Spoilers thread for The Archers. All Archers listeners are welcome here, whether you post on our main Archers thread or not. There's just one rule: please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers thread.

We usually add the BBC teasers and cast lists for forthcoming episodes as they
become available, plus the Radio Times and Daily Mail previews when possible.
Feel free to add anything else you come across, e.g. cast news, scriptwriter
tweets!

I daresay Clive will be needed to confirm to Ed that Emma really wanted things out in the open but she and Will were stymied by Clive’s blackmail.

Ed is going to go ballistic either way. Emma will probably be spending some time in her old bedroom at Ambridge View …

Eastie77Returns · 04/09/2024 16:12

The reputational damage to EdnEm will damage their fledging business and Will will lose his investment. It's all going to literally come crashing down around them now!

...and Emma will probably struggle for alternative employment if she falls out with Fallon (I imagine it's a possible/likely consequence).

Bruisername · 04/09/2024 17:27

Meh, they just need to change the business name and widen their geographical area. I honestly don’t think anyone outside the village would really care tbh

MsCheeryble · 04/09/2024 22:59

Maybe the silver lining for Brian is not having to pay out all those humungous legal fees for Alice.

TottersBlankly · 05/09/2024 19:46

Looking at three weeks of teasers - I’m guessing the Bridge Farm Archers will sack not just George (obviously) but also Will.

And Emma … Even if she stays out of clink there’s no way she’ll keep her Tea Room job. The Archers will close ranks. No more tree surgery work for Borchester Land. No anything for her or Ed on any Archer land or property.

Which leads me on to Ed’s ‘monumental’ step. I thought at first he might demand a divorce - but I wonder if he might say he and Emma need to leave Ambridge. That might be the significance of their new tree surgery venture - they now have a portable trade - so are no longer tied to the vlllage for work. Could it be??

Gonners · 05/09/2024 20:26

Are Ed'n'Em still in the non-mobile home? I think it's a static caravan, but am probably wrong. If it were a proper caravan, they could steal Bartleby and go on the road, Mr Toad-style, as itinerant tree surgeons.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/09/2024 20:34

Or they could just take Gem, who as far as we know still lives in the field vacated by Bartleby.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 05/09/2024 20:35

but I wonder if he might say he and Emma need to leave Ambridge.

I think so. Although it might depend on Alice's reaction. Alice might be magnanimous or vindictive.

I'll pull all spoilers together as usual at some point between Friday evening and Sunday evening, but for now, hot off the press (and don't forget Bore's Radio Times spoiler above):

Shamelessly copied from Mustardland: Total TV Guide
Ambridge is in meltdown this week when secrets come bobbing to the surface (at last!) and change the lives of some of the villagers forever. The Aldridges are up in arms, Alice is left reeling, and Brian is a patriarch with vengeance on his mind. Emma, Will and George face the consequences of their actions - are they now officially the least popular family in Borsetshire, or will anyone show forgiveness? As the news spreads, Harrison finds himself in a challenging situation. Could things possibly get any worse? Well, since you ask…In less incendiary news, Jazzer stumbles upon a secret someone was hoping to keep quiet. Will the wily Scot be able to use the situation for his own gain?

22.9 Eddie may be fighting a losing battle, and there’s sabotage afoot at the Flower and Produce Show.
23.9 Kenton offers support to a loved one, and Oliver struggles to find the right words.
24.9 Opportunity knocks for Fallon, and Lynda lines up the suspects.
25.9 Tony puts his foot down, and George is struggling with recent events.
26.9 There’s a breakthrough for Jim, while Pat makes a controversial decision.
27.9 One resident makes an emotional confession, and Ed attempts to hold everything together.

So Ed is still in Ambridge three weeks from now. Interesting that Usha makes a rare speaking appearance. No sign of Alan, so I'm guessing she will be dispensing legal advice.

If that is the case, George will be sent down, and whoever else she is representing (Will? Emma? Ed?) will be lucky to escape a prison sentence. As with Freddie.

WhoppingBigBackside · 06/09/2024 14:53

Ed's not been involved.

Gonners · 06/09/2024 15:12

I hope you're not suggesting that Usha won't get him sent down anyway!

WhoppingBigBackside · 06/09/2024 15:49

It's almost a given that 'Arrison will lose his job.

Madcats · 06/09/2024 16:53

Dare we hope for the return of Anna Tregorran? I liked her.

There was a piece in the papers about Estonia offering to house our surplus prisoners (estimated cost £10-£20k per prisoner there versus £50k per prisoner here). Bon voyage, George!

Was Harrison on duty on the night of the crash?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 06/09/2024 17:08

Harrison was not on duty on the night of the crash, and had nothing to do with the case at that time. Then he had a breakdown when he discovered about Fallon's miscarriage, and took scads of compassionate leave, and then he was taken off duty again by his inspector when he went back for his first day after his leave and started raving about his baby having been murdered. I don't think he would be allowed anywhere near that case at this point anyway, since his wife was one of the parties involved in it, even if he hadn't been so blatantly biased against Alice.

TottersBlankly · 06/09/2024 17:26

Bon voyage, George!

Well, I don’t think he’s travelled much …

Courgettesareready · 06/09/2024 19:23

Well that was quite the episode

Gonners · 06/09/2024 19:38

That was quite fun, though I thought Ed went over the top in a very odd way. Still, perhaps he can get shot of Emmurr now and perhaps team up with the cricket woman whose name escapes me. I bet she has a house!

WhoppingBigBackside · 07/09/2024 12:41

Laura

BrightYellowDaffodil · 07/09/2024 16:09

I thought she was interested in Alistair? In a choice between a vet with functioning intelligence and social skills, and a trainee tree surgeon who only stands up straight because he’s got a chip on both shoulders, I know which one I’d choose…

Eastie77Returns · 08/09/2024 00:18

I am hoping Laura takes up with John. Denise will be furious.
