Hello.

I'm Mouse. Smile

We are a Bus load of posters with various relationships with the demon booze. Some are sober, some are not and some are inbetween.

So come say hi and meet the rest of The Babes, there's always plenty of room on the Bus, the doors are ALWAYS open.

No judgy pants are worn on this journey, pants yes and even the odd Tena Lady but always of the non judging variety. Grin

Ma hope you and DS have a great time in London.

Not free (but cheap if you have a travel card and I think children are still free) but my DC love travelling by bus - especially a variety. Think there's a bus from near the London Eye that goes along the south of the river and over Tower Bridge. Then we got off and got on a double decker (top deck of course) that goes down through the City of London and along Fleet Street and then on the Strand (before Waterloo Bridge) you can swap to a 'bendy bus'.

Kensington Gardens and the palyground with the Peter Pan theme.

Science Museum is good - lots of hands on stuff.

Greenwich and then take the foot tunnel under Thames to Docklands and then try the Docklands Light Railway - trains with no driver!

Have a great time.

we are definitely doing the science museum - DS is really into stuff like that - and a boat trip to the observatory and a trip on the eye.
He's also a bit of a gourmet at such a tender age so we are going to Borough market to get cheese, pate, ham, bread etc for dinner one evening
Grin. He is also a bit of a girlie so we will be buying cupcakes and mooching round Camden market.
But first i have to get my hair cut and dye it and then go to hear DD2 in her concert 2moro night. She has 3 seperate solos - just verses or bits but 3 none the less. I was very proud when she told me but even more so when she said that a boy who auditioned for one of the pieces was "brilliant" and they were all amazed when she got the part. The choir master said it had been an incredibly tough decision and said boy was totally gutted. DD then went to choir master and said as she already had a couple of bits she would stand down and give the part to the other boy. I was very proud of her for that - compassion for others is a trait worth having!

mouseface · 08/04/2011 19:37

Ma - your DD rocks. What a lovely young lady. Wonder where she gets that from? Smile

HI everyone. Sorry but have had a few drinks but not pissed/drunk. Left work and then went back to the wake with the DC's for a few mins before their Dad picked them up. Was lovely as all my friends family/friends knew them from birth. I will now make sure I always value friends for what they are. Have sat in a public bar tonight with my friend and sobbed at the lost time we had whilst not being in touch. Her Dad dying who was absolutely lovely has brought home to me what is important.

JWIM · 09/04/2011 08:55

Morning all. A bright and sunny one here - hope the same for everyone.

Ma your DD sounds lovely and you should be rightly proud of her success and her ability to think of others too. Hope you really enjoy the concert.

Isinde and Ma - yes the wine o'clock cravings do reduce and then are mostly absent. Occasionally I think I would like a glass but the smell is now really off putting.

I have come to the realisation that no one is that interested in how much I drink except me, and when I drank that anxiety/guilt was all consuming at times. Was out last night with old friends - the only one not drinking - and no one batted an eye at my not drinking at all. I haven't told people in real life (except family and DH of course) that I have actually stopped and they don't really now why Blush either. This morning I am up, guilt free, ready to enjoy the day and noting that DH is feeling somewhat less sparkly!

On with the day - have a good one - mine I think will involve gardening and a few trips to the local dump! Today I will not be drinking.

Tristmum · 09/04/2011 09:57

Morning all!

Ma - I hope the concert goes well tonight Grin

Zany - a girl I knew slightly died this week in a freak accident, and it has, as you say, brought home how very precious and fleeting life can be. I'm sorry for your friend's loss.

Isinde - did the DTs repeat their sleep-feat?

Re wine cravings, I was feeling relatively content last night having not asked DH to bring anything home on his way back from work, and then thought, well, perhaps I'll have a little glass from his wine box with dinner. Instantly, and I mean instantly, I was plotting how I could get DH out of the kitchen so I could neck a couple of hefty glasses before sitting down with my demure little glass. I didn't, but am a bit Sad at how close to the surface the thoughts still are. I know it's early days for me, and I have jumped off near the top of the slope, so am not going through a lot of what the rest of you are, but I think there's some way to go before I could contemplate being a take-it-or-leave-it person. JWIM - it's good to hear that the cravings do reduce.

Hey ho, sun shining, veg to plant and children to referee play with!

Have a good day, all.

mouseface · 09/04/2011 13:24

Afternoon Brave Babes Smile

What a gorgeous day! Loving the sunshine, it really is a tonic.

So, well done to those who kicked wobble's ass! It does get easier the longer that you don't drink.

It's like when someone says, 'don't look behind you' or 'they are for your sister, so please don't eat them'

The fact that you are being told not to do something, makes you want it more. Because you are trying to save yourself from that temptation, makes it that bit more important, and bloody difficult!

KEEP GOING BABES! ODAAT. xx

TheMessiahNoAVery0tyMouseface · 09/04/2011 15:05

Right, here we are. Smile

NotTheMessiahJustMouseface · 09/04/2011 16:19

This is the last one, I promise. Grin

Just been for a walk, lots of people in the pubs, sat outside with ice cold beers and ciders etc.

Not a flicker, not a twinge. I am really Shocked that I didn't want to join them. I just carried on stroling with Nemo and treated my very sore throat to an ice-cream instead! Yum!

Does a quiet Bus mean we are all okay? I hope so xx

jesuswhatnext · 09/04/2011 18:18

Hey All

just checking in, DD and I are having a fantastic time in London. We have walked for miles and miles and talked and laughed and generally had a bloody brill time.

I have spent way too much money - but it has been totally worth every penny!

Had a small wobble on the first day - but told my thought process where to go - and it went!!

Had already prewarned my DB and wife that I am not longer drinking, so we have had soft drinks without any bother at all.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Stay safe Brave Babes
Bafana

NotTheMessiahJustMouseface · 09/04/2011 19:14

Got a meeting at 8, my heart's really not in it but I'm going anyway because I think I'm in serious danger of falling off the wagon what with the sunshine and all the ruddy housework I've done today.

Laters alligators x

CailinBainne · 09/04/2011 19:21

checking in - been in work all day and was out late at choir last night

had half a glass of wine last night, made it last for aaaages..... dint taste as nice as it could've and I didn't immediately neck it and go back for another 4 glasses, so a semi-win.

NotTheMessiahJustMouseface · 09/04/2011 19:29

Cailin - a semi win indeed Smile

Don't let it fool you though, that ckeeky ol' devil booze can have you sucked back into a bottle (+) a night in no time.

How often do you go to choir? Sounds like you are there quite a lot.

Golly - WELL BLOODY DONE!! That's no easy thing. I bet you are beyond pleased xx

Evenin' all from me, as well!

Haven't been on much in the last couple of days, as DC1 has been home from uni, and I wanted to be around as it were.

He has gone back now, and half an hours sobbing seems to have put me to rights Blush. My G** he is just so lovely, where did I go right?!!!

Not going to project (not much!), but in September DC1 moves up to London, and it looks like the week after DC2 will be going to university. I am so happy that they have grown up confident in themselves, but..... Confused, crikey, bl**dy empty nester annonymous here!!

Ma have a brilliant time in London, do go to Covent Garden, is all very expensive, but lovely to look at, and Hampstead, if you get the chance. When are you back? (veiled thread to meet!).

Venus where are you, my poppet? Will PM you when I can confirm things.

I hope all of you are having good evenings, summer feels like it might be here, and I am going to have breakfast in the garden tomorrow! (on my own, probably).

Actually feeling like bl**dy rubbish at the mo, but fake it, till you make it, as they say!

Isindie You are going to hate me for this.. but, lucky old you, to have the DT's loving you so much that they wake every two hours to see you! It's awful at the time, but one of my friends once said to me that it is an incredible privilege to be the one that your child wants in the night..no didn't help me at the time, either Smile.
Anyway, have blahhed on a bit too long.
love to all.
