Hello, I'm Mouse Smile and I have a very abusive relationship with alcohol.

I can't just have one glass of anything, I have to drink until I pass out or run out. Whichever comes first.

This Bus is a place of solace and safety, where drinkers, non-drinkers and those who aren't quite sure can come and post or just sit and 'be'.

No-one will judge you, no-one will think any the less of you because we all have the same thing in common.

Alcohol.

And for those who want to read the journey's so far and the original thread by JWN, the lady who very bravely started these journeys for us, HERE they are. Smile

(PS - the title is just for you notevenamousie)

Apologies Mouse for my misinterpretation - could you ask for them on repeat so that you have them in for such occasions? Doesn't seem unreasonable, assuming they are not mind or mood altering, and better than going each time you need them :) Hope dr is helpful.

Loving my kitchen is the graveyard of good intentions Grin

Off to school, like a whirlwind today, which is good.

Think house is sorted out, will be so grateful to be earning again but trying to shelve all that and keep it in the day for now.

MelodyPond · 10/10/2011 15:13

Haven't stopped eating today, think I'm trying to fill myself up in anticipation of this evening! Monday is my one day off so I've been keeping myself busy cleaning, or trying to!

Got a group coming round later for our first weigh in, we decided paying people to weigh us is stupid.

I'm booking our honeymoon this week, so that's a really good reason to lose weight and get healthy. We've been married eight years but not been able to have one due to the kids.

Still feeling positive for the first time in ages, enough is enough. And posting keeps me busy too!

Hope its ok to come on here and ramble like this...hope you're all having a good day Smile

dementedma · 10/10/2011 15:47

just checking in. feeling good, had much less booze than usual over the weekend, am progressing with painting the bedroom of death, bought the boy a pair of boots for winter at 50% off. Bargain! (size 6 FFS , and he's only 9 years old).
Oh, and on the dress front, I tried one on in a charity shop today which was a size bigger than the disastrous ebay one and it was TOO BIG Grin.
Still don't have a dress but it made me feel better.

beakinthebeeswax · 10/10/2011 15:48

I am here to shatter the silence of this thread! It is a strange day here. Its really overcast and drizzly. It actually feels like a sunday. If I was still drinking I would have got a few cans lager. I would not do that now, I am on the bus to sobriety with you lot! Had one pint lager last weekend when weather was nice, but did not enjoy the taste and felt a bit sick but mainly dissappointed with self. Did not feel the urge to get drunk which was good. It was the first drink I had had in a long time.
mouse My kitchen is The graveyard of good intentions, take last night for example, DP cooked sunday dinner and boiled potatoes to wallpaper paste. Had to have oven chips. How we laughed!Grin

MelodyPond · 10/10/2011 16:00

Hi beak, that's good you didn't feel the urge to get drunk. I can never ever just have one!

I hate weather like this. Not hot, not cold, just drizzle and grey skies. Ah well, it will be snowing soon if the doom stories are to be believed...

Dd (12) will be home from school in a minute, I'm going to help het do her homework safe in the knowledge I can see it through to the end because I won't get distracted by wine...Smile

MelodyPond · 10/10/2011 16:01

Demented, that's fab about the dress, that would cheer me up big time!

ScareyFairenuff · 10/10/2011 17:17

I went there as a child about 100 years ago and all I can remember is getting sand in my eye. Confused Grin

Well that's some entrance simplewisdomSmile

I clicked and its a list of AA sayings- I'd heard about a quarter of them.

Hope you stick around- care to tell us about yourself?

Silver66 · 10/10/2011 18:05

Hi Babes - just checking in

Faire - jump on a tram or drive to Lytham St Annes - beautiful beach and lovely shops. Only a ten minute drive.

Sea World is quite good, Madam Tussauds is huge, The Tower has it's own aquarium and you can go and watch the tea dances which are fab, and if you've got the bottle take the walk of faith at the top of the tower (glass floor).

I've always been fond of North Pier - fortune tellers and the like - tacky but with character and a great carousel at the end of the Pier

Obviously the illuminations - take an open top tram.

They have recently redeveloped the centre of town and it is sooooo much nicer than it used to be.

Never been to the Zoo

Pleasure Beach is hideous BUT unfortunately the kids will love it...............

Ditto the Sandcastle swimming pool - never been inside, left that to DP, but the kids Love it - slides and all that.

IMO Blackpool is a classic British holiday resort - I don't live there but have worked there quite a bit.

Hope that helps Grin

PS - attractions are expensive - Tesco vouchers???

Silver66 · 10/10/2011 18:16

Ma - just a thought - Gok thingy has just designed some clothes for Asda and one of them is a very simple but elegant dress, that is supposed to flatter all shapes - about £40 I think - hopeless at links but I am sure you can google it Grin

and a GOOD BRA - if you have a Bravissimo near you or an independent retailer it is worth the money - BUT you need someone who knows what they are doing to tell you what size - forget M&S, John Lewis etc - you need someone who doesn't mind getting up close and personal and manhandling your norks to get a really good fit Grin

MelodyPond · 10/10/2011 18:22

I don't believe it. I'm having a beer. Wtf is wrong with me Sad

Silver66 · 10/10/2011 18:23

Silver66 · 10/10/2011 18:24

MelodyPond · 10/10/2011 18:28

I've put it down. I will not get drunk tonight. Oh bloody Hell, I need all alcohol out of my house.

Silver66 · 10/10/2011 18:30

bin it now then - go on - dares ya Grin

MelodyPond · 10/10/2011 18:36

Oh god, I don't think I could! Tell you what I will keep it for dh and ask him to hide it or something!

Mwahahahahahahahouseface · 10/10/2011 18:37

Silver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I have a little moan please? I have waited 36 days for my period to arrive and now that it has I want to weep. I am in so much pain. I HATE IT!!! Grrrrr.

Melody - Thing is sweets, if you want to drink, you will, regardless of what we or anyone else says. You're not ready to not drink yet. Well, actually, that may be a bit harsh, sorry.

What I mean is, you want to stop drinking, you want to be able to have just the odd drink or two but if you are really, really honest with yourself, you're not ready for that just yet.

So, if you are going to finish that beer, then do so and enjoy it.

I would always make the excuse that I would give up once the vodka had all gone. Of course it never did, it always topped itself up again, magically.

It's not easy this not drinking lark but the more pressure you put on yourself to stop, the more you will fail.

You will stop when you are totally ready to do so, in your heart and in your head. xx

Silver66 · 10/10/2011 18:41

Mwa Mwa mwa mwa.

Melody The Mighty Mouse is right I'm afraid...................Smile

DD stealing computer - may be back later Wink xxxxx

ScareyFairenuff · 10/10/2011 19:02

Oi no snoggin' on the bus! Unless it's on the back seat of course, then that's alright 'cos it's discreet innit. Grin

Thanks for the tips Silver and, yes, I am prepared to come home minus an arm and a leg. But it's got to be done, it's part of our heritage, Blackpool is. I've heard you can get a wristband cheaper online for pleasure beach.

DS will love the glass floor up the tower, so that's a must. I've booked 2 nights in hotel but could do 3 if there's lots to do. I'm looking forward to the lights. DCs are looking forward to chips, candy floss, burgers and rock.

DH is looking forward to spending his time 24/7 with his lovely wife being generous with his hard earned cash & his kids hyped up on sugar and funfair excitement Grin.

MelodyPond · 10/10/2011 19:07

Thanks mouse, I just wish I could stop. What on earth has happened to me?! Do you think its better to just try and cut down then? I'm gutted Sad

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 10/10/2011 19:09

Silver my friend! How are you?

Mousie Well done you! I have been very remiss in posting lately, will pm you tomorrow.

I'm just checking in. Really busy day, I will be lucky if I get to 9 without falling asleep.

Ma Ebay are notorious for mis-describing garments ( been there!). Things not ok in the department!

V tired tonight, I have worked all afternoon, (no money required Angry, and am going for an early bath and bed.

Very strange posting earlier, all US based I think, judging by the spelling. If you want to join the bus, welcome. The journey is long (for most of us) but, the destination is worth it Smile.

Speak later.

MelodyPond · 10/10/2011 19:22

Have been googling and will also talk to dh, who is fantastic, when he is home. He works shifts so isn't here much. I tend to put Ds2 who is 3 to bed and then crack on with a drink.

I'm feeling pretty deflated as I was so sure I could do it. Got all shaky again. I will stick around and keep posting if that's ok. I'm not going to give up.
