It’s Ramadan and the newly ‘woke’ Lynda is keen to be involved with the Maliks’ plans - but there’s a surprise for the family. Meanwhile, Zainab causes ructions over the Tearoom’s pancake eating competition. Joy and Mick try to make the most of their situation but are hampered by the actions of others. Tracy’s date night with Jazzer flounders, and there’s tension at Bridge Farm.

Total TV Guide
With the stench of human effluence gradually subsiding from Ambridge, it’s a big week for the Maliks as Ramadan begins and the ever-hospitable Lynda is keen to show her support. However, there’s tension in the Tearoom over the pancake-eating competition as battle lines are drawn. Joy and Mick are put in an uncomfortable situation when other villagers innocently rake over some unwelcome embers from their past, while at the Horrobins, Tracy hopes to light fires of her own on a date night with Jazzer. But unfortunately for her, his plans don’t involve romance… Plus, Pat has big ideas for change at Bridge Farm, but can the rest of the family be persuaded to come on board?

I see that we have no real respite from the Maliks during Ramadan.

I wonder why they are wheeling out Martyn Gibson later this month (was it Damara or Borchester land that developed Beechwood; I thought it was the former?).

Bruisername · 04/03/2025 14:17

So George is offered a move to the juniors prison but declines? That odd scene with the MP must have been about more than getting Ed and Emma work

FondantFancyAnyone · 04/03/2025 14:55

@Madcats , and it's only the 4th day of the month.Sad Shall I give up TA for Lent?

Madcats · 04/03/2025 19:56

@FondantFancyAnyone I'm not going to be around much this month to listen in a timely manner, but could happily sit on a "No Archers for Lent" thread, inventing storylines on the basis of these cast lists. I feel that quite a few of the cast might flee Ambridge, never to return.

FondantFancyAnyone · 04/03/2025 20:25

I'll still be listening no doubt. Go on @Madcats , let's hear them. Smile

noodlezoodle · 04/03/2025 21:41

"The bell tolls for more than one resident..." That sounds ominous! Are they going to kill someone off, or is this going to be one of their typical cryptic summaries that turns out to be a bellringing storyline or something similarly anodyne?

TottersBlankly · 04/03/2025 21:57

Who knows?

The Laurels is packed to the rafters - no one’s heard a peep out of Christine in yonks.

Bert Horrobin might want to join his wife in her place of rest - then Tracy could take in a lodger.

Jill and Peggy … well … 🤷‍♀️

The Fairfather might succumb to his heart, boosting his sons’ financial futures. Maybe Rex could buy a house, and a patch of land to call his own. Rosie could be whisked away to a life of luxury in the south of France. (Oh. No. Scrub that. She’s all that stands between our ears and the interminable boredom of Pip n Stella in one household …)

With all that waiting to be dealt with, the SWs would be very wrong to tease us with a Sunday morning hobby.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary March 9th-14th
Freddie hosts a meat and greet as the abattoir tries to win over locals. He also spots a potential cricketer to bolster Ambridge's team, but has he been bowled a googly? Brad faces the wrath of Eddie when he puts his foot down about Grundy Snr's "genius" concept. Khalil and Henry's plan to join the protest against Borsetshire Water leads to an awkward aftermath.

Total TV Guide March 9th-14th
Freddie’s hosting skills are put to the test when the abattoir provides the venue for the launch of the new initiative he’s pitching to the farmers. And talking of pitches, he isn’t bowled over by a potential new cricketer either. Meanwhile, it’s a testing week for Brad when Eddie is not best pleased that another of his ‘genius’ schemes has fallen flat. Could a prison visit to his cousin George furnish Brad with some answers? Plus, with the stench of Sewagegate still lingering, Pat and Emma take centre stage at their protest against Borchester Water, while Khalil and Henry’s plan to secretly join in proves problematic. The Tearoom is at long last able to reopen, but Helen soon realises that there could be more trouble brewing…

Sounds like mr Malik is a rubbish cricketer and we might actually get the full Joy story

given the hyperbole they tend to use I’m going to guess Helen’s dilemma is about whether or not to move in with her parents

FondantFancyAnyone · 09/03/2025 19:17

Sounds promising. Maybe Helen will buy the Beechwood house.
Thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g .

Madcats · 10/03/2025 13:40

There is/was an article in Metro saying the "Harrison" is going to be a scaffolder called Theo in Corrie.

It referred to his Archers' days in the past tense, so presumably he is going to be deaded on his top secret police assignment.

yay!

FondantFancyAnyone · 10/03/2025 14:27

I like 'Arrison but not the lines he was given. Didn't 'Helen' and 'Lee' go to Corrie?

FondantFancyAnyone · 10/03/2025 14:43

If Sgt Burns is out of the picture, that leaves Fallon ... haven't we had a bit of signposting about some rapport between her and Ed?

if only Brad could be a bit more Zainab. I like the Maliks. Not sure of Akram yet but the others seem OK.

We were discussing fasting in a meeting today, and my TA listening was useful - I said that those fasting didn't eat or drink during the fast. Someone insisted that water was allowed. Smile

Madcats · 10/03/2025 15:39

There is a clip in this article; I prefer his "Todd" voice:
https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/10/coronation-street-fans-recognise-todds-new-boyfriend-iconic-00s-role-22698459/

Thanks @Madcats , I'd forgotten that 'Gavin' was Todd. Grin

TherapistInATabard · 11/03/2025 07:28

On Friday - Helen comes to a terrible realisation

Will this be related to her meeting with the accountant?

Bruisername · 11/03/2025 07:52

Or a spark of self awareness?

FondantFancyAnyone · 11/03/2025 09:49

Maybe she'll discover that she will be sharing Bridge Farm with Tom'n'Tash and The Girls, while Mianed will have made an offer on Kirsty's house and had it accepted.

Bet Bridge Farm house only has one bathroom and a downstairs loo, so chaos will ensue. (Clutches pearls MN-style at the thought of having to share a bathroom)

Not sure how big Kathy's house is but isn't it a semi, & attached to the house the Grundys used to live in, so presumably 3 bedrooms.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 11/03/2025 12:02

When she was pregnant and living at Bridge Farm temporarily, Natasha made a strong bid to take over all the bathroom space and consign Pat's belongings to an obscure cupboard kindly bought for his mother by Tom, so yes, I think there is only one bathroom.

FondantFancyAnyone · 11/03/2025 12:18

That's how i remember it too, @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime .
4 people sharing sounds quite tricky, but 5 adults, a teenager, a boy and two toddlers sounds a nightmare.

(I remember living in a shared house and there were 5 of us and one bathroom and it wasn't an issue but we were students, and we didn't have Natasha and Helen in the mixSmile)

FiveShelties · 12/03/2025 08:50

Bruisername · 11/03/2025 07:52

Or a spark of self awareness?

Surely not.😀

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/03/2025 17:09

I think they are terminally confused about who works where at Bridge Farm.

Next week's spoilers include (Radio Times Ambridge Diary 16th – 21st March 2025) "Clarrie and Susan face an uncertain future at the Tearoom" and (Total TV Guide 16th – 21st March 2025) "With the Tearoom losing custom, Clarrie and Susan are also feeling put upon". Those two don't work in the tea room, or even Te Rum, as far as I know?
