Hello, I'm Mouse and I have an ever changing relationship with alcohol.

This is the Brave Babes Battle Bus, it's a support thread for those who feel their drinking habits are not what they should be, or even those of another.

Sober, drinking or somewhere in between, come take a seat. Smile

And for those who would like to know where this all started, HERE is a link to the threads before this one.

Make THIS year THE year that you change your life, for the better. Smile

Have a Happy New Year, full of memories to treasure, not to forget.

DS loved his cake - must try and post the nice pic of his face when he saw it!
We have eaten the roof, and he was delighted to find that inside were slices of chocolate sponge! DD1 had piped "Joseph's Crib" on the front - he was well chuffed. One of his little mates said enviously "oh, I've never had a 3-D cake like that" Grin

SillyStrokeSensibleMum · 28/01/2012 20:49

Amazing cake, Ma! That must have taken hours and hours to do. So nice that your son obviously really appreciated it too Smile Aww.

I'm sorry some of you are missing your grown-up DC right now. As much as my little ones get on my nerves sometimes (the bickering, oh the bickering...), I can't imagine how much I'll miss them when they leave home Sad.

Saf, sounds like you've had a good day Smile Tell us what works and doesn't work won't you? I think I need to cut out caffeine, or at least coffee, it seems to make me really anxious and jittery, particularly when I have PMT. I do love coffee though. Bollocks. Why can't bloody lettuce be the thing that's bad for me?

Anyway, hope everyone's OK tonight. Thanks for setting up the new thread, Mouse, you are a little star Smile

Fairenuff · 28/01/2012 21:22

Ma that cake is amazing! What a talented dd you have and so kind to that for your ds Smile.

Enidcoleslaw · 29/01/2012 00:10

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, it's just life stuff, some things are wonderful, some are hard. It is lovely to see the support very one gives each other here and hear how everyone is getting on. I am going to make more of an effort to post (and namecheck - I am crap at that)..

ma the gingerbread house is more of a gingerbread mansion and is amazing!

sarah you're right the pregnancy hormones make everything harder - it is a bit like having PMT all the time which I had forgotten since the last time! AA isn't for everyone, I'm a great believer that everyone should do whatever works for them but AA and the twelve steps works very well for me and I'm lucky enough that I live somewhere where there is a massive amount of meetings to choose from. I attend a women's AA meeting fairly regularly, amongst others. I'll check that book out, it sounds like an interesting alternative/supplementary perspective but at the same time in my own case - if it ain't broke - don't fix it!

Off to sleep as it is stupid o'clock and I am fannying about on the Internet far too late as usual!!
X

SantaIsAnAnagramOfSatan · 29/01/2012 07:05

morning Smile

mouse i'll pm - or ideally talk to you on the phone. steak obviously not a good idea if you're suffering with chronic indigestion - red meat is the hardest and slowest thing to digest and just sits in there being nasty. though the bulk of it might push some stuff lower down out but probably not in a nice way sorry - grossness.

my aims are less discomfort and symptoms, more energy and stopping my big weight fluctuations.

lunch with family at my parents today - have to resist the red wine and the yorkshire pudding. think i've had 5 units of alcohol only this week Shock and three days of nothing. pleased with that progress.

hope those of you who don't have little cherubs to come in cuddling you and asking you to spell things at 6am manage to get a good lie in. pros and cons and all that.

Cristiane · 29/01/2012 08:48

Is there still space on the thread?

Cristiane · 29/01/2012 08:51

So thereis! Speech went very well and I did drink champagne after. But I felt brilliant and had a wonderful night and don't feel a bit guilty. I had a lot of adrenaline coursing through my veins and I danced until 3.30am. One of the best, most stress-relieving nights I've ever had.

Now back to lovely sober days with the children.

Hope everyone else is well.

SantaIsAnAnagramOfSatan · 29/01/2012 08:56

i'm glad it went well cristiane - well done. what did you do your speech on/around in the end?

Mouseface · 29/01/2012 09:49

Morning, tis me, Mouse

Saf - I'll text you my house phone number, not sure if I can hear calls still on my mobile but will let you know. I know that steak is a MASSIVE no no. It clogs you up big time. Last night was kind of a farewell to red meat. I've been on the net trying to comprise a list of foods that I like and will eat ready for the shopping trip tomorrow. Smile

Christi - Go you! I'm glad it went well for you, you've got an awful lot on your plate right now, it's great that you focused on your speech. Smile

SSSM - It's kinda my job in a way. It started when people were asking about who could C&P the links and find a way to do it without having to list them all. So I worked out that if I C&Pd the last link to the new one, there'd always be a way to follow the journey back to the start if that makes sense? HmmConfusedGrin

Ma - that cake is fantastic! It looks yummy too. I'm so pleased that DS had a nice day. 10 is a funny age I found, getting into double figures so no longer 'little' and then again, not a teen..... DD had sleepovers from the age of 10. They ended at 11 due to girls being the most nasty little madams ever at times.

I'm so glad that I only have to have DD's hormentals the once! Nemo is suck a placid little chap by comparison.

DH is still poorly with the plague Manflu? but has just taken the wolf out for a walk so I'm hoping that clears his head a bit. Smile

Saf - what on earth can I have for breakfast if dairy and bread are out? Not a fan of fruits really........

Bproud · 29/01/2012 10:36

hi Mouse porridge is your friend, quick, cheap, and slow release energy. Sweeten it up with honey or maple syrup.

Mouseface · 29/01/2012 10:37

I have found THIS LIST so all I have to do is put some combos together and make meals from it.

Easy, right? Hmm Grin

OP posts:
Mouseface · 29/01/2012 10:39

Oooooh, thanks Bproud. It's years since I've had porridge, does ReadyBrek count? I have some in..... I thought milk was a no-no though, I use milk with ReadyBrek..... is traditional porridge made with water?

OP posts:
SillyStrokeSensibleMum · 29/01/2012 10:47

BProud, you beat me to it! I was going to say porridge! . You could use rice milk or soya milk Smile. Never had porridge made with water (sounds a bit bleurgh but maybe it's worth a try). Could you add some sultanas (before you start to cook it so they are nice and soft)? That's not real fruit Grin. I have started having eggs for breakfast. Are they allowed? Are the injections starting to work do you think? You sound chirpy so I hope so! Smile

Saf 5 units in a week is amazing, well done! I think I'd find that harder than zero units.

Christi, well done on the speech. You must feel fab after having done that. Though how you can call it stress-relieving I don't know!! How is DH? Is he still away?

SillyStrokeSensibleMum · 29/01/2012 10:51

Oh and I've just checked - ReadyBrek is just oats plus vitamins and minerals so tuck in. Yum yum.

Mouseface · 29/01/2012 10:57

SSSM - no, they're not. I think the fact that I am getting out of the house more, able to drive again since I got the all clear from my brain scan has helped. I don't feel as trapped. Plus I've been drinking a lot less..... no wine, no cider, just fake beers (little continental size bottles) if I fancied the taste.

Saf - I missed your units! Well bloody done you xx

I'll have a look at how best to prepare porridge, yes to sultanas too. Smile

Whoops, commented on other thread but the gang's here. Morning!

I've had a couple of nights drinking this week. I'm feeling okay, but am aware it's not healthy.

Mouse, good news about the all clear and the drinking less.

Mouseface · 29/01/2012 11:03

Sorry, SSSM, I meant that the injections aren't working. DH has just taken a photo of the bruising. It's worse and spreading so we're keeping an eye on it to make sure it's not 'bleeding'.

The left side has no bruising at all.
