I suppose I just wondered how many people had really got the life they had intended?

i was supposed tob married to a French man and kivuing in Paris with an acadeic career at the Sorbodde and a few novels published whilst also bein a journalist specialising in pyschology

SherlockLGJ · 15/09/2005 18:32

Now if you had asked me, four years ago, when in the space of 6 months the following took place.

I had my worst fears confirmed I had a profoundly deaf husband.

Who was unemployed following September 11th 2001,and was struggling to get a job because he was deaf.

A new baby,

The news that I had a heart condition and the fact that that information meant I couldn't have any more babies the answer would have been a resounding

NO

So to quote my Nanna "everything passes, both good times and bad".

spidermama · 15/09/2005 18:37

I never had a game plan.
I'm in the mood for some fundamental changes as it goes.
I'll be forty soon so I'm no longer thinking, 'Oh, I can do those things later on in life'. There's not much later left really.

Jimjams · 15/09/2005 18:37

god no

logic · 15/09/2005 18:39

Yes I am content and happy with my life generally. I wanted and got a degree, a career, a lovely marriage and a family. I've never given myself goals like 'I must have a brand new Jag by the age of 30' like someone dh knows. I think that is a route to discontent. Things are tough right now with a new baby and a toddler but it will get easier. I don't have any particular plans for the future though.

SleepyJess · 15/09/2005 18:41

You think our resolute 'noooos' are to do with the SN thing tho JimJams? It's not something you ever envisage is it!! And I was even more foolish.. I think I thought somehow that because I had one with something wrong with him, I couldn't possibly have ANOTHER with something ELSE wrong! How wrong was I??!

KBear · 15/09/2005 18:41

I never knew what I wanted to do or be when I grew up, just happily married I guess with a family.

I did want my husband to kiss me in the kitchen when he came home from work while I was cooking dinner and my kids to go "yuuuuuuck - Daaaaaad" and run away - like it was when I was growing up . That happens.

Oh, and Pans People split before I got to join them.

stitch · 15/09/2005 18:41

what you mean that i was going to be tall and beautiful, graceful and elegant. smart, and a karate expert as well. oh, dont forget the superhero part.
id have men falling at my feet but iwould have eyes only for my significant other. we would have orgasmic sex on a regular basis.

yeah, i guess life has worked out the way i thought it would.

Nightynight · 15/09/2005 19:22

NO. Never planned on being divorced, for a start.

MarsLady · 15/09/2005 19:23

no... always imagined lots of cash and a huge house.

but I'm very happy with my life!

tabitha · 15/09/2005 19:37

Not me, I always thought I would be much richer and have a less hectic life.

motherinferior · 15/09/2005 19:47

I would have rather liked it if you'd told me at 20 that I would be a journalist and have two kids.

However, I would not have envisaged the time and the trials it took to get here, no way.
