Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love to spend time with Martyn Gibson, or other unusual views.

Spoilers: not on this thread, please! In some haste as we are going out for the day. I was asked weeks ago to put I've Killed the Vicar in as the new title but I agree with more recent comments that Peggy's funeral feels like old news now. Great line, though. Sorry not to have used Markie Malarkey, though. I've settled on something that will only make sense to people who were also youngish in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Here's a clue. If a certain person appears in tomorrow's episode the title will be relevant.

Very much looking forward to the incorporation of a new member into the Grundy family! (Assuming it actually happens.)

On the Amber topic, I think she is going to turn out to have been older than Brad and George, but not a staff member at school - probably in the 6th form when they were in Y7.

I suspect she's going to get pregnant within days of George leaving prison, then there's going to be a long painful SL when she keeps his baybee from him and his incel tendencies get thoroughly entrenched.

But why would she keep the baby from George? And how, given that the infant will be an instagram superstar before it’s a week old?

It’s rare for me to praise the SWs for anything these days (and they are mostly writing rubbish atm) but I do like the way Amber’s SM life blends seamlessly, thematically, with George’s pre-incarceration SM activity.

thinking about it - dross seems to be a word that has dropped out of fashion

Although if you really wanted to be cryptic, you could have entitled the thread “The Archers” because nobody would ever guess it from listening at the moment!

I was smirking when Amber said about where they were going to live, and George was saying "yeah you with your influencing and me with my wicker coffins." What bliss.

I can't see Amber's parents being overjoyed with their daughter shacking up in their granny flat with a convicted criminal. Especially with all that willow knocking around.

Well … I was half right when I said they’d move into a hastily built shed at the bottom of George’s dad’s garden.

(But maybe that’s where they’ll end up if her parents turn hostile?)

I wonder what the current listening figures for TAs are, and how have they changed over the last year or so? I suspect they've lost listeners. I wonder if they ever ask why listeners stop listening or do they just assume they need to sensationalise to try and get listeners back?

I listen only sporadically these days and even DH who was a bigger fan than me, can't be bothered anymore. I felt a sort of relief this morning when I realised the Tour de France coverage was starting at 11am on ITV4 and that meant TA wouldn't be on in the kitchen while I was fiddling about in there.

(At the start I was half-hoping a passer-by/ex-school pupil might run into her and gasp 'oh Miss Smedley, I didn’t recognise you without your horn-rimmed specs, perm and twin-set'. But sadly that’s unlikely to be the direction of the SL).

I struggled and failed to find any sympathy for Lilian.
