Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd have liked to have Harrison's behbe, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Thanks to @LikeTalkingToLassie and @BrightYellowDaffodil for title inspiration. Is this the end for Denise and John? It does seem odd to introduce John now if he's going to disappear. He has a lovely voice.

Over to you!

Maybe we'll be introduced to a distant relative of Jazzer, a Mars Barr.

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g , we're on Page 40 and the thread is filling fast. Hint hint. Wink

Thanks, @PedantScorner, how time flies when you're enjoying yourself! Just caught up with last night's abysmal offering. Have we reached the nadir, do we think? Hard to believe there are more depths to plumb.

Perhaps more unusual when Denise married? I can’t say I have much curiosity about the family and I really hope the daughter isn’t going to be introduced as well.

I assume Denise is younger than me as she is still working and I am pushing 70. I know plenty of women my age who kept their own names.

DeanElderberry · 01/08/2024 12:39

Denise probably married in the mid 1990s at the earliest. In Ireland, at any rate, most women were keeping their own names by then.

Gonners · 01/08/2024 13:02

I have an 83-year-old neighbour who still uses her maiden name. I'm 10 years younger but would have done the same, had I ever felt the desire to be married.

Thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g . We've come a long way since vinegar-ette and vi-carious.

Regarding a comment made many pages ago about Natasha's accent/voice. Jason Hughes is in a play now, and he's another one with a pleasant Welsh voice and accent.

Give the loo a scrub with his toothbrush before he goes! What a dick.

Oh, please don’t do that.
I know someone who had it happen to them; they had an allergic (presumably) reaction and it was horrendous.
