RT Ambridge Diary 8-13 December
Vicar Alan finds himself with a dilemma and some difficult news to impart - but will his good intentions lead to a bad outcome ? Plans for Pat and Tony’s surprise golden anniversary celebration take shape. Natasha offers a friend some tough love, while David makes a confession about a family member and disaster strikes for another member of the Archers. An old face returns, but what have they come back for? [There's no hint of who this old face is from the cast list.]

Total TV Guide 7-13 Dec
Ooh-er, vicar! Being forced to be the bearer of bad news gets Alan hot under the dog collar this week. Will his parishioners remember to show him forbearance and Christian charity? Over at Bridge Farm, a whirl of activity must happen under wraps for Pat and Tony’s surprise Golden Wedding anniversary celebration. However, not much gets past Pat. At the party, Mick finds himself spread rather too thinly and there’s romance afoot in a surprising quarter. Elsewhere, Natasha has a controversial concept up her sleeve, a shock confession from David is overshadowed when disaster strikes for another family member, and there’s another bombshell in store for Ambridge when a blast from the past returns…

19.12 Will Eddie wave the white flag? And life becomes complicated for Helen.

Too much Sarah McDonald Hughes this year.

Madcats · 09/12/2024 11:11

I don't think I can justify spending £5.95 for the Christmas Radio Times, out now according to Ocado. Have the powers that be mentioned a Christmas Eve/Day Special?

I discovered the most marvellous wheeze a while ago. If you have a digital library card you can get free access to Radio Times via Libby. If you subscribe it just gets delivered automatically to you every week so when you open up the Libby app, there it is. I think it’s the one thing that’s actually given me the most joy this whole year (yep, I know. Sad but true).

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/12/2024 17:04

I understand that the Christmas RT comes out tomorrow, so I will keep an eye on Mustardland to see if some kind soul posts anything TA-related they find in there.

A late update for this week:
Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update - December 8th-13th
Romance is in the air at Pat and Tony's golden wedding party. Alan is in a quandary and has some difficult news to impart, and a blast from the past returns to Ambridge.

Thanks for the tip, Ambridge! My library switched to BorrowBox, but I can see that the XMAS edition ought to be available tomorrow or shortly thereafter.

Wilma55 · 09/12/2024 18:11

Great tip, just subscribed!

FizzingAda · 09/12/2024 18:24

Thanks Ambridge, just subscribed!

Madcats · 10/12/2024 10:13

Radio Times is lengthy, with no index, but it looks as if we have been saved from an Archers Special (though I am a little concerned that "Alan has secured a major music act for the St Stephens Christmas Eve Service, prompting Eddie to start scalping the in-demand tickets").

Bruisername · 10/12/2024 10:23

Coldplay?

Gonners · 10/12/2024 10:35

Wynne Evans may have some time on his hands. Perhaps he could sing and then dance in the aisle with Sabrina Thwaite.

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/12/2024 10:55

Maybe he's got this

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/12/2024 11:30

or Richard Coles

Gonners · 10/12/2024 11:42

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/12/2024 11:30

Oh, the horror! Wash your mouth out with soap and water, young lady!

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/12/2024 13:14

Thank you. I'm now feeling youthful. I'm young enough to remember The Communards.

We've had Toyah and The Pet Shop Boys. Did we have the Military Wives?

Romance in the air will be Henwee and Keyura. Mummy will be pleased.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/12/2024 14:28

Interesting. I didn’t mind home front but felt it got a bit soapy

feeling a bit meh about it tbh

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/12/2024 14:57

It went on a bit too long.
The musical act will be the band that Josh had his eye on one of the members.
Oh yuk, Paul. Must we have to listen to him? At least Denistare aren't in the cast list.
Why so many new(ish) characters?

Madcats · 10/12/2024 15:24

Phil Jupitas is listed as a fan on here:

www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2010/12_december/10/archers5.shtml#:~:text=2.,Bruce%20and%20Sir%20Ian%20McKellen.

Or perhaps they are going to have an AI version of Cilla Black?

Toyah has been on a couple of times and was booted off Strictly quite early? I remember her odd videos with Robert Fripp during lockdown.

Kylie, Coldplay and Paul McCartney have form for doing small pub gigs down here (so might be up for it).

Bruisername · 10/12/2024 15:30

Coldplay seem to play at anything g and everything

Gonners · 10/12/2024 15:49

I very much hope it's the massed bands of Grenadier, Coldstream, Welsh, Scots and Irish guards. That should see off any remaining stained glass windows.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/12/2024 13:22

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 15-20 December
Kirsty finds the house sale increasingly complicated. Could a surprise visitor offer her a way out? Emma and Ed struggle to face reality, and with tensions high in the family the matter of Christmas lunch could prove the breaking point. Leonard is desperate to earn his keep at Brookfield, Brad finds the pressure on him increasing, Susan makes a suggestion that may not have the desired effect and one resident makes an enemy - but is the feeling mutual?

Might they have done as they sometimes used to and lumped the credits for Christmas week in with the ones for the other week in the bumper Radio Times over Christmas?

TottersBlankly · 15/12/2024 13:53

Stellar effort, @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g. Thank you.
