...if you liked these shows please tell me what else you listen to, 'cos together they constitued pretty much my entire non-R4-based listening and I'm feeling bereft.

I feel your pain
i cannot believe Adam and Joe are gone. at least I've got their 12 christmas podcast to listen to.

they said they were going to put out podcasts of their earlier shows too.

i can't stand anything else on 6 music.

i too am bereft.

holidaywonk · 29/12/2009 12:29

It's a bummer isn't it

Bloody Joe Cornish, why'd he have to build up a stellar career in Hollywood

OP posts:
jooseyfruit · 29/12/2009 12:32

oh, is that why. is he acting or doing other film-y things?

i heart joe, in fact i heart both of them, and they are both on my shag list.

holidaywonk · 29/12/2009 12:41

Apparently he worked on the screenplay for the new Spielberg film and now he's going to direct something, I guess in the States.

I heart them both too. Not sure about the shagging mind.

I didn't know this (although I listen to Adam and Joe all the time, but haven't for the past fortnight)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'm going to chuck my DAB radio in the bin now. there is nothing else I listen to.

holidaywonk · 29/12/2009 12:54

Sorry Molly, that wasn't a very kind way to break the news was it. Would you like a strong cup of sugary tea?

OP posts:
LastOfTheMulledWine · 29/12/2009 12:56

Isn't Mayo going to R2?

TheMollyRogerAndTheIvy · 29/12/2009 12:57

yes please.

holidaywonk · 29/12/2009 13:27

Mulled - yes he is but I don't really like his taste in music, and doubt the new show will have as much news/politics content. Will have to give it a shot though.

Oh, bloody hell, this is the only reason I bothered to get a digital radio. Oh, and Sean Keaveney (sp?)

holidaywonk · 29/12/2009 13:33

Just coming!

Sean Keaveneaghaughy you say? Will give it a shot.

As Joosey says, there are loads of A&J podcasts up atm - would be worth getting into the pod scene if you aren't already.

Anyone else listen to Herrin and Collings?
Or AIOToMA??

seeker · 29/12/2009 13:38

AIOtoMA!!

holidaywonk · 29/12/2009 13:41

I tried H+C once and it was two hours of Herring being an irritating egomaniac. Maybe I caught a bad one though.

OP posts:
peachygirl · 29/12/2009 13:44

He can be like that, but you have to 'get' that it is a persona he uses in the podcast. It took me a while to 'get' it and sometimes it still irratates me.

We have seen him live a few times.. and with Stewart Lee a long time ago.

seeker · 29/12/2009 13:47

I laughed a lot the first couple of times I listened, but after about 3 they got very same-y. HAve you tried Helen and Olly Answer Me This? Very Oxbridge and "in" but quite funny. And The John Richardson podcast's worth a listen.

holidaywonk · 29/12/2009 13:52

OK I'm adding all of these to the 'listen' list, thanks

I am gutted about Adam and Joe (and Joe is definitely on my would-do list). Their podcast is the only thing that got me out running sometimes! Is it sad that I walk around the house singing the "retro text the nation" jingle to myself?

holidaywonk · 29/12/2009 14:31

No, no, that's not sad. I know all the words to Adam's 'Nutty Man' song; that's sad. BTW there is a top Song Wars about Boggins on the pre-Xmas show.

OP posts:
badgermonkey · 29/12/2009 14:36

Noooooo, not Boggins! DH does the voice just to annoy me.

I like AIOtM (AIOtM!) too but it got a bit much after a few. There were some brilliant bits though- I liked the Quantum Leap stuff.

holidaywonk · 29/12/2009 14:39

OK I give in, what is AIOtM or however you're capitalising it?

OP posts:
badgermonkey · 29/12/2009 14:57

As It Occurs To Me - a Richard Herring podcast. Basically a series of 10 stand up shows that were written in a week, based on the weeks events, and totally unedited (the running joke is that they have one sound effect). They are funny but by their very nature, a bit patchy. My second- favourite podcast after A&J though.

I sometimes listen to Dave Gorman from Absolute Radio but it's nowhere near as good.

holidaywonk · 29/12/2009 15:27

Thanks, that sounds interesting.

shaun keaveney is pretty good, he raise a chuckle or two, and he was talking about BLW-ing his son a while back so I reckon he or dw are mners!

weeps, sniffles.
