Diabolik don't let it diminish what you have achieved so far - you have and ARE DOING brilliantly - we wouldn't be human if we didn't slip up sometimes Grin

Whizz and dipso now is the time to start planning alternatives for this evening - something interesting and absorbing to do - something to make you happy, a lovely treat to eat, and a determination not to make it easy to slip by ensuring you don't have any alcohol in the house. If you have to go to the shops today then try going without a credit card and with only enough cash to buy the milk / chicken / bread that you really need.

diabolik I cannot imagine how rough you feel after 8 pints (and never mind the coke). Even the thought of feeling that bad is helping to keep me from thinking that a drink is a good idea. So, you know how well you can do, and how good you feel when you're not drinking. And if you were in any doubt about feeling good - compare it to how you feel this morning. I wonder what you set out to do when you went for a drink yesterday, did you plan on getting wasted, or did were you thinking of perhaps a couple of pints?

diabolik · 03/11/2010 08:34

Whizz no worries .. I am not in the least offended by pillock lol I am used to a lot worse then that.

Venus - it started with me going cold turkey on cigarettes .. that went wrong and it went down hill from there .

jesuswhatnext · 03/11/2010 09:03

morning all!!

diabolik!, i wonder if you are trying to do to much at once?, perhaps you need to target the substance that worries you most?, i gave up smoking 12 years ago, i dont think i could have done the booze at the same time, btw and fwiw - my first marriage was a fairly wild affair, my husband was a hard core biker and we moved in very druggy circles - they wernt half fucking boring!!, i used to feel an inward groan as soon as i saw the amount of drugs about to be taken, it ALWAYS meant that the party got slow and boring - they all thought they were whizzing/high/having a good time YEAH! WHATEVER!!!, the only upside was that i got more booze!! so, im guess im trying to say - dont be druggy bore diabolik!!, you sound far to interesting for that!! Wink

jesuswhatnext · 03/11/2010 09:06

silver!! where are you taking us today?, i quite fancy a christmas market!!

dementedma · 03/11/2010 09:11

ah Diabolik - have a hug! From what I've been reading as a relatively new traveller, you are doing absolutely brilliantly. One swallow does not a summer make - or one slip up does not a failure make Grin
Hope you get through today ok.

Silver66 · 03/11/2010 09:20

Diabolik I was thinking the same as JWN - maybe concentrate on the alcohol and coke for now and keep smoking until you feel strong enough to stop - typical bloke may I say! Do everything in one hit Grin

JWN - I think today we shall go to the Christmas Markets in Prague - wrap up warm folks and bring your shopping trolleys on wheels Grin xxxx

Silver66 · 03/11/2010 09:29

And may I suggest Diabolik that you get your sorry arse down to the gym, have a swim and looooong sauna to sweat that shit out of your body - go home and have a nap and then you will feel a whole lot better Wink x

desiretochange · 03/11/2010 09:30

Silver, absolutely loving the idea of Christmas Markets in Prague:)

desiretochange · 03/11/2010 09:33

Diabolik echo what Silver says, get to sauna and get rid of all the toxins!

venusandgunpowder · 03/11/2010 09:33

Christmas market sounds good (although a little early in the season??). We have a great Christmas market in Edinburgh. I never go to buy anything, I wait until a few days before Christmas when all my presents are bought and wrapped and I just go to get the nice warm Christmassy feeling (it is free!)

Silver66 · 03/11/2010 09:34

Right Campers - off to work - be on later to see how everyone is doing Wink x

desiretochange · 03/11/2010 09:35

Think it's the Prague bit I was looking forward to Wink - was never a lover of Christmas Venus

ChristianaCatesby · 03/11/2010 09:45

There you are!

witchetychicky · 03/11/2010 09:47

Morning all - it's a glorious day here but I'm feeling a little blue Sad
I feel my mood dipping which is scarey after the last crash that I had...starting to drink as well - no binges, it's just the regularity is starting to creep back. So...back to basics for me - no booze in the house.

diabolik can you try to re-frame? See this as a good thing - what better way to be reminded of how serious bee-ating the booze and coke is and how dangerous complacency is, plus odf course the need to be realistic about what can be achieved - forget about the fags for now.

venus I love the winter festival in Edinburgh - like you I just love wandering around...though will need to avoid the gluevine (no idea how you spell it) this year.

I haven't got round to name changing yet..I think I will stay as a witch for the time being.

thursoback · 03/11/2010 09:48

Hey guys,

I went swimming today, and was pondering, about diabolik, I thought coke was good to drink for hangovers. Then realised I might have been bldy naive. If I'm right diabolik I should try and knock that that on the head before you kick the smokes. I have no experience, but, I don't think that it something you can do on your own, is it?

I am also trying not to be a smokechuffer, down the garden, in the dark!!, but think I might try and do one thing at a time, as suggested.

I had big old crash last night, felt really anxious and low, no wine tho. Woke up this morning after a night full of horrible dreams, and was incredibly spotty!! Ah well..
Day 6.

mouse so sorry to hear that Nemo might have to go to hospital. Mentioned you in my prayers last night. I don't go to church, but find that having a chat sort of clears my mind.

Do you have your own room, or can you look forward to one of those slimy plastic convertable chairs!?

Again, I hope I'm not intruding on you all, but you have all helped me so much, I'd like to stay on the bus.:)

witchetychicky · 03/11/2010 09:49

'bee-ating'? meant beating.

Mousefawkes · 03/11/2010 09:55

Morning Brave Babes and Hungover Bloke!

I read diabolik's 'a coke' as in the drink or am I being far to naive here??

Must have been something in the water last night..... I had two V&Ts last night.

Silver - Can we wait a week or so before we go to the Christmas markets please, I have no idea who wants what yet!! Grin

Ma - you sound SO positive in your posts, you are a different person to last week. Smile

Where are all our Babes?

Today we have the sparks back but no builders. However, we still have a GIANT hole in our drivway from yesterday where the lovely people at the water board decided it would look best. I may plant a tree in it Hmm

According to some villagers, we are single handedly bringing the village to a holt with all the work we're having done. Grin

Anyway, it's the dentist for me today. THANK GOD!!!!! I was up rumaging for pain killers most of the night. And Nemo had a shocking night too so no sleep for me.

loopylou6 · 03/11/2010 10:04

Deffo naive Mousey Wink

Mousefawkes · 03/11/2010 10:04

Hello thurso

Thank you my lovely for your very kind thoughts. The local children's ward has cots in a cubicle type room for little ones, and a horrid convertable chair that you speak of.

However, now he is 18m, they may move him to a bed in one of the bays.

Either way, I have to sleep on a camp bed because of my disablilty. They are used to me there so whenever we go, my bed is usually set up for me!!

And the staff are great because it's such a small ward.

BCH (Birmingham Children's Hospital) is a totally different picture. Not only is it 2 hours away from us but it is awful. So busy, no staff, no beds, no towels, bed linen, drinking water..... I hate him going there. He always ends up in PICU due to his conditions, which means I have nowhere to sleep.

The last time he was in, I had to sleep in the tv room on a sofa. Which is no good for my pelvis.

God, sorry, I'm waffling!!

thurso - I think you are doing so well. You are really getting the hang of what drink does to you, to your life, to your friends and family. Your outlook has changed.

You have come a long way since last week when I thought I'd scared you off!!

I am really glad that I didn't xx

Mousefawkes · 03/11/2010 10:05

loopy - cheeky!! Grin

I'm waiting for diabolik to clear that up if you don't mind. I think he drank a coke, not snorted coke.

diabolik · 03/11/2010 10:08

hmm sorry to dissapoint but i had the white stuff

venusandgunpowder · 03/11/2010 10:10

mouse please keep off the vodka - you've done so well, and it sounds like you've managed OK with the occasional beer or single glass of wine. But V&T used to be your habit. Keep well away.

Thurso I think on this thread you can intrude all you like. Whatever helps you, you just do it. If it helps you to keep quiet then that's OK, if it helps you to shout and rant, then that's OK, if it helps to ask nosy questions about how old people are, their gender, their sex lives, their former drinking habits, their shameful escapades, then that is all OK too - and then it is up to each of us how much we disclose in response. (not in the least suggesting that YOU have asked nosy questions - that probably applies more to me...)
