Hello

I'm Mouse Smile

Welcome aboard The Brave Babe's Battle Bus. There are a whole host of lovely posters here who will support your journey to sobriety, however you choose to get there.

We are a Bus full of drinkers, non-drinkers and those who are somewhere in between.

BUT - we will never judge or leave a poster out in the cold. So, find a seat and settle down for the journey ahead.

And HERE is the last thread and those before it too. Just follow the links to read the journeys so far.

have dd's 7 and 3. I was a weekend binger/clubber before- then didnt drink much at all. until i stopped smoking, the wine glass replaced the fags.

BBwannaB · 24/06/2011 20:36

Ah well, good that you gave up the fags, just need a new addiction to replace the drink... mine is dairy milk Grin

rusmum · 24/06/2011 20:39

lol- how much did/do you drink if you dont mind me asking? feel like a freak sometimes in comparison to people i know- Nice to feel like i am not being judged !

BBwannaB · 24/06/2011 20:52

I was drinking variable amounts, as always trying to 'moderate' or 'cut down', at the worst a bottle or two of red wine per night every night. I really wanted to get a grip, but always found a reason to lapse until I found this fab community.

I stopped drinking in October and haven't had a drop since - which I consider to be a miracle. I forgot to say that my other addiction is checking in here, I don't always post, but it is my comfort blanket, support and validation.
I can't tell you what a difference it has made to my self esteem, health and happiness.

dementedma · 24/06/2011 20:55

hey rusmum and welcome to the bus. This is a good place - i am a serial offender and constantly battling the urge. i drink pretty much every night, with occasional successes - often a bottle of wine a night.
Have reduced my intake but am still not home and dry.

Mouseface · 24/06/2011 21:00

Evening

Jeff, it's scary out there on the boards tonight! Lots of bun fights!

Hello rusmum Smile lovely to meet you.

Ma - you okay sweets? How was your day?

I'm bloomin knackered. Getting up at 4am is NOT great! Nemo has puked two of his feeds back today and I've had to med him so that he'll sleep.

We're away this weekend so hoping for some calm with his reflux but fully prepared for if not!

Hi Rusmum. A hearty and warm welcome to the bus. It is a safe haven from the rest of the madness of MN.

I have survived my dangerous times (by the skin of my teeth) and live to say that I am now on Day 4.

BBwannaB · 24/06/2011 21:01

Hi Ma how are you tonight? Well impressed with your running!

BBwannaB · 24/06/2011 21:04

Luci well done on day 4
Mouse I hope you have a good weekend, are you going to stay with friends or having a family break? Tell Nemo from me that 4.00 is NOT morning it is still night time!!

venusandmars · 24/06/2011 21:07

Well done luci, and big hello to everyone else.

BBwannaB · 24/06/2011 21:10

Litening to Mumford and sons at Glasto - in the warmth and dry of my living room - lovely Smile

GollyHolightly · 24/06/2011 21:10

Hi Rusmum welcome aboard.

I was never a daily drinker (could never drink with a hangover). I tended towards a three day cycle. Day one was drinking, day two was hangover, day three was a good day and then on day four I would be drinking again. When I was openly drinking it would be 1-2 bottles red wine, but when my dh started to get the hump about it I started drinking vodka because it was easy to hide. A half bottle would do it usually, sometimes a little more than that, and I would drink fast then pass out. Those were the end days of my drinking, anyway. Nights out would involve lots of pints of beer followed by whatever alcohol I could lay my hands on when I got home. I've been sober for just over 6 weeks and planning on staying that way for today, at least.

I'm supposed to be at an AA convention tonight but I've wimped out Blush I really wasn't in the right frame of mind to spend and evening being told how to live my life, hopefully I'll be more willing in the morning as it's on all day tomorrow too.

BBwannaB · 24/06/2011 21:11

Listening gah my typing is shocking

Mouseface · 24/06/2011 21:12

BB - both. Friends and Family Smile he's not well tonight either, we're up to 3 lost feeds and flushed cheeks :(

Anyway, I'm going to log off.

Night all xx

BBwannaB · 24/06/2011 21:12

Golly what is an AA convention?

BBwannaB · 24/06/2011 21:14

I hope he improves and you manage to get away Mouse x

dementedma · 24/06/2011 22:20

night night all. had two glasses and nearly a whole box of maltesers!
mouse hope Nemo picks up soon

BBwannaB · 24/06/2011 22:27

Sounds like a good night Ma

GollyHolightly · 25/06/2011 09:13

Hi BB a convention is like a workshop (in this instance). There is a speaker over from the states (have reservations about that all on it's own!) and he did a talk last night which I missed. Today there are several workshops on the all the steps, I guess it'll be a bit like an intensive, and very long meeting. Possibly more like a speaker meeting than a share back one. This evening there is a social thing - sounds like a school disco to me (without the alcohol Grin ). I'll go to as many workshops as I can manage today but if I start to feel like it's overkill then I'll leave. I don't think the idea is that you end up feeling resentful that AA is taking over your life Wink

Interestingly, and I feel weirdly guilty about this, is that I emailed the local SMART recovery person the other day and I have a reply this morning. I want to go to one of their meetings because I want to check out what my options are, but it clashes with my home group so I'm going to have to chuck a sickie sometime soon. I feel like I'll be playing truant Shock

Hope you all have a lovely day and don't get too wet. The sky looks like thunder where I am, which must be nice for those at Glastonbury.

Mouseface · 25/06/2011 10:43

Hope everyone is well and happy, catch you later babes Grin

venusandmars · 25/06/2011 21:34

So what is everyone doing on this lovely Saturday evening? I put on TV to watch 'Have I Got News For You' only to find that it is a repeat from last year. I am well pissed off. Is this the best that the BBC can do on a Saturday night? I can undestand putting on repeats, but there is absoloutely no point in repeating a topical Hmm news show.

And dh has got a new book and is engrossed. In short, I'm bored. Last year I would have sat here getting quietly pissed, but what shall I do tonight? Don't worry I'm not really at risk of opening a bottle of wine, I'm just bored, bored, bored....

venusandmars · 25/06/2011 23:13

BORED

Where have you all gone to?

Are you quietly and soberly spending a happy evening at home? Are you being joyous and sober and partying - safe in the knowledge that tomorrow you'll wake up without a hangover? Are you drunk and ashamed to post? Are you struggling and have taken the usual advice to have a bath and go to bed early? Are you all on a thread somewhere else?

venusandmars · 25/06/2011 23:47

Well it's heading for midnight, so I'm off to bed. You'd better all be around tomorrow for me to chat to, or I'm going to go in a really big huff Grin.
