Oooh nooooo! I would have died!! I hate it when people just 'pop in' to see me, and I would hate it even more if it was a handsome hunk! The guy who comes to read the gas meter has all on getting into my house! Grin

SkinnedAlive · 25/10/2011 18:27

ha ha - well it was a big shock to the system. I think that is the first person who has popped in in years! I met him at my neighbours last week, and he was visiting again so he thought he would say hi. He was going out to eat and I think he was hoping I would say I would join him. He did know about the exams though and is studying himself so understands.

I do really like him but he is, gulp, 17 years younger than me. I don't look my age (well maybe tonight ha ha) but I just feel he is a little too young, though he is very mature, thoughtful and kind. And kind, genuine men who are also handsome and find me attractive(!) do not grow on trees.

TimeForMeIsFree · 25/10/2011 18:52

Well, there would be nothing wrong in going out with him and enjoying his company. And see where things lead you.... Smile

Go for it, life is too short for regrets.

SkinnedAlive · 25/10/2011 19:02

Yes, once the exams are over I would like to go out :) He is a nice guy and it would be fun. I think I will just say outright (at the right moment) how old I am - then he can make up his own mind if it is a problem for him. I can see why it would be, but then if he both find each other attractive and have fun in each others company, then it need not necessarily be. He looked very handsome tonight and I just thought nooooooooooooooooooooo - but he has seen me at my VERY VERY worst and didn't seem put off!

Zanywany · 25/10/2011 19:06

Well he rang me a couple of times when I was at the gym so I am still going, I gave him the benefit of the doubt seen as he texted me this morning to check we were still OK.. Definately agree with the nights drawing in contributing to CBA. And the roller rink is half an hour away! Will report back to let you know how it went.

Skinned Go for it, he sounds interested and does age really matter if you get on, he is fanciable and he is mature

TimeForMeIsFree · 25/10/2011 19:29

Definitely go for it skinned. Age is just a number, although I do understand why you feel you must own up. He obviously likes you for you though so let him!

Talking of age, I've just had a message from a guy on POF "you don't look your age about 42 you look well" [hmm[

Have a good time zany, it does sound like it will be a fun date Smile

SkinnedAlive · 25/10/2011 19:33

Oh - good luck zanywany Are you going to the roller rink - that sounds fun :)

I think the age thing just makes me think a little as most men do want to have kids. I get the impression he is not a guy that goes in for casual relationships (though I may be TOTALLY wrong of course) so if he is looking for potentially a proper relationship, then I would not like him to think I am something I am not - I am almost 40 so getting a bit old really. I know that sounds totally loony tunes as I hardly know him, but I did once date a guy who was infertile, fell for him and when he told me a good bit down the line I felt betrayed. Maybe if I had known earlier I would not have let it get serious and fell for him and then had to seriously think 'do I want a man I know I can't have a family with'. I know when dating such thoughts are WAY, WAY down the line, but it still sits in my mind. After all if you were internet dating and someones profile said they didn't want/couldn't have kids then you would not contact them if that was something important to you.

TimeForMeIsFree · 25/10/2011 20:06

"I am almost 40 so getting a bit old really" I am very nearly 47 and I am not getting old! I refuse to get old, I do!

Now skinned I would say that you are looking far too far ahead and that you are doing the thinking on his behalf. You are writing the story without his input. Stop it!! Just enjoy the moment, enjoy it for what it is in the moment and let him decide whether he wants kids or not, if you do get that far down the line with him. In the mean time, just enjoy some fabulous sex really nice times Smile

SkinnedAlive · 25/10/2011 20:20

lol - I don't feel old I have to admit!!! I refuse to get old too and WHEN I have money again I want to go on a bobsleigh holiday :)

I know I am thinking too much :( Probably to distract me from all my troubles - not to mention my exam tomorrow and big one on Friday - aggggg. I think I will ask him if he wants to meet up next week, put on something nice so I no longer resemble the creature from the black lagoon go out and just enjoy the company of a handsome, nice man :)

SkinnedAlive · 25/10/2011 20:22

Also, I think my confidence was knocked a bit by a friend who was sort of 'OMG - what would a man that age want with you?' Well I think I am funny, kind and pretty so why would someone not want to spend time with me if we have things in common and a laugh? If friends if nothing else :)

stayforappledunking · 25/10/2011 20:38

Yup skinned another vote for going for it and enjoying the ride. I am feeling all sentimental tonight and thinking how fast the last ten years have gone...and how quickly things can change. Life is too short, nothing is without risks, just give him a whirl!

hatesponge · 25/10/2011 20:52

skinned, I don't know how close to 40 you are (I'm 7 months away and counting!) but I often get approached in RL by guys in their early 20s, therefore there is no reason why this man should not be interested in you (so ignore your friend, there are always people in life who want to drag you down!) - and even if nothing comes of it, for whatever reason, you never know he may have some equally nice friends :)

hatesponge · 25/10/2011 20:55

oh, the update on my sexting man...I got another text from him earlier, and decided I'm actually a little bored of it all, so replied and said I think we need to come up with other topics of conversation because it's all a bit samey Grin

He hasn't replied. So either he's wracking his (clearly sex-obsessed) brain for something else to talk about, or he's moved onto the next victim! No loss really Grin

TimeForMeIsFree · 25/10/2011 21:02

Yaaay skinned do it!! And enjoy it Smile I ignore your 'friend', people who are too weak to follow their own dreams will always find a way to discourage yours. Am I allowed to ask what you are studying and what the exams are you are taking? I won't be offended if you prefer not to say on here.

Well done sponge He may well be nursing a bruised ego. I can just imagine that he thought his seduction technique was bowling you over Grin Bloody men!

SkinnedAlive · 25/10/2011 21:16

I am 2 months off 40 - but the odd thing is all the hot men in their early 20's - who never looked twice at me when I was the same age - all like me :) Its flattering but some are just into getting blind drunk and I no longer have the tolerence for shoveing them in taxis [hconfused]. This guy is different - he seems very together and mature but still fun :) I think because my friends from uni are often early/mid 20's and also because I am pretty healthy - I do look young. And also I have the confidence to wear, say and do what I want now that younger women often don't - and I never did when I was younger. I think that is attractive in any age :)

TimeForMeIsFree · 25/10/2011 21:19

Well, I can't say I'm finding men around my age very attractive at all, they seem so much older, some of them look it too!! I vote that you should enjoy the young bit of stuff! Grin

adamschic · 25/10/2011 21:26

Skinned, if you fancy him then go for it. Keep an open mind on it and who knows. Lots of young men appreciate women your age not just because they have an older woman fetish (some do) but because you still look good with the confidence and experience that girls their age don't have. Think your friend might have been a tad [jealous]

I've had a few flings relationships with younger men, the youngest was last year at 26 years youngers (I am an oldie) but must admit that got a bit silly and I've put it all behind me since.

Sponge, bet that cooled his ardour. Grin.

SkinnedAlive · 25/10/2011 21:42

Awww - thanks everyone :) Most of my friends I hang out with say I should go for it. This other friend I think is a little jelous - you are right. She is not having much luck dating, and I think she is a bit miffed that all the hot young guys her age seem to make a beeline for me[hwink]

hatesponge · 25/10/2011 22:49

skinned - glad you're going for it, keep us posted :)

well we may have been too harsh with sexting man. He has come back and apologised Shock for being too forward, and hopes he hasn't offended me!

SkinnedAlive · 25/10/2011 23:20

Well the fact he can apologise is a good sign! A second chance maybe :) If he can come up with some decent conversation!

Of course Shineon how are you.

The more I hear about him Skinned the more I say go for it.

THats good Sponge that he realises he was too forward, maybe he just got carried away

Well I am back from my Roller Skating date and it was really good. He was fanciable and easy to talk to but I think he may have ishooooos about his ex wife and last girlfriend.

PoppaRob · 26/10/2011 04:20

Had a small epiphany today. The ex's Mum lives down this way and has had some health dramas so the ex came down to see her. We caught up for a coffee at Maccas. It was nice to catch up and I still felt some fondness as a friend, but there was no yearning for what was or what might have been. I've moved on! Yay me! Definitely looking forward to meeting the quiet one tomorrow night.

lubeybooby · 26/10/2011 07:44

Glad your date was good Zany, what makes you think there are issues there re: his ex?

Nice epiphany there Poppa!

Morning everyone!

Ooh a man that can apologise sponge, not all bad at all!

Pleased to hear your date went well zany, usually things do turn out much better than we anticipated when we have been dreading them. Shame about the ishoos though.

Yaay Poppa agree with lubey, nice epiphany Smile

Welcome back Shiney Smile

All well here, lulu had a good night, slept in with DD, and I mean in with DD. I went in to tuck her in last night and they were both fast asleep in bed!
