Don't know what to do

I'm sitting here with a black eye and a gin and tonic.

Last night we fought. He turned the electricity off so I pulled his hair. He responded.

I can't bring myself to end it as I'm terrified of being alone. I'm dreading the questions at work on Monday.

I'm not asking for sympathy, this mess is my fault. I'm the bad guy here. How to I cope?

You pulled his hair. He punched you (I assume). Hair pulling not good but not comparable to a punch IMO.
How are things with him today?

Tortington · 16/10/2010 13:03

your the bad guy cos a man punched you in the face?

how do you work that one out?

phipps · 16/10/2010 13:04

Cope with what? You were both in the wrong. Are you both able to apologise and promise it won't happen again?

If you leave him it doesn't have to mean you will be alone. You just have the opportunity to meet someone who won't abuse you.

Tortington · 16/10/2010 13:05

were you both drinking?

why was the elctricity turned off?

wearingaway · 16/10/2010 13:05

I deserved it, that's how.

He still loves me, he's never done it before. He's out with a friend but due back in an hour. I'm knackered.

OP posts:
wearingaway · 16/10/2010 13:06

He turned it off to spite me in the middle of an argument. Not very important in the grand scheme of things. I'm an idiot.

OP posts:
Tortington · 16/10/2010 13:07

you deserved being punched in the face?

i just can't see a scenario where someone deserves being punched in the face.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 16/10/2010 13:08

agree with custy
sounds like you should both go to anger management, but NO youm did not deserve it

wearingaway · 16/10/2010 13:09

He already does.

How do I cope now? He's brining friends over soon and I just want to hide. House is a mess.

OP posts:
Tortington · 16/10/2010 13:10

leave the house a mess and face his friends with your black eye.

phipps · 16/10/2010 13:10

What HMC said.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 16/10/2010 13:12

already does what? Go to anger management? Tell him he needs to repeat a year.
TBH though you sound like you have full on arguments - is that usual? In my worst arguments with DH we have yet to pull hair or turn off electricity.

wearingaway · 16/10/2010 13:12

That's terrifying me.

OP posts:
wearingaway · 16/10/2010 13:12

Yes, he's already getting counselling.

elmofang · 16/10/2010 13:13

I agree with custardo - let him explain to his friends about why you have a black eye .

wearingaway · 16/10/2010 13:14

So I have to face ritual humiliation too? Suppose it's fair.

OP posts:
elmofang · 16/10/2010 13:17

No - If his friends ask you what happened to your eye then just tell them to ask your (D)p/h . He should be the one feeling Humiliated IMO .

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 16/10/2010 13:18

or greet them then go out before questions start

wearingaway · 16/10/2010 13:25

don't want to go out and be stared at. Just going to have to grin and bare it. Almost wish he'd finished the job.

OP posts:
SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 16/10/2010 13:26

If you want to go out you could wear sunglasses if that would make YOU feel less stressed

phipps · 16/10/2010 13:26

Stop this.

You can put make up to cover it, wear sunglasses. You shouldn't hide away. You should tell your H not to bring the friends back as you need to talk.

phipps · 16/10/2010 13:27

Have you got children?

wearingaway · 16/10/2010 13:35

Oh well, he's come home a brought me some ice for my eye. I'm hiding in the bedroom for the day. How does it get to this?

OP posts:
elmofang · 16/10/2010 14:10

Is this the first time you have both been violent in an argument ? If so then maybe you could go to relate , but if this is a regular occurrence then maybe you should leave him .

wearingaway · 16/10/2010 14:21

No, it's not the first time. Maybe the third of fourth in around three years. Twice in the last month though.

We were supposed to be TTC. Hahahaha.
