Spoilers thread for The Archers. All Archers listeners are welcome here, whether you post on our main Archers thread or not. There's just one rule: please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers thread.

We usually add the BBC teasers and cast lists for forthcoming episodes as they
become available, plus the Radio Times and Daily Mail previews when possible.
Feel free to add anything else you come across, e.g. cast news, scriptwriter
tweets!

Perhaps because they’re not teenagers, @Madcats?

Wasn’t it only last year (or the year before?) that Lily broke up with Russ? I can understand why she wouldn’t race towards another serious relationship.

Josh has had girlfriends in the past, so I don’t think we should assume he’s entirely out of the dating game. The SWs are unlikely to mention it unless there’s a substantial story there.

No dob for Paul on the BBC site but Spotlight gives his actor’s age as 27 (with a playing age of 18 to 26).

(For some reason I’ve thought Paul is about 24 - was it mentioned in connection with his birthday at any stage?)

I am fairly sure he in his early twenties, and it was. I cba to go and find the episode. I think there may have been discussion here at the time about when/at what age he would have qualified as a vet nurse.

Gonners · 12/06/2024 21:13

I've always imagined Paul as in his mid-20s but with a mental age of 13.

105 today! I hope she's well. I miss Peggy.

That’s a pretty impressive birthday!

I’ve been teasing my mother (soon to be 92) about all the sprightly WWII veterans at the D Day memorials recently. (It’s so rare to see people older than her en masse on TV.) I’ll remind her of June Spencer too. It’s only sad that despite having brought me up listening to Radio 4 from before I was born, she now scarcely remembers the existence of TA.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/06/2024 10:00

I'd forgotten all about the spoilers! Here we go. No new teasers for a fortnight hence, just placeholders. Oversight, or are they trying to hide something momentous? It was the former the last time this happened, quite recently, so I'm not holding my breath. Not even a cast list for that week yet! Will keep an eye on this. Alice back this week. Will she be the one testing Azra's bedside manner?

16th-21st June
16/6 Justin puts his case forward, and Fallon faces the consequences.
17/6 Adam faces an uphill struggle, and Paul has a delicate issue.
18/6 The stress piles on Lilian, and there’s a near miss at Grey Gables.
19/6 There’s a surprise for Joy, and Azra’s bedside manner is tested.
20/6 Kirsty leads the charge, and Jakob slips up.
21/6 Alice makes a shocking decision, and Fallon has a confession to make.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 16-21 June
Alice is back from London and unsurprisingly, after staying with Ruairi, she's still struggling to stay sober. Adam takes drastic measures to get her well - but Alice could be about to make things worse. George is faced with the consequences of his actions - will he do the right thing? While the situation at the Stables becomes critical, Justin tables a controversial idea. Harrison and Fallon seem to have found peace, but an intercepted message looks likely to disrupt that.

23rd-28th June
23.6 Recent events begin to take their toll on Chris, and the Grundys debate their next move.
24.6 There’s light at the end of the tunnel for Harrison, and Lily receives a surprising offer.
25.6 Emotions run high for George, and Joy offers some hope.
26.6 The residents gather for news of a friend, and preparations begin for the summer fete.
27.6 Minds are changed at Grange Farm, and several residents plot an intervention.
28.6 There’s a sad goodbye for one family, and Susan comes to a decision.

An intense and gripping week of events unfolds in Ambridge. Listen to all the drama here. [This is the placeholder at the moment for all six episodes this week. No writer, no cast list! Make of this what you will.]

With all the rain we’ve been having recently, maybe the sinkhole comes into play? Entire village consumed.

The End.

(SWs retire to a life of endless Archers Con panel interviews …)

Thanks, though!

Bruisername · 16/06/2024 10:18

So Fallon does something stupid on her night out?

family changing their mind is bartleby I assume

and another sad farewell?

Bruisername · 16/06/2024 10:18

That can’t be to bartleby surely?

MsCheeryble · 16/06/2024 10:25

So what is the intense and gripping week going to be? My money's on another Alice crisis, or Fallon and Harrison splitting up, or all the horses in the stables getting strangles and potential end of the business. Or a combination, of course. But maybe they'll come up with something completely new for our delectation.

Gonners · 16/06/2024 10:28

I'd happily give Harrison strangles if someone would just hold him down while I get my rubber gloves.

TottersBlankly · 16/06/2024 10:37

‘Intense and gripping’ is just their default strapline - it doesn’t promise anything out of the ordinary.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/06/2024 10:41

I fear you're right, Totters. What a telling form of words. I'd be so much happier if the default was 'A week of events unfolds in Ambridge' or 'Another week unfolds in and around the lovely village of Ambridge'. I don't want intense and gripping every day, and it's not what we usually get anyway, so it's false advertising. Harrumph.

I am absolutely with you on this. Especially the false advertising aspect.

JanglyBeads · 16/06/2024 17:40

What can Alice be making a big decision about. She hasn't got control over much of her life currently.

Moving permanently to London?

TottersBlankly · 16/06/2024 17:50

Oh - could be!

Though I’d have thought she’s too good a character to lose from the regular cast.

Does the actress have pressing work commitments elsewhere?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 16/06/2024 18:17

Maybe giving up work at The Stables. Jump before she's pushed time.

MsCheeryble · 16/06/2024 18:40

Who's funding Alice on her long-term drinking binge in London? I would hope she doesn't qualify for sick pay so presumably Brian is maintaining her. I know it may be a lesser evil than having her earn the money through crime or going on the streets, but it would stick in my gullet funding my child to destroy herself.

JanglyBeads · 16/06/2024 18:56

Good question.

Oh she'd be back at some point, I'm sure! But she could be metaphorically handing over Martha completely to Chris.

BoreOfWhabylon · 16/06/2024 20:04

Thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g
Over on t'other thread, the 🔮 is speculating that Paul revealed his hitherto unexpected bisexuality last night with Fallon.

Gonners · 16/06/2024 21:54

I do think that however drunk Fallon was, that sort of horror is something she would have remembered.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 16/06/2024 22:06

Wouldn't Kirsty, who was clearly keeping a very careful eye on the drunk and incapable Fallon, have noticed?
