dated' a man 18 years younger than me.

KatieScarlett2833 · 05/01/2012 17:16

I would

lagrandissima · 05/01/2012 17:19

Although in theory 'age doesn't matter' and one man of 60 might be more fun and energetic than one at 40, I'd be more likely to go for a younger than an older man. Probably because in my mind I'm a 20 year old (until I look in the mirror...)

Bloodyhellthathurts · 05/01/2012 18:42

I've dated much older men - I think it depends on the respective ages, I went out with someone 15 years older than me when I was 18 and I changed a lot through our 6 year relationship - him not so much. If you're both 'mature' (emotionally) then I don't see any problems.

ameliagrey · 05/01/2012 18:50

well how old are you OP?

Come back and tell us or I will think you are a writer looking for info!

I would not date a man of 75 and I am in my 50s.

I would date a man 10 or possibly 15 years younger, as I look younger than I am, and am young at heart.

I did once date a man 14 years my senior.

The problem with dating someone over 70 if you are much younger is that their health will give out sooner rather than later ( usually) and they won't be able to get it up Grin

seriously- I think it's fine if it suits you, but I'd go for younger given the choice.

akaemmafrost · 05/01/2012 18:54

Grin well I am forty, so it's not too bad is it? I don't know though, how would any of YOU feel if your mid twenties ds was dating a 40 year old? Not too happy I should think.

Obviously thinking a fair bit about this but it does seem much more acceptable for a 40 year old man to be dating a mid twenties woman doesn't it?

TooEasilyTempted · 05/01/2012 18:57

I would only date a 75 year old if he was rich, ready to croak and likely to leave me his fortune in his will Grin
