Hello, I'm Mouse. Smile

Welcome to the Brave Babes Bus. You can get on at any point in the journey, there is plenty of room, it's free to ride and there is always someone who will be along to hold your hand over the speedbumps!

So, no matter where you are in your quest to quit the booze, join us for support, advice and a fair few laughs along the way Grin

There is no judging, no cliques, just real poster with real problems being real and honest!

Come and meet the others.....

Here is the previous thread where you can read all of the threads so far, including JWN's original thread and the reason we are all here.

For a roll in the hay

RedDevilMoomin · 05/11/2010 13:13

mouse it's as good a description as any for the moment Grin So FB it is from now on!

venusandgunpowder · 05/11/2010 13:15

mouse is the 2nd word 'buddy'? We might need a new limerick. Ruddy, muddy, fuddy-duddy...

Mousefawkes · 05/11/2010 13:16

Grin Red

'For a roll in the hey.....
But went for a Pizza instead'

Well, I would! Grin

RedDevilMoomin · 05/11/2010 13:32

Good work mouse and venus!

Posting on here today has made me feel so, so grateful to be back. All the usual reasons but also I can at least mention FB as there's no one I can talk to about it RL. So thank you brave babes x

DramaDramaDrama · 05/11/2010 13:51

Finished housework & gratefully taking my seat next to Mouse

I've been a bad mummy today as I have let little legs park her bum infront of the tv all day today - It's raining & I'm tired, not much else to say really.

ZanyWany · 05/11/2010 13:52

HI everyone.Have decided that after your talks about how long some of you have been without alcolhol that I am going to try and take it one day at a time and not have anything (possibly one) to drink tonight.

Am out with a friend and I am driving which is unheard of!!!!

Feeling a bit rough after last night (embarrasing as I have only just started to post on here - I give myself a smack) so thought I should give my body a break.

Wish me luck

RedDevilMoomin · 05/11/2010 13:54

Hi zany you are taking the perfect approach to staying off the booze. One day at a time is the only way forward. Don't even worry about tonight for now. Good luck!

desiretochange · 05/11/2010 14:12

So true Red, all we can do is take each minute, hour and day as it comes. Zany you will find your way through this, we are all here for you.
Loving the Limerick:)

RedDevilMoomin · 05/11/2010 14:14

The limerick was great desire . Really put a smile on my face.

Is it nearly home time yet?!

Mousefawkes · 05/11/2010 14:15

Red - You should know by now how the Brave Babes roll Grin You know that you, well any of us, can post on here about anything!

I personally think no matter how long you have been on the bus, all parts of our lives are affected by the booze to one degree or another.

And you should also know that you will never be judged!!

Zany - Good luck but you will be fine and you will enjoy your night much more if you can remember it for the right reason. Smile

Drama - I often let CBeebies do the parenting when I'm knackered!! One day is not going to do any harm!! It's raining here too! And grey and dark. Typical for bonfire night.

Sorry you're feeling rubbish. I love that you call your DC 'little legs'. That is so cute. Smile

RedDevilMoomin · 05/11/2010 14:43

Hmm, just typed a long post and lost it, argh! So annoying.

Basically was just saying that because I have been 'away' so much maybe I had forgotten just how non-judgemental and special the babes are!

MsGee · 05/11/2010 14:52

Drama I am online courtesy of Nick Jr... We often have TV days!! Love the little legs name too!

Red good to see you back today and well done on the leaving wine ... just take care of that heart of yours ok? Can I ask why people warned you off your man? (I can't call him FB!!)

Mouse I did sing and sign with DD for nearly 2 years which is based on Makaton. Its very very good. DD was not really verbal until she was 2 and then it all came out in a tumble and the signs helped enormously with her frustration. I found that 'more' and 'where' were the two most useful and daily used. I was astounded at how two or three signs could be used in so many ways.

Zany nice to see you back, well done for planning ahead and driving.

All good here, I have a kitchen floor once more which is nice. Two thumb injuries now healed but managed to injure my arm last night. (was sober for all honest). If i was suspicious, I would wonder if the previous (deceased) owner of our new house is a little miffed at the work I am having done!

Mousefawkes · 05/11/2010 14:59

MsGee - are you related to Frank Spencer by any chance? Grin

Glad you have a kitchen floor again! I have ordered a DVD of Makaton that Nemo's SALT recommended, Dave Benson Phillips of Playhouse Disney fame does Nursery Rhymes! She has just called me to say that I can start the course in January. Excited!!

I'm sure DH is going to be thrilled.

ABs have kicked in so I'm feeling shaky and sick. Just to accompany the toothache.

God I'm a moany arse today!! Grin

MsGee · 05/11/2010 15:04

Moan away Mouse

Start to use a few signs before the course - we found that helps. The more you use them, the quicker they pick it up - this website might help too - www.totalcommunication.org.uk/makaton-signing.html

Hope you don't feel too bad with the ABs. When did you start taking them? Did you change from others?

Not related to Frank Spencer, but very very unco-ordinated. I normally avoid accidents by moving very little though!!

Mousefawkes · 05/11/2010 15:11

MsGee - I started them yesterday. I have had them before - Metronidazol (SP?)- when I had the first tooth infection! They are heavy duty to try and kill it off.

Not sure if they clash with my ADs though? Will have a look at the side effcts.

I still look like bloody chipmunk!

Thank you for the website. I know some Makaton through watching Something Special with Nemo. It's much simpler than BSL!

No accents or punctuation!

Maybe you should get DH to move more stuff then! For Godsake, stay away from all things electrical and sharp! Grin

RedDevilMoomin · 05/11/2010 15:24

MsGee - FB was warned off me by people we know in common because of my well-documented craziness/ drink problem. Think he wasn't put off because he is that bit older. Not sure.

mouse I am so sorry that you are still suffering with your bloody tooth. It must be driving you demented.

MsGee · 05/11/2010 15:24

Sorry,I was mixing up AD and AB - worth checking re AD and AB are so tough on the system. Make sure you get lots of rest (I love it when docs say that ... you thnk HOW??)

Makaton - we started the course with eat, drink, milk, nappy, more and where (i think). DD also loved animal signs - dog, cat etc.

For some reason I also know the BSL for asthmatic snail if this ever crops up!

I meant moving my own arse, not boxes. Incidents are from: cutting a tomato, getting up off floor and just walking past a counter in the kitchen (and failing to miss it, scraping all skin off arm)... I couldn't have been less active!!

thursoback · 05/11/2010 15:33

oooh, you do sound lovely red.

I wish I was exciting enough for people to be warned off me :)

desiretochange · 05/11/2010 15:34

Know exactly what you mean Thurso:)

RedDevilMoomin · 05/11/2010 15:38

The thing is thurso and desire the person that did the warning is a married man who has cracked onto me several times in the past (both before and during my marriage) and I always knocked him back, funnily enough... So might have been a little bit of sour grapes. Christ I really sound like I am bigging myself up here and I'm not! It's not like I have to beat a path through men on my way to work or anything Smile

thursoback · 05/11/2010 15:41

Well, I've just had a lovely long chat with uni Dc about whether the student loan will run to skiing next year, or maybe travelling other side of the world next summer. I was very mumlike, and discussed all possibilities, came off the phone and thought "propping up the bl88dy loan is bleeding us dry!!

Dc seems to think that the tree's in the garden grow money, bit like the little pear tree.

My fault, my fault Blush

MsGee · 05/11/2010 15:41

Sorry Red, my mistake!!! You seem very upbeat, lovely to see.

I could do with a nap. Anyone want to watch humf with DD whilst I curl up on back seat?

thursoback · 05/11/2010 15:42

bl**dy and trees, excuse me !

thursoback · 05/11/2010 15:45

Aha, red I'm sure you do dtect the old Envy on the part of married man. Probably realises that he couldn't do the bed thing as well as FB!!
