Grin at Time

I'm another pedant, at heart, when it comes to spelling and grammar. I do try to ignore the odd spelling mistake though, as nobody's perfect, not even me Wink Text speak is a definite no no though. I put no text speak in my Smooch profile and still got contacted in text speak Hmm I've recently moved that sentence from the end of my profile to the section where I say what I'm looking for in a man, so we'll see.

TimeForMeIsFree · 30/09/2011 11:33

stay see my post of 11:11am for name of a player on POF.

PoppaRob, definitely not the bear! Grin

TimeForMeIsFree · 30/09/2011 11:35

I don't entertain text speak either, or profiles without a photo. The married men who contact me get a lecture online session of marriage guidance for free. It's a wonder I've never been blocked! Grin

PoppaRob · 30/09/2011 11:37

time... not the bear? How about this one. Wouldn't it show a snaggy side of me?

Zanywany · 30/09/2011 11:39

Keep the photo Poppa, like time says it shows your a chilled out guy.

I think I'll see how it goes, he lives an hour away so wouldn't be surprised if he offers and I am usually very carefull but seen as I've chatted with him so much already I am getting a good vibe from him but will see what tomoorow night brings.

I don't like being called lady but quite like hun for some reason

PoppaRob · 30/09/2011 11:41

We were always told at school that "lady" was a term of denigration. Our sister school was Methodist Ladies College though, which caused some concern!

TimeForMeIsFree · 30/09/2011 11:43

PoppaRob No to the bear, get rid of the bear! There are many male profiles out there with comments on photo's and they specifically say they will not reply to any featuring soft toys or animals Grin

Zany I think that's a good plan. Assess this situation while in situ!

PoppaRob · 30/09/2011 11:43

zany, I meant get rid of the one in the suit.

ChaoticAngelofSamhain · 30/09/2011 11:43

Love that photo Poppa Smile

Wrt names for me it depends on the context, and sometimes the person, really.

TimeForMeIsFree · 30/09/2011 11:44

Shock I thought lady was rather classy!

TimeForMeIsFree · 30/09/2011 11:45

Don't get rid of the one in the suit Poppa because it shows another side to you.

TimeForMeIsFree · 30/09/2011 11:46

Try putting the one with the guitar as your main profile pic and see if you get a different kind of response. Let's do an experiment!! Grin

PoppaRob · 30/09/2011 11:51

time... done.

I just got a message from a guy with this on his profile "I would like someone that will love and respect me for who I am, that likes to hold my hand and surprise me with a little kiss when I least expect it,or give me a wink from across the room to let me know she's thinking about me or give me a call just to let me know she's thinking about me."

Now, I don't know if it's me who is odd but that turned me off straight away. I think it's ok doing all those things when in a relationship but asking for it on a profile just smacks of neediness to me. Me, Me, Me!! Nothing about what his partner can expect from him.

lubeybooby · 30/09/2011 12:03

I would agree time. There are people like that out there and i'd be inclined to think he was one of them. Me Me me, take take take.

OP posts:
hellsbells76 · 30/09/2011 12:05

Couldn't agree more. If he turned that round and said that was the sort of thing he likes to do for his partner, it'd be a different matter.

PoppaRob · 30/09/2011 12:06

So we add no SNAGiness to no cars and no fish. :)

PoppaRob · 30/09/2011 12:07

so hellsbells, are we seeing a double standard here? A Venus and Mars imbalance?

hellsbells76 · 30/09/2011 12:10

Er, no I don't think so. I think anyone on a dating site needs to state what they're able to offer someone else, not issue a list of demands if they don't want to come across as a needy, selfish individual. I think you're seeing sexism where there is none tbh.

ChaoticAngelofSamhain · 30/09/2011 12:16

I had a message on OKCupid this morning from someone with spanking as part of their username Shock Now I know there's a phrase 'brand spanking new' so it doesn't automatically mean anything sexual but on a dating site...Hmm

TimeForMeIsFree · 30/09/2011 12:16

Totally agree hellsbells He also says this " I feel that a WOMAN like you is GOD's undeserved gift to MAN" Hmm

As an aside, he likes to take a walk when the weather is mild and his best quality is that he is 'careing'.

ChaoticAngelofSamhain · 30/09/2011 12:18

I don't have a problem with profiles that state what they need/are looking for so long as it's balanced with what they have to offer.

hellsbells76 · 30/09/2011 12:18

Oh god, bin him for the spelling alone...

TimeForMeIsFree · 30/09/2011 12:18

chaotic I blocked one called 'swingingpartnerwanted' no mention of swinging in his profile but I guess his user name said it all!
