Hello

I'm Mouse Smile

Welcome aboard The Brave Babe's Battle Bus. There are a whole host of lovely posters here who will support your journey to sobriety, however you choose to get there.

We are a Bus full of drinkers, non-drinkers and those who are somewhere in between.

BUT - we will never judge or leave a poster out in the cold. So, find a seat and settle down for the journey ahead.

And HERE is the last thread and those before it too. Just follow the links to read the journeys so far.

I stood outside her door for a full five minutes.. feel like ive been hit by a bus..but i'm sober.. whats a smart meeting..?

dementedma..hugs..xx

GollyHolightly · 07/07/2011 20:54

You may well feel like you've been hit by a bus, but you know what? I bet you feel relieved. You could have been hit by a bus in many other ways either literally or figuratively (in terms of the damage to relationships) if you didn't take action. The bus that hit you is a good one Smile

SMART recovery I went to my first meeting tonight, but I've been wrangling with myself about how it might clash with my AA attendance in terms of different approaches. Firstly, I was extremely relieved to find that the facilitator at the meeting is someone that I recognised from AA meetings so I immediately felt that the two weren't in direct opposition to each other Grin. Secondly, the meeting I went to today is the only meeting - once weekly - in my city at the moment and it clashes with my AA homegroup, but there is a second meeting starting up on another night in just two weeks and they aim to have seven meetings a week by the end of the year, WAHEYY! Grin So it looks like for now I can do both without freaking myself out, because I do want to keep going through the AA steps because they make a lot of sense to me.

I can also relax loads about the stress I've had around relapses, as my sense has been that if AA wasn't working for me then I was utterly at the end of the line. I'm not at the end of the line at all, there are other options and nothing to stop me working more than one programme and perhaps together they will sort me out good 'n proper.

Anyway, the upshot is that I'm feeling very positive about it and if I do eventually decide that AA isn't for me then I'm not completely out there on my own. Phew.

Yes..it was.. the inner dialogue I had was what really scared me..having spent so many hours talking a coke addiction through..the clarity realising I was making the same choices..with the same twisted perceptions as my 'friend' was a cold moment..
SMART looks very interesting..I've read really quite alot on CBT etc..

Littleblue · 07/07/2011 21:18

GollyHolightly · 07/07/2011 21:21

GollyHolightly · 07/07/2011 21:45

Ohhhh, look, there's a kindle version, I could have it within five seconds if I like Grin

I have a lot of reading material at the moment ( Confused ) but I might as well download it for a later date, do you recommend it? The reviews (from decent sources Wink ) look good.

Littleblue · 07/07/2011 21:47

Its marvellous..!! can't put it down (yes I can type one handed) Grin

venusandmars · 07/07/2011 21:49

link here

Is that the one?

Littleblue · 07/07/2011 21:51

Yes.. been reading it for hours..cant recommend it highly enough..another mumsnetter put me onto it..

GollyHolightly · 07/07/2011 21:53

I've bought it, downloaded it, it's ready to read. God I love my kindle. And my iPhone. And my laptop. Blush

OMG, I'm becoming a complete gadget junky Shock

Littleblue · 07/07/2011 21:54

LOL!..

Read the 18 warning signs..chapter 3

GollyHolightly · 07/07/2011 21:55

Will do. I bet I've done them all Hmm Grin

Littleblue · 07/07/2011 21:58

Think we will all recognise something there.. mine was the counting backwards of cash the morning after a night out.. and actually convincing myself I'd been robbed.. no recollection of the latter half of the night apart from vague faces of friends as they picked me up off the floor... not my finest hour.

Littleblue · 07/07/2011 21:58

thats the one that stuck out.. there are others..

GollyHolightly · 07/07/2011 22:01

Bugger, it doesn't seem to have downloaded properly and it's skipping to the first page of each chapter without letting me read the pages in between.

I have absolutely no idea what to do about that, and this is where my gadget addiction falls to pieces. Where to they hold electronics anonymous, I wonder.

Littleblue · 07/07/2011 22:02

Is it archived..? I have a kindle app on my lappy.. if you find electronics anonymous..I'm in..my very expensive macbook is sulking atm

GollyHolightly · 07/07/2011 22:04

I don't think it's archived. The only thing on the archived list is the kindle user guide. Gah, what do i do now? can I re-download it without having to pay for it again?

Littleblue · 07/07/2011 22:05

gawds..dunno..I'm dead new at it.. maybe flash back through the pages and click download again.. how annoying..!!

GollyHolightly · 07/07/2011 22:17

I'm new to kindle too, got it for my birthday in June. Anyway, clicked back then risked hitting the 'buy' button, it told me to reload from archived items where it isn't showing but it did give me a helpline number to ring, so I'll do that tomorrow and then I shall read the 18 warning signs. If nothing else, i bet this has kept you busy for the last hour or so and kept your mind off wanting to have a drink Wink

Mouseface · 07/07/2011 22:18

Off to bed.

Been a hard day, sorry I've not contributed much of late. I do think of you all!
