Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you believe Rochelle exists, or other unusual views.

Was the storyline about them break in at the Bull ever resolved? What happened with the horrible man who was threatening Jolene?

We are to understand that it might be a "slow burner" storyline. Or else that the post-it note with the details on it has fallen down behind the back of the fridge, of course...

Ambridge is in serious need of some new characters.

I think Rhuari is genuinely there to help Alice by being her drinking buddy, someone on her side who can help her try to regain some self-control with drink rather than self-distruct alone.
I know nothing about alcoholism so don't know if that method would work.

Learning how to drink in moderation has worked for several people I have known. The quasi-religious "sniff a cork once and you're totally dependent again" attitude is not the only way to go, it's just the one with the best publicity.

What does Dan(iel) do these days, so very silently and curiously unmentioned even by Alistair, who raised him? I know he joined the army, I think as an officer. If he still in, I vaguely wonder? He'll be 30 this year, so will presumably be a Major by now, unless the scriptwriters decide to make him a General. 😉

I've refrained from commenting on the "baby" storyline up to now because (said in a whisper) even though I'm female, I feel sorry for Harrison.

They’re really laying it on with the hero worship. I think it’s clear George isn’t a psychopath. He’s just a misguided youth who, like his forefathers, has a tendency to make the wrong choices.

and the whole ‘woman you love’ - just bloody get on with the SL. Ordnance survey map🙄. Oh what a tangled web we weave, and all that.

She was all emotional around him and knows he had a crush on her at Christmas! Edited to add: or maybe he'll confess to her

I think him confessing to her is more likely

I agree that George might confess to Fallon.

I think Kirsty is around so she can update us about Roy and set things up for him moving to be with Lexie or vice versa.

Yes agreed @EmilyDickinson I suspect that rather than another main character death, they're going to ship Roy off to try for true love with Lexie.

I can’t remember where Lexie lives. How easy would this be for Roy to do?

It’s interesting I think that twice in short succession Fallon was show expressing concern for a child (Martha) and a young adult (George). Is this significant?

Is it just a distraction from her own trauma and worries about her relationship to be thinking of others?

Is it to show that though she doesn’t want her own children she cares about children and young people and is a kind and empathetic person?

Could the storyline be moving towards some kind of compromise for her and Harrison where they foster or similar?

I doubt fostering would be enough for Harrison. He wants his own baby.

George will confess. I’m not sure he could bear to tell Fallon the truth though. Maybe Brad? He doesn’t really have any other friends.

Alternatively Alice might start to remember and slowly piece everything together…

I think all the OS map and planning a fake location for that sheep is what will bring George down.
they’ll accidentally choose the layby the Alice was drinking in, and all the pieces will come together that the story of the night isn’t true.

It’s had plenty of new characters! Denise, Paul, Joy, Adil, Adil’s sister, Mick, Stella, captain of the cricket team, Harrison’s boss, Brad, Chelsea
Slightly less new, Rex, Toby,Natasha, Vince, Beth
Newly graduated, Ben, Henry, George, Mia, Tracey

I like that a lot.
And it will be far more satisfying if George is found out than if he confesses, in that it will probably go worse for him, sentence-wise.
