More pressure for George as his lies escalate - when Emma puts her foot in it, he has to race to save his own skin. Meanwhile, Alice tries to better recall the crash and learn the truth before it's too late. Paul meets a new man on a night out, but it looks as if his attempt to block out his pain may backfire. Lynda spots a golden opportunity and there's a life-or-death emergency at Brookfield.

I hope Kieron [sic] isn't Paul's new young man, or at least that if he is they make him definitely not Irish. I'm fed up of Ambridgers being led into unsuitable dalliance by hibernians (those Declans!) and have been living in hope that Etienne wasn't named after the late professor of archaeology in a western university.

Paul will end up with an Irish boyfriend as he’s destined to be with Ruairi.

I thought there was a decent amount of chemistry between the two of them when they went on their dates to the Karaoke bar and the Hunt Ball (this was before Paul became so annoying). Perhaps Ruari will have had enough of the London scene soon and decide to settle down.

Harry arrives back in Ambridge to tell everyone that no, he wasn’t driving on The Fateful Night as he was tucked up in rehab?

It will be Don Corleone James. Maybe he'll sack Ali-Stare and Deux-Knees, and they will go to work elsewhere, taking the ghastly Paul with them.

Ruari is bisexual

He will marry and conceive a child with a woman and then decide that he is in fact gay and leave her for a man

Who is Laura? The woman with whom he had the disastrous date? She had the measure of how dull he is him very quickly and thankfully abandoned the date.

Perhaps as the relationship progresses and moves on to more practical matters, Denise will baulk at the idea of living with Jim and the two of them decide to move in together somewhere outside Ambridge and we hear from them a lot less frequently.

Will she have stopped bursting into tears all the time by then, d'you suppose?

All I remember about Laura is that she is the captain of the Little Croxley cricket team (I think) and seemed keen on Alistair some time ago.

Yes, they went to a pub, I think - not The Bull. She seemed perfectly normal, pleasant, sane and intelligent (and was therefore entirely unsuitable) while he exceeded even his own very high standard of dullness. I seem to remember that it was her who brought the evening to an early close, by going off to sit with her friends at another table.
